Prince Harry not attending Philips memorial

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry will not be attending P Philips memorial service. What are people’s thoughts about this? Is the whole security issue a smoke screen for the fact he can’t face his family?

@Yeahthat

Exactly. Those who come on a thread to attack those who defend someone are utterly bizarre. Who does that? confused It is a form of gaslighting.

"Gaslighting" haha. No, just curious about an individual who's spent hours on this thread, posted 5 or 6 comments on this page alone, and seems to have a library of links ready to go to try to support what they say. Either paid to do so, or a very sad person.

Why is it sadder than those who seek out every Harry thread to pile hate on someone? I would suggest those that are on every Harry and Meghan thread to hate on them are far sadder. And quite pathetic.

@PinaColada123456

Just a note for those who attempt to blame Harry and William's mother for her death, seatbelt or not, driver over the limit or not, if they hadn't been relentlessly chased by the paps, the driver wouldn't have driven at the speed he did or take the risks he did, towards the end to get rid of the paps. So they were very much the root cause of the crash.
It's hardly a secret that when it suited her, Diana would tip off the 'Paps'. Live by the sword...
WhenPushComesToShove · 14/03/2022 15:34

@Fridgeorflight

Last time he was in the UK his car was chased by paparazzi. His mum died due to her car being chased by paparazzi. Security sounds like a valid concern to me.
His Mum's driver was drunk and she didn't wear a seatbelt. No security needed. Also don't call the paps in the usual Sussex fashion

Really? Where is the evidence of this? This is just another example of rumour, myth, legend being taken as gospel. Just because it is a repeated myth taken to be true does not make it true.

DesertStorms · 14/03/2022 15:35

No the guy who survived was Diana’s protection officer. His name was Trevor something if Inremember rightly. The driver was someone employed by Dodi who was asked to drive at short notice. The only survivor was Trevor. He was wearing a seatbelt.

I'm not aware of anyone who does, "seek out every Harry and Meghan thread to pile hate." In fact, I'm sure that once the security issue is over - provided they manage to go any length of time without sticking their noses back in the UK to either sue someone or something, demand some sort of apology, or publicly attack Harry's family - they'll very quickly fade from public consciousness.

DesertStorms · 14/03/2022 15:37

Actually sorry I am wrong. He was Dodis bodyguard.

Then you must be new to this site because the same posters show up on each and every thread about H and M and have done for at least 2 years. So much so these posters are discussed on other sites. You can even clock with an eggtimer how quickly certain posters will show up.

notanotheroneagain · 14/03/2022 15:38

@smilesy

The point is , if it did not matter for William, it should not matter for Harry.

I believe it was Harry’s intention to come but he can’t because of his alleged problem with security. And it is a whole service dedicated to Philip. It would have been a bit pointless of William to come back for a memorial that was a one minute part of something else.

He missed a bundle actually. A jubilee, together with Princess Margaret and Queen Mother remembrance.

All packaged together in one day and he couldn't even make that due to his holiday.

Trever Rees-Jones wasn't Diana's protection officer. She turned down the offer of both British and French police protection. He was a privately hired bodyguard. Henri Paul was deputy head of security at The Ritz.

As for the seat belt, initial reports said Rees-Jones was wearing one, but it's since come out that he was not.

I've watched at least one documentary where Ken Wharfe, her former protection officer said this. I would imagine it's in his book too?
Others whose names escape me also say the same.

That poster does not even have to look far, right on these Royal threads we have numbered threads with the same posters. Some do now and again change names ofcourse and claim that they live in the UK, US, Canada, wherever H&M are. But yes, we have the same posters posting negativity and harping the same things over and over.

There are a lot of royals who live relatively quiet lives out of the spotlight... Zara/Peter Phillips, Lady Chatto, the Spencer cousins... there is a bit of interest and the occasional Hello! feature but nowhere near as much! It would have been possible if Harry had genuinely wanted it. He wants the status (and a royal PPO gives you a lot of status!) without the accountability.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 14/03/2022 15:43

Why ignore the bloody obvious regarding drunk driving and seatbelts?
The only survivor of that terrible crash was the one person wearing a seatbelt.

Oh, really? I'm not monitoring the situation and seem to care far less than you, so I'll take your word for it.

Roussette · 14/03/2022 15:44

Either paid to do so, or a very sad person

I find it much more sad in all senses of the word, to hover on a thread continually having a dig at two people you don't know who are living their lives thousands of miles from you and not costing you anything. And then to insult endlessly anyone who dares to stick up for them. The hate of the couple must be off the scale to bully and insult like this.

And now this horrible thread has degenerated into some sort of blaming Diana for her death whilst intimating that paps had nothing to do with it, and she would've died anyway. Are you forgetting paps in cars were pursuing the car she was in which emboldened the driver to speed?
Like her or dislike her, the subtle blaming of her is unpleasant. Many mistakes were made but come on... have a bit of respect.

It's well-known that Diana played 'cat and mouse' with the press,and did so from the time she was Charles' teenaged girlfriend. The famous 'the kiss' photo was arranged with the photographer, who has lived off the proceeds ever since.

Yeahthat · 14/03/2022 15:45

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

Journalists and photographers have also said the same. I'd say it's pretty credible if supported by a former member of her own security team.

@Roussette

My opinion is that the driver who was over the limit and driving at 100mph+ through Paris whilst over the limit is responsible for the crash.

Couldn't care less if that's OK with you.

Yeahthat. You sound very wound up in your response to my one post.

Do take a break maybe!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 14/03/2022 15:56

Interested enough to respond to my post though.
