Prince Harry not attending Philips memorial

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be attending P Philips memorial service. What are people’s thoughts about this? Is the whole security issue a smoke screen for the fact he can’t face his family?

I must admit I do think he should have a close protection officer when in this country. Yes he has flounced and as such doesn't represent the monarchy but he is still relatively high profile and would surely sadly be a target.

As has already been said, he would be offered protection if there was a threat. The HO stated as such. And of course he would receive protection if he were with another member of the family at their residence, or if he was taking part in an official event such as the memorial service.

JaniieJones

Totally agree with you faints right out Grin
It just seems petty to me.

Especially whilst PA is still getting round the clock PPOs.

Roussette · 22/03/2022 11:22

Yes smilesy but not if he was visiting one of his charities. Maybe he needs to take Andrew with him in the boot. He'd get protection then. Grin

'Totally agree with you faints right out'

That's about twice now Grin

Roussette · 22/03/2022 11:23

No worries Janiie I'm keeping a detailed spreadsheet Grin

I’d there was a threat he would get protection. Like I said.

😂😂

Seriously though, is Charles or William gonna put a chain or something around his waist and attend his charities.

Me and my children have never been threatened, but it must be scary af to have that for your children. Good on him, for not waiting for a bullet our god knows what to take it seriously.

Mistresses and girlfriends have had protection, so it's crazy that Charles child and his family cannot have protection.

Save your breath, smilesy; I've said it myself at least twice on here and the issue of the protection being in place if assessed to be necessary is never commented on

It's almost as if some believe the security services would willingly stand by and see Harry injured or worse, which makes no sense at all when you look at the bigger picture - or perhaps it's felt that saying so would be a step too far?

He’d get protection if there was a threat. Just feeling unsafe doesn’t mean he can have Special Protection Officers. Lots of people have threats made against them it do not get Special Protection as pp who this has happened to have stated on these threads. If he want to keep away from the paps, he needs a a skilled driver, as we have said before, and one of those can be hired. No one has said he shouldn’t have any protection, but he seems to want tax payer funded SPO’s. Presumably as well, if he was to have Special Protection, this would involve at least two cars and maybe motorcycle outriders etc. not available at the drop of a hat.

So you know without fail that the forces who monitor threats know of all of the threats... okaaay.....

Harry wants access to the intelligence via the SPO’s, so he must think it’s good enough.

Roussette · 22/03/2022 13:28

And he's being denied it.

I'm not surprised that Harry is being denied access to intelligence - imagine the content of the next Oprah show! Surely no-one would trust him with any sensitive information about anything now.

Roussette · 22/03/2022 14:52

,Parker yes I think it does

Viviennemary · 22/03/2022 14:53

Beatrice and Eugenie were in more or less the same position as Harry a few years ago. They didn't get police protection either and they actually lived in this country. When is he going to stop whining and suing people.

Perhaps as Charles offered for Harry to stay with him. Harry could have organised after consultation with his father for a charity event to be held at his father's residence, protection would be available either Harry doesn't think the protection for the future King is not sufficient in which case why is he fighting for it or he knows he wouldn't be able to bring his Netflix camera crew to Charles's
zafferana · 22/03/2022 15:31

I find it weird that Harry refuses to come to the UK because of the supposed security risk, yet he's happy to go to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games 2 weeks later. Is the risk to him less in Europe? Is he afforded police protection there?

Having said that, Harry is no longer a working member of the RF, so I think it's okay that he doesn't turn up to ceremonial occasions. He was here for the funeral and he's going to be in Europe on 16th April, so I can imagine him getting a lot of criticism for burning up the planet if he flew over twice in two weeks. I really hope he makes a private visit to the Queen though when he's over for the Invictus Games, not least because of her recent increased frailty. He is currently looking both petulant and uncaring in his behaviour towards her.

maddy68 · 22/03/2022 16:01

It doesn't matter. He was at the funeral. The queen isn't even going. I'm not sure this is the event that the media are striving for

smilesy · 22/03/2022 16:03

The queen isn't even going.

I think she is going. The last thing I saw was that she was going to arrive early so that she could receive help for her movie issues without an audience 🤷‍♀️

smilesy · 22/03/2022 16:04

Mobility issues. Weird autocorrect

tigger2022 · 22/03/2022 16:08

She is definitely intending to go (it was another event she had to pull out of, and Prince Harry is not 95 years old!) - they were reporting this week that they're trying to find ways of maintaining her dignity because she doesn't want to be photoed in a wheelchair. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I think her generation sees it differently.

EdithWeston · 22/03/2022 16:19

Yes, she is intending to go.

I expect she wants the event to be about Prince Philip, not about her and how frail she might look.

CathyorClaire · 22/03/2022 16:41

It’s not ‘petty’ to deny Harry a level of continuous protection deemed unnecessary by security services

Quite.

The whining over being denied access to the intel begs the question of whether he was ever interested in it when top level security was a given for him.
