Prince Harry not attending Philips memorial

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be attending P Philips memorial service. What are people’s thoughts about this? Is the whole security issue a smoke screen for the fact he can’t face his family?

We onvio disagree then don't we?

No grey areas?

Amazing that the other member of the RF who does no duties and is probably not allowed to be mentioned on here, gets close PPOs!

But hey, one rule for one etc

Roussette · 22/03/2022 07:12

Sorry, bad typing.

'obviously'

EdithWeston · 22/03/2022 07:19

I'm sorry but for some reason that made me burst out laughing. I can actually see Kate hitchhiking, and sitting on the back of a truck, and then, hopping off the truck, still looking immaculate, with perfect make up and not a hair out of place. But a beaming smile

Yes! Though I think it would be in summer, she'd be wearing a cotton dress a bit like yesterday's, and her hair would be perfectly disarraged -salt spray, loose curls, ideally placed strands

SallyLockheart · 22/03/2022 07:22

roussette. more whataboutery. again

Roussette · 22/03/2022 07:28

Yep. I'll do whataboutery as much as I want when I spot unfair situations

You know full well that the Duke of York is the subject of many threads on MN.

The Palace definitely need to sort out his arrangements, and I agree that it's hard to see any case for him to have CP now he is (forcibly) retired. And that it should have been, like his younger siblings, when on duty only from no later than when Prince Harry came of age.

But two wrongs don't make a right, do they?

They also really should sort out the State Counsellors roles, but I expect they'll hope that Princes Charles and William will be able to do all that is necessary

Bellevu · 22/03/2022 07:31

This thread is appalling. I'm sure most of you have been on the other posts claiming that the UK is one of the most tolerant places in the world and allegations of racism are just chippy folks looking for problems.

I'm black and these Meghan threads only confirm to me and those who look like me that she made the right decision to tell the racists to sod off. It's satisfying that so many of you are enraged because for once a black person had, and used her, power to say she wouldn't tolerate what the rest of us have to in our daily lives.

Roussette · 22/03/2022 07:35

I know full well about the PA threads because I started most of them!, some years ago, and they gained very little traction even when he was behaving appallingly.

Yes I agree there is mess and loose ends to be sorted

Roussette · 22/03/2022 07:38

@Bellevu

I agree

As I say A LOT, well done them for leaving. Best thing they could've done

EdithWeston · 22/03/2022 07:41

Yes, only about 4 of them filled to 1000 posts!

(No I haven't checked the exact number, but it was several, and they were very active when Stuff was actually happening . All gone quiet since the settlement. There might be an envoi about whether he attends any Jubilee event. They have announced that he'll be at Prince Philip's memorial service)

H&M have been the victims of horribly bad timing re COVID and now the war in Ukraine, and seem unable to pivot.

The kind of thing they want(ed) to do looks self-serving and irrelevant when celebrities like Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are raising vast sums for Ukraine. Even in this country, where we are hugely privileged, some people have really suffered thanks to COVID and are now being hit by a cost of living crisis, and we do not want to be preached to by public figures who don’t put their money (time/power/influence) where their mouth is.

Also, either one is (in general) a royalist or one isn’t. If you are, you’re not necessarily going to think the RF is fantastic but you’re going to understand why they do what they do, so you’ll probably think comparisons between eg W&K in Belize and Harry’s security are fatuous and irrelevant; if you’re not, you’ve surely got to wonder why H&M use their titles, behave as though people should automatically be interested in what they have to say, do quasi-royal visits, live a semi-public life, etc.

Yes completely agree.

Harry isn’t black.

Please report the racist comments and they'll be deleted

please point out posts that you claim are racist. This is a thread about Harry and nothing to do with Meghan.
WinnieTheW0rm · 22/03/2022 08:05

Back to the original question and point of the thread.

These was reporting of the start of the court process to launch the Juducial Review.

The most recent I can find is from late Feb, and says that the judge will give his rulings on the initial proceedings at a later date.

I haven't seen anything since. Is that because it's still the wait, or have I missed something?

SallyLockheart · 22/03/2022 08:11

I can't find anything reported either. We hear that the court system has huge backlogs but I don't know if that is in certain levels of court or all court proceedings.

QuentininQuarantino · 22/03/2022 08:19

It’s obvious that M was subject to racist press when she was here (the monkey baby picture made me feel sick) and I understand wanting to ditch, but to go to the US… isn’t that just out of the frying pan and into the fire? Slagging off the UK as racist whilst claiming safety in a country with a shoot-first policing policy for black people…

Chilledchablis1 · 22/03/2022 08:49

Someone always drags in Andrew when Harry is being discussed ! The reason there are far fewer threads about Andrew is because 99% of the population agree he is an arrogant, unpleasant, morally devoid person . Not a lot to discuss .

Chilledchablis1 · 22/03/2022 08:50

@ SallyLockheart

I agree with your balanced comments.

SueSaid · 22/03/2022 09:11

'these Meghan threads only confirm to me'

It's about Harry. I for one haven't mentioned his wife once.

notanotheroneagain · 22/03/2022 09:22

Ashton Kutcher did not help Afghanistan, Syria etc. He only helped Ukraine. His choice. H&M also have a choice of who they will give big money to, and it's up to them that is not Ukraine.

That chef Jose of World Kitchen said they are working with Archewell. They are busy feeding Ukranians currently.

Roussette · 22/03/2022 09:26

Not a lot to discuss

Apart from his ability to keep his PPOs despite, as you say, he's morally repugnant

EdithWeston · 22/03/2022 09:28

@SallyLockheart

I can't find anything reported either. We hear that the court system has huge backlogs but I don't know if that is in certain levels of court or all court proceedings.
Now that the case has begun, presumably it's not subject to the backlog (made it to the front of the queue) ?

I don't know when the application was first made ie how long the wait was to get to this point.

They've said that only parts will be made public. I assume that means there is security service involvement
