Thomas Markle coming to UK for jubilee

Flopbopandpop · 25/04/2022 22:29

So Thomas has announcement on GB news just now, they are going to pay to help bring him to the UK for the queen's jubilee and would love to meet Charles and Harry / Megan if they turn up, should be intesting. He would dearly love to meet anyone from the royal family as he feels they have much to discuss. I hope it goes well for him.

You don't know any of these people so why defend them with such heartfelt passion?

Agree, it's extremely bizarre how obsessively these posters defend Thomas Markle.

Very weird behaviour.

Can't deny race / unconscious bias. If Thomas was black the headlines would be different. If it was Meghan's mother rather than father behaving that way, again headlines would be different. If Meghan was Chelsea Davy - headlines would have been different. Again if Chelsea would have been black Zimbabwean rather than white the press would have approached things differently.

Any the press publishes what sells. Hating Meghan sells, they make money.

You spend so much time every day

I've made about two dozen posts on Mumsnet in total and I don't even visit this site every day, but sure go off on me and not the posters who have racked up literally thousands of posts about how awful Meghan is.

JemimaPuddlegoose · 02/06/2022 17:49

Weren't you the poster who even called out people as racist for calling Prince Harry stupid? 😂

Nope, never posted in a Prince Harry thread.

Okay, I apologise if that was a different poster but my objections stand.

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a great evening. Just a quick one to say, we've deleted a few posts and we're hoping to get this thread back on track. Please post within our Talk Guidelines and report anything that concerns you.

There are some questionable opinions on both sides.

I think that ‘the truth’ lies somewhere in between Meghan’s and Thomas’s accounts.

there are two many inconsistencies in Meghan’s different accounts and Thomas has displayed some very questionable judgments and decisions.

If Meghan’s sister succeeds in taking her to court (which I doubt) some of these issues will be addressed in the witness box and can finally be laid to rest, but I’m guessing for some of the more ‘entrenched’ followers nothing will be enough to change their point of view.

If you know people in media circles then you will know the answer to many questions

These days I don't know any media figures that well, but thinking of the number of details which have come out about the RF which they turn out to have "sat on" for ages, I expect that's credible; I'd also be surprised if the publicity-controlling deals the public have found out about are the only ones

Notably it's the "blood royals" who they seem keenest to protect; the rest have a horrible tendency to be thrown to the wolves if circumstances change, so yet again it's perhaps a case of time will tell

Sortilege · 02/06/2022 19:06

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/06/2022 12:49

I don't think we're supposed to wonder about that on here, Sortilege - at least, not from the way some go ballistic if the question's so much as asked

Oh I see thanks. I’m still not sure if I’ve correctly understood the euphemism “wasn’t around”, but if there was anything in it, how have they hushed it up?

Any which way, the media is a far bigger character in all these stories than it seems at first glance.

Not in Diana’s cases. An awful lot of things were voluntarily quashed or suppressed by the media for a long while so as not to tarnish the golden goose. The media protect the narrative that sells,

Similarly, if there is any conspiracy with Doria and Tom I would think it’s a very mild media one, motivated by profits. Tom did stupid things, which set the tone for his coverage. Doria showed a lot of dignity and discretion, which set the tone for hers. Now any of his mistakes get magnified and any small smudges on her name that might exist (I’m not convinced there’s much there TBH) are suppressed. Which gives the MSM a bad guy and a good guy for their narrative. (Dan Wooton being the exception.)

Ofc this infuriates the racists so there’s a counter narrative running in the scummy corners of the internet.

This is true, Sortilege, though once again it just highlights self interest, which both they and the RF prioritise
As better posters than me have explained it's a strangely symbiotic relationship, with - as you correctly suggested - the media a major player

As for how they'd hush it up, my media training was a long time ago, but that it's done is indisputable

Sortilege · 02/06/2022 19:48

Completely agree.

Most of the true stories about Meghan's past life get suppressed before they can be printed. There is a massive wall of silence that works in her favour which makes it so puzzling why she perceives the press to be her enemy. If you know people in media circles then you will know the answer to many questions about Doria, the breakup of her first marriage etc. I won't be spilling as I recognise that it is not my privilege/career on the line but I honestly cannot see it being suppressed indefinitely. All I will say is that when it comes out, both the fans and the non-fans will be surprised.

Apparently this new book that's coming out is going to reveal some of these stories. The author has got people to speak to him who haven't spoken before.

Why2why · 02/06/2022 22:16

Keep waiting and hoping. Have you seen the gulf between William and Kate? That’s the suppressed story you should be more concerned about - those you pay to keep in the lifestyle they’ve become used to.

Why2why · 02/06/2022 22:22

Oh and if Doria had done any wrong, that nice white lady Samantha Markle would have long ago made money out of it. She is more than happy to make up stuff and sing like a canary on whatever media channel she can find. So this new book that has new info will be a lot of tosh and damp squid like all the other millions of books that has been written about Meghan Markle purporting to give bombshell info.

If someone has bombshell info to am sure they would rather sell it for thousands or millions than he an give it to some “author” for them to make money. Besides none of these books seems to sell well. People have realised it’s all tosh. Look at Piers Morgan’s programme. No one have time for made up nonsense apart from a few demented people.

Day one of the jubilee down. All the great grandkids (shown) seemed to be having lots of fun which was lovely.

I’m always more suspicious of the ones draped over each other like teenagers 🤣 and patting each other like pets, putting on a show for the cameras and Instagram shots

@lameasahorse

i think I’m old fashioned but I don’t understand why American presidents and U.K. prime ministers etc have to go around holding hands like their partners are made of helium and would float off without a firm grip.

I think when they’re in a ‘professional capacity’ such as meet and greets why the PDA’s?

But that’s just my personal opinion.

Does anyone believe the story that Meghan was married to someone else as well as Trevor Engleson?
