Harry's speech at the UN

Just what is going on? Why does Harry think he is qualified to pronounce on various political matters in another country? Why is he invited and who cares what he thinks? Am I the only one thinking he is behaving like a total numpty?

You may wish for "fairness", but it's not even logical. They don't seem to find any value in being part of the RF. Why then would they or you believe it's of any benefit to have the titles? It would be an anathema to me to use the title if I felt the being a member of the RF was like being trapped in a zoo. Why wish that on them?
And you certainly are not fairly applying your support and judgement across all of the RF members based on your posts here

This has been answered a million times on these threads.

Yes, they can choose not to use their titles. Why should they when H's disgraced Uncle and his ex wife continue using theirs? Especially SF, 72 books written under her title and she's not even married to a member of the RF anymore!
They cannot be removed without an Act of Parliament.
Completely logical to me.

So you believe retaining titles to be a positive thing for H&M personally?

Roussette · 29/07/2022 16:21

Long time no see Janiie!!

I've missed your turn of phrase 🤣

If they said call us Mr and Mrs Windsor or whatever they'd be far more 'authentic

Hahahaha.... do you imagine the threads would stop if that happened?! NO!
There'd be another goalpost shift, there's been so many you need binoculars to see them!

Roussette · 29/07/2022 16:24

Did I say that?! Nope!
I just understand why they keep them, that's all.

I'd like to see them give them up actually, just to see what would happen on MN! It was always the final demand of a massive list of demands from MNers, of them.
With that gone, I'd be intrigued what else they'd have to do, by the law of MNers..

I imagine it would be a face transplant, go and live in the Brazilian jungle and never speak out loud again 🤣

Personally I would have far more respect for them if they dropped their titles, stopped preaching, stopped playing hard done by, sorted their family relationships out and got proper jobs. Not pretend jobs that don’t require any work. Stopped wearing overpriced designer outfits all the time and just shut the hell up.

Of course, this applies to Andrew and Sarah too. At least they don’t preach all the time

I do hope you never find out what happens to tourism without them.

Tourist will still visit. The palaces/ castles will still remain, and people may actually be able to get into them for a change.

What's it to you what they do as far as jobs and what they wear? If we were funding them, I could understand, but we aren't.
Do you check out what SarahF wears when she's advertising her Mills&Boon books in the grounds of Royal Lodge where she lives for nothing?

Why do they have to get 'proper jobs' . What's a 'proper job' and what's a 'pretend job'? It's nothing to do with you surely.
Your post smacks of pure envy.

I think you like my brazilian jungle, never speak again scenario 🤣

KatharineofAragon · 29/07/2022 16:33

Turn them all over to the National Trust and give the art to Art Galleries. That will pull in massive amounts of tourism.
If the RF donated all their huge wealth to charities that would be great too. Or use it to pay off a chunk of the national debt.

Envy? Of what exactly? There is literally nothing to envy, not even the mansion in Montecino.

Absolutely. Some of the 29 Royal residences, palaces and Estates could be opened up to the public.
Charles has talked of this happening, let's see if he stands by this.

Just odd to be going on about them getting a job, and stopping wearing designer clothing

So you believe they should be equally punished by being made to retain their titles?

It really doesn't make any sense that you use the term "fairness" regarding the titles unless you believe one way or another. It's benefit they should equally retain or a punishment they should equally endure.

We do all understand exactly why they keep them. It obviously makes it easier to monetize themselves. They can pretend to themselves that they are independent and that they loathed being part of the RF, but the only way Harry will ever make any money now is by capitalizing on his title and the connections he made as a member of the RF and through his parents. Pretending he is somehow worthy of pontificating on various topics because he's the grandson of the Queen. Meghan can't exactly go back to being a TV star now, either. Honestly, the only reason the world is interested at this point is because of the drama they create.

It's their choice, of course. But it is, in a nutshell, why they face the criticism they do in both US and GB. Suspect they also know this and are content to be the topic of discussion however they arrive there.

I hate their preachy entitlement and hypocrisy. That’s what.
There must be a reason you spend all day defending them and don’t think they ever put a foot wrong. You are very invested in seeing them
as totally blameless.

They aren't being punished by keeping the Titles. I understand why they keep them though, they can choose not to use them of course, but would it make any difference? Nah. He'd still be Prince Harry by birthright and either grandchild, son or brother of the UK monarch.

Fairness yes. Why should Sarah Ferguson, 25 years an ex wife of a member of the RF, write books under the title Duchess of York, most recent book last year.

Yet, you demand these two do not use their titles or we should have an Act of Parliament remove them.

Roussette · 29/07/2022 16:47

I can turn that back on you as the other side of the coin.

There must be a reason you start a thread on them purely to knock them and spend all day criticising them.
It works both ways you know...

Roussette · 29/07/2022 16:50

Nope. I don't. They've done some stupid things and are a couple of twats at times. But when they haven't done anything, I don't get the vitriol at all.

And I don't get the title thing one little bit when there should be a much stronger call to remove a disgraced member of the RFs title.

KatharineofAragon · 29/07/2022 16:50

Umm no. You are on every thread about them posting constantly.

I can post where I like, as can you.

H should receive security if the police deem it necessary. When I think of the victims of domestic abuse or stalkers who get absolutely no protection from the police, I have no sympathy for someone demanding security just because of his title.

That's the police's position all along. No automatic , blanket security coverage, but a needs-based assessment for each trip, with security provided when assessed as necessary

I answered that and said not, you don't read my posts do you?

I'll repeat it. "They've done some stupid things and are a couple of twats at times"

I think they should not have done the OW interview, for instance. You seem to know when I post, I'm surprised you haven't clocked that from me before as I've said it a dozen times or more.

So NO, I do not think they are totally right in every respect and every situation.

It's very frustrating when someone challenges me when it's obvious they have not read what I posted.

I know they never would give them up on their own and I certainly do not believe anyone should be stripped of their titles. I think that would be really terrible actually, because it would only make family reconciliation more impossible. I wish they would have worked with Harry's grandmother to find a way to have what they wanted and needed without so much pain on both sides. I watched these boys, now men, grow up, from a world away. I copied their mother's hairstyle as a young child. I have no interest in seeing any of them fight or suffer, nor make fools of themselves on the world stage.

I am just so curious about your take on it because you seem to really loathe the rest of the family but somehow set H&M apart as special and undeserving of any criticism. And I wonder how it happened that you have set this up in your own mind as some kind of zero sum game where H&M are always good and the rest of them are wholly bad.

Am I correct in saying that you feel they should be allowed to keep any and all of the benefits but not have any of the responsibilities? And that you see no problem with them condemning the institution while still picking and choosing the aspects that they enjoy?
