I don't believe for a minute anyone was being racist, our family always talk about what colour skin our babies will have, eye colour, hair colour and texture, tall and short. I don't know any families that did not do this, everyone does. Meghan for sure made that into something it wasn't.

In some families people will speculate about a baby's appearance, resemblance to other family members, etc. Many other families have better things to do than making what amounts to personal remarks about the appearance of others.
Your ignorance of the history of racism is breathtaking. I really urge you to look up the topic of 'passing' in the US context. Also the 'One Eighth Rule'.
Wondering out loud what a mixed race baby will look like is always a form of asking how black he will look.
In the context of the royal family, it meant how different from the rest of the family the baby would look, how much less of a member of the family he would look.
Any speculation on the appearance of a baby is crass and uncouth. In the context of a baby of mixed race it is even more offensive.
