www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10729859/Prince-Harry-Meghan-Markle-invited-make-balcony-appearance-Jubilee.html

No source cited, so could just be made up news.

How do you all feel about this? Is it another refusing-to-fly-the-flag-at-half-mast-for-Diana misreading of the public mood? Does anybody actually care? And, if not, what does that signify?

The photos in the press of H and M on the balcony will distract from Prince Andrew being there.

secular39 · 19/04/2022 16:06

Why does there need to be a thread about this. Whether the Royal family like it or not, Prince Harry and Meghan are family and I can assure you that the Queen would love to see her grandchildren again. All families have disputes. The difference is that theirs are televised!

Chilledchablis1 · 19/04/2022 16:19

Well if press reports are correct , Harry has given an interview to the Today Show and has discussed his meeting with HM . Depending on what he says , any invitation might be withdrawn !

mathanxiety · 19/04/2022 16:29

Agree with TurquoiseSwirl.

mathanxiety · 19/04/2022 16:31

Also agree with Mrs Terry Pratchett

I hope they'll have the backbone to decline the invitation if Andrew is also going to be there.

If this is true, I am in awe of the Queen’s ability to forgive and forget.

Televising THAT interview whilst Prince Philip was dying was utterly despicable.

AmberLynn1536 · 19/04/2022 16:57

It will be interesting to see if they attend or not, on one hand they must want to attend as it highlights their royal connections and that is the cash cow for them, on the other hand they are going to look hypocritical if they stand waving on the balcony with family who allegedly cut them off financially and were racist, plus they don’t feel safe in this country security wise. I’m sure the Queen does want them there with her, but it is also good optics for the royals, they have held out an olive branch and put the ball firmly in their court. I think they should attend purely for Archie and Lily it would be shame for them to miss out on such a historical occasion, it will be their only chance of being on the balcony with Queen.

AmberLynn1536 · 19/04/2022 17:00

I doubt they won’t attend because of Andrew, Harry and Meghan are very close to Beatrice and Eugenie, Eugenie in particular, she even lives in their house and has spent time with them in America. I expect Andrew often pops into Frogmore Cottage.

PegsandBags · 19/04/2022 17:11

The RF is only relevant for rants and gossip by the great unwashed. The sh1t will hit the fan big time when Charles is king, as the kettle is boiling for an all out assault on them and their lifestyles when Liz is gone. Wait and see.....

Interesting point but surely Lilibet is too tiny to be on a balcony.
AmberLynn1536 · 19/04/2022 17:24

She will be a year old in June I think, not sure how old Louis is in this balcony picture.

They should bring the kids, do it and suck it up for Granny.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 19/04/2022 17:34

Och, so what.
Old lady wishes for her beloved and much-missed grandson to stand with her during her silly party. Who are we to care? It's not as if any of them give a shiny shit about us. They wouldn't care if your dodgy relatives came to your extravagant and utterly pointless party.

It's so weird how Harry and Meghan live in UK people's heads. It's creepy to be this aggravated by them both.

Applesonthelawn · 19/04/2022 21:35

Obviously it's fine for the Queen to want her grandson at a private celebration, if she does, but appearing on the balcony is public and they shouldn't be there. The Queen may forgive them for the Oprah interview (God knows how, but that's her business), but the rest of us shouldn't have to see them.

Kinneddar · 19/04/2022 21:37

Surely with all their supposed security concerns 🙄 they'd have to decline. 🤞🏻

Totally hypocritical if they don't

Moochio · 19/04/2022 21:40

That's nice. Could be the last family picture for all they know. I hope they go. It would be sad to miss out.

Babar100 · 19/04/2022 22:12

Can’t we just have the Queen with Meghan and Harry?

The Invictus games is exciting and relevant and Meghan doesn’t dress like some kind of 1950s matron….and she actually had opinions of her own….shock horror!

In contrast, Will and Kate’s recent tour was totally tone deaf like they’ve missed out on the past few years of current events. The pictures were cringeworthy and I find them really boring and outdated. I think Kate just says what she’s told to say and her accent sounds really fake…the perfect princess…not really the sort of role model for modern British girls / women surely?

Andrew…he’s just a disgrace. Why he’s allowed to any public events I have no idea….

Have absolutely no interest in the rest of them!

saraclara · 19/04/2022 22:34

The day is about the queen. She gets to decide who she wants on the balcony with her. I'm astounded that anyone thinks differently.

CatherineMorland · 19/04/2022 23:07

@Babar100

You seriously think publicly slating your family and exploiting your royal connections makes for a good role model?

That all the royals who carry out the day to day public visits and “boring” good works should move aside for Harry & Meagan who have decided to fly in for the Invictus Games.

@Chilledchablis1

It would be wrong for H and M and A to appear on the balcony. All have embarrassed and upset the RF in different ways .
Absolutely this
StartupRepair · 20/04/2022 05:47

Harry has announced that he sees his role as protecting HM and making sure she has the right people around her.
I find this just a touch grandiose from someone who has trashed her institution and visited her once in 2 years.

SonicWomb · 20/04/2022 06:01

I don’t think any of them should be on the balcony tbh. It’s had it’s day, it’s image is tainted by everything that has happened from A to H&M. It will be fake, we all know that. The world will be looking for sly glances and murmurs between them all, the lyre a sideshow who have taken over from what really matters which is HMQ. I don’t think the balcony tradition will continue with PC, and if it does H&M won’t come. Give it up now, stop giving oxygen to the entire circus.

tigger2022 · 20/04/2022 06:33

@Babar100 just sexist nonsense, no need for it.
