The Star Claim Kate is Seething with Jealousy over Meghan

I totally missed this. The Star newspaper claimed that Kate is seething with jealousy that Meghan no longer has to abide by Royal protocols and can live her life as she wants.

My personal take is that this is probably over-egged, which trashy tabloids ten to do. But I can imagine her at times feeling a bit jealous of Meghan's freedoms. Surely that would just be natural as she has to follow yet another Royal protocol, and yet sees Meghan doing what she wants to do?

So not exactly gagged and bound, the RF, are they?

What happened with the Lili name thing? Would I be right to assume that Harry has backed down from legal action because the BBC were accurate in their reporting or he doesn't want to bring legal action against his grandmother ?

Neither side are sitting down talking facts about what happened. I think that the Oprah interview created more questions than answers but I suspect that we won't get answers for the same reasons that we only know bits here and there about the RF - both sides will only discuss what they want to discuss. As an aside I think it's perfectly reasonable that M said that the Oprah interview would be the only interview that she'd be doing about the RF. if both sides rehashed their version of the truth, we'd still be hearing stuff in years to come.

Monarchy needs to be a bit distanced from the general public or they become an institution like reality tv families or politicians rather than "special"

The RF is a sexist institution. The men have much more leeway to say things than the women.

@Peaseblossum22

Kate adheres to Prince Philip’s mantra of never talking about yourself. Always talk about your work and others work. So when she speaks at an event she knows that her job is to highlight the role of the charity/cause hosting the event, not to highlight herself . She needs to be a blank canvas into which people can hook their cause, the more she speaks about herself the less effective she can be in that role. To coin Michelle Obama’s phrase that is the difference between ‘service’ and ‘public service’
You've nailed it

Are people other than Prince Charles involved?

Fawcett the Fence who's fallen on his forgiving sword for the third time.

Charles as ever is all wide-eyed innocence.

Quite liking the comments about Philip rarely saying anything about himself. The man lived on his hind legs yapping his unfiltered thoughts.

julieca · 15/12/2021 20:56

@CathyorClaire I agree. But Philip's posthumous reputation is turning out very different from who he actually was.

I agree. Once the Queen passes away I think that it will seem even more so
BringBackThinEyebrows · 15/12/2021 22:31

Did we get to the bottom of why Kate is jealous of Meghan specifically @julieca?

Viviennemary · 16/12/2021 00:02

I think it was decided that recollections may vary. Grin
