Meghan's long-awaited podcast has launched. Sorry if there's a thread about this already. Has anyone listened to it yet? Thoughts?

Yes, Harry’s Duke of Sussex title takes precedence among his titles as a Royal Dukedom is higher than his birth title of Prince. As his wife, Meghan takes the female version of her husband’s highest title. So, the Duchess of Sussex.

She would also be entitled to use his title of Prince, but she’d be Princess Henry, not Princess Meghan. Like Princess Michael of Kent (whose real name is actually Marie-Christine) or Princess Andrew of Greece (the Duke of Edinburgh’s mother).

I wouldn't call it "secret" exactly since there was an announcement later, but yes they visited a charity in the Netherlands

In mentioning lower key work, though, I was thinking more of an ongoing commitment, Princess Anne style, than popping in as a one-off (valuable though even that can be for the charity's PR)

I'd be surprised if it happened though, because as said, unless an activity can be monetised it won't pay their bills (and theie lifestyle won't come cheap)

If that was reported accurately then I'd say there's not much doubt what it meant, but then we already knew Meghan can now "say anything" - after all if she couldn't she'd hardly be making the sort of claims she is

Whether any or all of them are accurate is another thing of course, but on her past form that's not something I'd want to assume

This bit really interests me - (yet again) Meghan is making a serious allegation of racism but not specifying who the allegation is directed at:

“There’s literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota…Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?”

The Royal Rota is a closed group - it is made up of affiliated members from various papers and photo agencies. Interestingly, members of closed groups can sue for defamation, if the group is sufficiently defined. So one of the Royal Rota could sue her for defamation over this (and ask for disclosure of the details of her allegation in pre-action disclosure). She was fairly confident no-one in the royal family would take such action, but the individuals in the Royal Rota may be less wary.

Meghan will think carefully about going to court with nonentities who just want to make money off her, by humiliating her to open up about her life on the stand.

She's going to have nothing left to sell about the RF. She only spent 18 months as a working royal before they left and she was iced out. What secrets and gossip does she have left to share ?? Working days or not, she was humiliated on hundreds of articles daily. For 6yrs now. She has every right to talk non stop for 6 yrs, and plus, for good measure. You reap what you sow. If they had cut it in the bud, none of this would happen. You abuse someone for years, then think that's fine, it's all done a long time ago now. Shrug and carry on abusing. Sorry, the chickens have come home to roost. Karma works like that. We can all just shrug, as we are shrugging about MM's abuse.

Poor old Princess Henry does seem to have undergone a simply huge amount of suffering in her life. I read about it with literal tears in my eyes. When I read bits out to my family we are all in tears. Like when I heard about that terrible smoking heater in South Africa.

That was one of the weirdest articles I've ever read - I had to keep checking whether it was really a genuine interview or a made-up satire piece. I assume because there was a photo shoot that the interview really happened. I hope the journalist kept a recording of the quotes because she made Meghan sound really odd in most of them. I'd be very upset if I was Meghan.

On the plus side, she looks good in the photos.

I found the bouncy castle anecdote particularly nauseating.

Very few people had any idea who she was for months, she was then warmly welcomed by the RF and the vast majority of British people , crowds watched their wedding etc and etc

Looks like South Africans tried to follow up the fire story. There was a fire and it was covered up.

I think it was a complete piss take. Carefully phrased to indicate a spoiled, shallow, self absorbed woman without overtly saying so.

So it was someone close to H and M who supposedly confirmed a fire but no-one else ? All other sources say the heater was smoking , not on fire.

It really is odd to read, syrup laced with cyanide and a side order of faux bemusement. Perhaps the interviewer is cautious of the propensity for litigation.

Completely agree. It was written in two layers - layer one is what Wolf said, representing Goop, while layer two is for the sensible people.

So I was about to post that I really don’t like her speaking style. She seems absurdly peppy and positive and she uses really sugary, flowery language and waffles on. She comes across as being fake and insincere due to the way she presents herself, even if that’s not how I necessarily see her as a person

However, taking into account some of the previous comments, I am also starting to think that the writer was taking the piss out of her and reflecting that in the article.

How about the carrying backpacks in the car with crackers and granola bars in for her security to hand out to any homeless people they happen to spot. A lovely gesture, sure, but it being done it front of the reporter...?
