Meghan's long-awaited podcast has launched. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. Has anyone listened to it yet? Thoughts?

Meghan is making sure everyone knows Harry is the performing monkey and she is the organ grinder.

In the words of Phillip Schofield "It's a puppet !"

MarshaMelrose · 24/08/2022 22:17

Muppet, more like! 😅

Fifife · 24/08/2022 22:21

Omg isn't she embarrassed? She completely dominates the podcast. Meghan was a minor cable TV actress before she married Harry. She's only "successful" because she married into the RF. She makes money from insulting the family who initially made her famous and gave her wealth Serena Williams is a tennis champion and Mariah Carey is one of the greatest selling artists of all time. At least she has good self esteem.

Ohnonevermind · 24/08/2022 22:33

@Fifife

Its her podcast and people are tuning in to hear her (in her own mind)

i thought she was smarter - it reminds me of the phrase, better to be silent and thought a fool than speak and remove all doubt

i image her joining conversations and it’s like the Ivanka Trump, Christine Laguarde side eye moment. She’d probably want to give them advice

drivinmecrazy · 24/08/2022 22:35

Isn't it incredible that M can put out a random podcast based on ambition and female power.
After all She has only had to marry a man to make that happen .

Go Meghan!!'

While I agree, there's nothing new in this; far too many of today's interviewers can't resist making it all about them, and on previous form it's hardly likely Meghan would pass up an opportunity to do the same

Indeed. I was a bit perplexed when this whole whole bizarre Megan Markle previously being connected with Piers Morgan was a talked about thing, that really seemed like an odd mix - but maybe they had more common ground and interests than we all realised. Those being talking about themselves, being obsessed with themselves and having their own heads firmly lodged up their own arses and not knowing how to conduct an interview properly.

I agree, there is a lot of it about. I'll add Ellen DeGeneres and James Corden to the list. Completely up themselves. The focus should be on the guest but they just can't help themselves. Really, really irritating.

MarshaMelrose · 24/08/2022 22:41

Who are the other guests? Mariah Carey and who else? Do we know?

StartupRepair · 24/08/2022 22:57

People with ambition often do have to push themselves to continue their work even after an alarming incident.
This story hasn't landed well in South Africa. Like the revelation that she hated the Australian tour. And Harry's revelation that his trip to Nepal came when he was tired and didn't want to go. They really do burn bridges with wild abandon.

Corcory · 24/08/2022 23:03

Well, I've only heard small pieces of the pod cast and read excerpts. But really, who the H does she think she is! This ridiculous story about a 'fire' in Archie's bedroom turns out to be a heater that started to smoke. He wasn't in the room at the time so no harm done. But it really exemplifies just how unsuitable she was to be a Royal She certainly has never thought that she should 'say nothing and carry on'. I mean can you imagine the Queen or Princes Anne cancelling because of an over heated heater Or Kate or Sophie come to think of it Complete load of drivel, all poor poor me! Look what 'they' made me go through. Give me strength!

Honkytonky12 · 24/08/2022 23:05

She really needs to get over herself and stop whinging. Alot of these stories appear to be a false reality of what actually happened and its hard to believe a word she says. He family also seem dysfunctional and her non existent relationships with all of them is making think she is just as bad them and chasing fame, power and money. Like most working mums I've had some shitty times with my kids where I've had to leave them to go work, knowing they were poorly and worrying all day! Unfortunately some of us have no choice. The fact he was fine and there wasn't even a fire, just shows she completely exaggerates stories to suit her narrative. Honestly they both needed to get on with their lives and stop using the RF to sell stories.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/08/2022 23:07

Marsha I've no idea how correct this is, but other names mentioned are Mindy Kaling, Margaret Cho, Amanda Seales, Allison Yarrow and Ziwe Fumudoh

With Serena and Mariah Carey that's seven, but I've not seen anything said about the other five ...

Honkytonky12 · 24/08/2022 23:12

I always felt sorry for Kate when she was pregnant and the nurse who was looking after her killed herself due to the prank call. That really must have been awful for her, yet I'm pretty sure she made a public appearance a week after. Now that I can understand if she didn't feel ready to face the world!

Honkytonky12 · 24/08/2022 23:22

Ohnonevermind · 24/08/2022 19:11

I wonder has she shared the smoking heater story with the Grenfell survivors yet.

I thought exactly the same!

MarshaMelrose · 24/08/2022 23:22

Thanks, Puzzled. Maybe she's not done the others yet? I've only heard of 2 of those plus, of course, Mariah. I actually think the ones I've not heard of will probably more interesting. Maybe they do meaningful things rather than showbizzy ones.

I felt sorry for Kate when those naked pictures got released and she had to go that morning on public appearance. So embarrassing for her. But she just pasted on a smile and got on with it and we never heard her moan about it. Other than suing, of course. 😄

My parents were at a charity 'do' back in the late 80s or early 90's and Sarah Ferguson was a patron of the charity. She was expected at the event and like a trooper duly arrived and did her bit - but she was carrying one of her daughters with her who was a toddler at the time and was ill. She handed her over to a nanny while she gave a speech but the rest of the time carried she/sat with her on her lap. 'They' weren't completely inflexible and a work around was found between poorly child and an engagement.

Marotte · 24/08/2022 23:52

I have listened to some of it in the background, about 25 minutes so far earlier today. I wonder whether it's #2 on Spotify partly because a lot of people have heard about it or read some reviews and want to personally hear what it's like? This was me. I'm trying to keep an open mind about it but so far it is all rather shallow and same-old, not very enlightening and quite irritatingly presented (to me). There are many better (IMO) TEDx talks on Youtube and podcasts on this sort of topic that I find informative or inspirational. But if some people like listening to her brand of discussion and interviewing, she's obviously welcome to do it.

antelopevalley · 24/08/2022 23:56

Is this not aimed at an American market?

CarolynMartens · 25/08/2022 00:12

I don’t understand the surprise about having to paste a smile on when things aren’t going right, or the misrepresentation of events by the media. She was an actress! It’s one of the most “put on your megawatt smile and charm people even though your career is over and your entire family have drowned” career there is. I appreciate she wasn’t an A-lister so didn’t have the same media experience but sometimes it comes across like she’s from some provincial backwater who has no idea how showbiz or the media works.

ittakes2 · 25/08/2022 03:16

I find it offensive when people make fun of my birth country’s accent (not uk) I think it’s racist.
If Meghan was making fun of a minority country’s accent that would be considered racist right? With all this racism stuff surrounding her surely it was probably not a good idea to make fun of English accents?

susan12345678 · 25/08/2022 07:19

Poor Harry just doesn’t seem to have much gravitas for a Prince, it’s odd

Yeah I thought it was bad humour mocking the british accent and her husband really.

Honkytonky12 · 25/08/2022 07:23

Especially seeing how sensitive she is and she wouldn't have liked it if it was on the other foot.

Yes, I remember this, her family was devastated.

Later, W&K's entourage had an accident where their car knocked over an old lady. Her family must have been grieving.

But, hey ho, carry on. It's all royal work you know.

But did anyone ask W&K if they were alright?
