Meghan's long-awaited podcast has launched. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. Has anyone listened to it yet? Thoughts?

Everything about her is so totally contrived.

tattychicken · 29/08/2022 16:41

This made me laugh:

Though she has been media trained and then royal-media trained and sometimes converses like she has a tiny Bachelor producer in her brain directing what she says (at one point in our conversation, instead of answering a question, she will suggest how I might transcribe the noises she’s making: “She’s making these guttural sounds, and I can’t quite articulate what it is she’s feeling in that moment because she has no word for it; she’s just moaning”

StormzyinaTCup · 29/08/2022 16:46

The couple has directly smashed rumors of a reality show, both in statements made to publications and in conversation with me. But, Meghan explains, there’s a difference between a historical documentary and a reality docuseries…..

I wouldn’t put it past her to do an historical type documentary where she aligns herself with Wallis Simpson and Princess Diana. I can see the title now ‘The Royal Women That Found Freedom’.

HeddaGarbled · 29/08/2022 16:47

There are some really snarky digs in there e.g. the “climate-controlled” home and the podcast being interviews with Meghan’s “famous friends”.

tattychicken · 29/08/2022 16:47

And this;

At first, they’d resisted going to visit. “We didn’t have jobs, so we just were not going to come and see this house. It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was younger and you’re window shopping — it’s like, I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford. That doesn’t feel good.” How utterly humbled we all are when confronted with a depressingly aspirational Zillow hunt.

wordler · 29/08/2022 16:50

Actually, either Meghan or the photographer is also slightly trolling in the photos -

1 - Diana polo neck
2 - Flooffy princess dress seated pose like Kate
3 - replicate vanity fair pose from 2017

ungleimpact · 29/08/2022 16:50

Harry and Meghan, like the two palm trees, are “joined at the bottom.” Snigger.

(Sorry, bit juvenile I know, couldn’t help it.)

But really. No further info necessary about their love story. Please!!!

That article is so revealing. So much CRAP. To start with, the idea you teach your son about people living in small houses and big houses and to help out, performatively (patronising?!) hand out a parcel to a homeless person! Does she also teach him about inherited privilege and structural inequalities I wonder? Or does that come later? Seems relevant where some people are living in $15mill mansions and many others are living out of their cars. And the notion that young kids look up to her as a real life princess. Wow. I teach my kids that titles are a load of utter nonsense as is the notion that anybody should be awarded higher status through birth or marriage. I’m amazed that with all her focus on social justice she doesn’t think the same. Except obviously … I’m not.

So it was someone close to H and M who supposedly confirmed a fire but no-one else ? All other sources say the heater was smoking , not on fire.

They didn't even see it. Why would they want to stay anonymous?

I thought the SAs were all supporting MM? Why did #voetsekMeghan become the no 1 hashing if no one was bothered.

feellikeanalien · 29/08/2022 17:12

I think once the queen dies there will be a free for all. Meghan and Harry are bound to come out with even more "revelations". I wonder how much Prince Charles and William will put up with.

I am not particularly fussed about the pair of them or any other members of the RF (although they do have a certain amount of entertainment value). When they got engaged I thought that it could be a good thing and she seemed so keen to get involved. Logically though it was never going to work. Her background was so different to that of the RF and I am sure she really had no idea of exactly what it was like. Anyone would struggle to fit in to the royal setup, particularly if you have already had your own career and were used to being able to freely express your opinions and also not being British didn't make it any easier.

I think they did the right thing by leaving but, unfortunately the pair of them are coming across more and more as a pair of entitled moaners. I don't think they will do themselves any favours if this continues to be the case.

Third one looks to me like she has collapsed on a bench/chair with exhaustion and a very bad headache.

LondonWolf · 29/08/2022 17:17

"Most people that I know and many of my family, they aren’t able to work and live together,” Harry says in passing as I take a peek at their command center. He enunciates family with a vocal eye roll. “It’s actually really weird because it’d seem like a lot of pressure. But it just feels natural and normal.”

This is just embarrassing. For Harry that is. So snipey and spiteful.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 29/08/2022 17:20

Command center certainly sounds a bit sneery. I think the writer is poking fun too.

LondonWolf · 29/08/2022 17:20

I've just seen a tweet comparing her to David Brent 😆

Arnaquer · 29/08/2022 17:21

On reflection it's a clever article. Purports to be flattering but actually anything but. Exposes them them for the chancers that they are.

shedwithivy · 29/08/2022 17:21

I really wish she had remained tight lipped about the past in the article, it would make more of a statement to move on and focus on the future.

The princess/make your own fairytale/fall in love ambition bit did not in any way relate to the ambitions of any girls I know over the age of 6. To achieve something, to make a difference, be self reliant, make an equal partnership in a relationship... these are the ambitions of modern girls I think. she's still stuck with the idea of the little mermaid when most girls these days would rather be moana or Elsa.

SilverLiningPlaybook · 29/08/2022 17:21

I don’t suppose Harry knows anyone who has had to work from home during the pandemic. An idiot would realise that this has become much more common than it was previously. He’s just so out of touch.
Also what ‘work’ do they do exactly?

SilverLiningPlaybook · 29/08/2022 17:25

Hilarious!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 29/08/2022 17:32

Interesting point about the Royal Rota group, Serenster

Personally I wish they would force a disclosure of who's allegedly saying racist things, just as I hoped the palace would go into the claimed remarks about Archie, purely because I don't believe it's on to make damaging allegations on a scattergun basis

Of course, a side issue is that if once again things aren't quite as presented, that might be rather inconvenient for Meghan

susan12345678 · 29/08/2022 17:40

For me, one of Meghan’s issues may be that she operates at the level of a very shallow but moderately successful US influencer - yet wants to be perceived as a highly intelligent and globally influential princess. Her fans and followers buy into the folly - the rest of us (in the U.K. at least) are alternately confused, bemused or aghast.

I do wonder what people make of her in the US . Do they really believe this claptrap?

Readinginthesun · 29/08/2022 17:56

Could someone please explain what this means ??

sometimes converses like she has a tiny Bachelor producer in her brain directing what she says (at one point in our conversation, instead of answering a question, she will suggest how I might transcribe the noises she’s making: “She’s making these guttural sounds, and I can’t quite articulate what it is she’s feeling in that moment because she has no word for it; she’s just moaning”),
