Harry and Meghan 'are invited to appear on Buckingham Palace balcony at Queen's Platinum Jubilee'

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10729859/Prince-Harry-Meghan-Markle-invited-make-balcony-appearance-Jubilee.html

No source cited, so could just be made up news.

How do you all feel about this? Is it another refusing-to-fly-the-flag-at-half-mast-for-Diana misreading of the public mood? Does anybody actually care? And, if not, what does that signify?

It is a state occasion dee Harry is no longer a working royal and has no place being there. I don't know why you fail each time to understand that simple fact.

I pay a HUGE amount of tax, so your assumption is somewhat misguided!

Why do you keep saying this.
I was looking at the other people on the balcony and H&M are exactly in the same position as the York sisters, the Kents etc.

Swayingpalmtrees · 21/04/2022 15:53

The difference being that the York sisters et al did not create absolute hell on an Oprah interview and call the Queen and family racists. They have not smeared the RF at every opportunity, nor are they about to release a very damaging book. There is a world of difference between them.
Andrew should not be there either.
Anyone that has brought the family into disrepute should not be there! Full stop.

As a taxpayer, and millions will agree with me, I am not paying for a person that thinks nothing of trafficking minors for sex or selling the family out globally. As we are paying I think public opinion should absolutely be taken fully into account. It will ruin the jubilee due to the public's reaction for sure. It is not a smart move.

notanotheroneagain · 21/04/2022 15:54

It is annoying when these posters and their negativity start to contradict each other in their desperation to make Harry a baddie. 🙃

Posters are contradicting themselves. One minute Harry is a pariah to the RF, next he is using his titles to be associated. Which is it? He wants to be in or he wants to be out? Or maybe the simple think is that he is just telling the truth.

Harry also explained that it was thanks to Diana's money he was able to set himself up. Possibly things that Diana did or said, helped William at some point in his life and Harry is just reflecting on that foresight, like she knew these things would take place and in a way helped them cope. The only people that sound unhinged on on these threads.

“I was looking at the other people on the balcony and H&M are exactly in the same position as the York sisters, the Kents etc.”

They all do Royal duties if required . None of them have flounced off thousands of miles.

Well, you hit the nail on the head there! Well done. Yes exactly, Harry wants both! He wants to be royal and titled, glory and money when it suits him, but having exiled himself in the most destructive way he has also made himself a pariah. He is both. He is an entitled pariah one might say.

notanotheroneagain · 21/04/2022 15:58

I would imagine that the only hell unleashed is to have people act racist upon yourself and your child.
They also made it clear it was not the queen who was racist, so stop lying.

I would think the disrepute is the Kents caught on tape selling access. As well as this happening under PC.

IN other words, they were allowed, a 'half in, half out'.

Even from you, that doesn't make any sense.

I don't believe for a minute anyone was being racist, our family always talk about what colour skin our babies will have, eye colour, hair colour and texture, tall and short. I don't know any families that did not do this, everyone does. Meghan for sure made that into something it wasn't.

swayingpalmtrees
In some families people will speculate about a baby's appearance, resemblance to other family members, etc. Many other families have better things to do than making what amounts to personal remarks about the appearance of others.

Your ignorance of the history of racism is breathtaking. I really urge you to look up the topic of 'passing' in the US context. Also the 'One Eighth Rule'.

Wondering out loud what a mixed race baby will look like is always a form of asking how black he will look.

In the context of the royal family, it meant how different from the rest of the family the baby would look, how much less of a member of the family he would look.

Any speculation on the appearance of a baby is crass and uncouth. In the context of a baby of mixed race it is even more offensive.

Samcro · 21/04/2022 16:17

i see people are still excusing racism.
an all white family, someone makes comments about the colour of the one non white family members baby and in mn world that isn't racist!!!!

Swayingpalmtrees · 21/04/2022 16:17

My best friend is mixed race and SHE speculated along with her entire family what colour her baby would be with her white British husband. It is not unusual at all in any context. I don't think there is anything wrong with talking about the baby and whether he would have red hair etc. This is NOT racism, it is simply talking and feeling excited about meeting a new baby. My dh and I and all the friends we have all did the same.

Swayingpalmtrees · 21/04/2022 16:19

N other words, they were allowed, a 'half in, half out'

And it was made perfectly clear to Harry and Meghan that there is no such thing as a half in and half out senior Royal! So that is why they are no longer working royals and have lost their titles and patronages and all the rest.

You are either in or you are out. In their case, most definitely out, and they have had a string of hissy fits as a result.

mathanxiety · 21/04/2022 16:20

@EdithWeston, the entire family and congregation saw the favour she bestowed on her son the nonce. Are they all supposed to take note and carry on according personal respect to Andrew regardless of his conduct?

The entire world saw that the removal of royal duties was just a case of stage dressing.

I applaud whoever made the decision to roll the tape and to broadcast the moral bankruptcy that was supposed to remain hidden from the public.

I personally lost every last shred of respect I had for her that day. There wasn't a lot there to begin with, I admit, and it's been steadily eroded over the years. I'm thankful that she's not my head of state.

Victims of sex traffickers matter.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 21/04/2022 16:25

It's nice how all these strangers are dismissing an event that Harry and Meghan have been really upset by. In the room, were you?

What I've learned as a white person is this- if the person of colour judges something to be racist, then it's racist. White people (and people who are strangers to them and who've never met them) are not the ones to judge.

Exactly !

And H&M said there were concerns, not sweet little wonderings about his hair and eye colour.

notanotheroneagain · 21/04/2022 16:30

The Kents and Gloucestes were senior working royals.

H&M were asking to be demoted to the same level as the Yorks, and they were told no.

mathanxiety · 21/04/2022 16:32

Philip wasn't just ill vegan he was actually dying

@Swayingpalmtrees,

Are you familiar with the phrase 'hindsight is always 20/20'?

Maybe you believe H&M have a crystal ball?

If the Queen were to pop her clogs this weekend would you spend all ext week tutting her detractors on this thread and accusing them of speaking ill of the dying?

Swayingpalmtrees · 21/04/2022 16:33

They did not want to be on the same level as the Yorks at all! The Yorks have actual proper salaried jobs, pay bills and are not bankrolled by the tax payer. H&M wanted to keep all the tax funded perks without doing the grunt work, not surprisingly they were refused.

Swayingpalmtrees · 21/04/2022 16:36

It was well publicised that the time the Oprah interview was about to be launched that it was in very poor taste because Prince Philip was dying and it could happen at any moment, as he did a week or two later.

It was terribly received here, if your Grandpa is dying you don't do things like that. I can't even be bothered to talk to you about this anymore, if you can not understand how repugnant the whole Oprah thing was at a time when his family where very distressed already. He will never be forgiven for it, of that I have no doubt. Prince Charles was losing his father when Harry decided to put the boot in. It was so shocking.

Erm....... they specifically said, they would earn their own money !

notanotheroneagain · 21/04/2022 16:40

The Oprah interview was done because it was the end of the one year extension from HMQ.

You sound unhinged @Swayingpalmtrees

mathanxiety · 21/04/2022 16:40

@Swayingpalmtrees

Seriously?

You are claiming they were speculating as to whether Archie would have red hair?

Do you really think a mixed race woman from a country where her ancestors and in fact everyone who was One Eighth black had to drink from separate public drinking fountains and wouldn't be served in most restaurants and had to give up their seat and move to the back of any bus they traveled in - to mention just the tip of the iceberg - would be offended by speculation about red hair?

I'm lost for words.

IcedPurple · 21/04/2022 16:45

H&M were asking to be demoted to the same level as the Yorks, and they were told no.

You mean no money from the Duchy of Cornwall?

No taxpayer funded security?

No representing the queen?

No royal patronages?

No grace and favour home?

This is the Yorks' 'level'. Are you saying this is what Meghan and Harry wanted? Their silly 'manifesto' proves otherwise.

Swayingpalmtrees · 21/04/2022 16:49

Erm....... they specifically said, they would earn their own money

That is untrue, they wanted to keep Frogmore cottage and have global security wherever they went - have you any idea the millions and millions that costs? They wanted to keep a large chunk of tax payer funded benefits and they ALSO earn millions of dollars from side kicks from Netflix and all the rest. Funnily enough that did not go down well with the public or the RF!

It really is astounding!

I think this would have been incredibly hurtful and personally could never forgive those that made the comments.
