Did anyone watch this last night? About William and Harry and their different approaches to the press. Last night was part 1 of 2.

'considering that all their main houses are in London with 45% of the population'

They have loads of properties! they travel constantly and all over. Honestly it's not all London y'know.🙄

The point being they have been very transparent with their figures and have pledged to do more.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/11/2021 17:23

Since (the RF) didn’t have advance viewing of it, maybe they thought it would contain certain things that actually it didn’t

I guess that would make sense, but it's (another) terrible misjudgement if so

Why would any sane person attract attention to something which might otherwise have passed as nothing much?

rubicscubicle · 30/11/2021 17:40

Which is why I said MAIN houses. Windsor is in general has a lot of Londoners working there in general as it's a commuter town.

I expect the other places to be seasonal houses - not that I don't expect people of colour to work there as well.

Roussette · 30/11/2021 17:51

William and Kate have certainly not been 'transparent' as they were the only royal office to decline to provide figures.

Viviennemary · 30/11/2021 17:52

Even I am beginning to feel all this who did what and who briefed against who has run its course now.

debbrianna · 30/11/2021 18:03

From Meghan's experience some of her staff were hired based on "who know" instead of insperience. I will assume they don't have blind Cvs either.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 30/11/2021 18:18

Too right @Roussette - I thought the lawyer came over really well, as did Omid Scobie. As opposed to some of the royal correspondents. They were still mad about the babies birth, weren't they?

minou123 · 30/11/2021 18:22

Maybe the simple fact is that people of mixed race don’t want to work for the RF. It would be interesting to know what the ethnicity of people who apply for jobs there is. I suspect it is mostly white . So maybe not the fault of the RF

As part of my job , I have to read a lot of Corporate Reports.
Anyway, this reminds me of a statement in an Oil company's corporate report.

They said that the reason they have no women in senior positions, including management and the board, is because women are not interested in Oil.

🤣I’m certainly not!
Roussette · 30/11/2021 18:25

Yep. They obviously feel like they own H&M and their baby! How very dare they do it differently, the RRs were right pissed off, and if it annoys C Tominey all the better

TheElvishQueen · 30/11/2021 18:25

I would imagine a fair number of people would think they don’t want to work for a hide bound institution like that. ( Royal family). Lots of protocols and speaking when you’re spoken to.

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 30/11/2021 18:26

@julieca

I too think Meghan and Harry thought she was used to being in the public eye as an actress, and totally underestimated the major negative press she would go on to receive.
Completely agree - having lived in the states for a long time, I can vouch that the British tabloid press is quite shocking in its vitriol.
Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 30/11/2021 18:28

I know! I was always quite sympathetic to H&M anyway, but was cheering them on when it came to the report about the birth. A giant FU to the press.
Roussette · 30/11/2021 18:28

On all the RF/M&H threads there's been quite a few friends of friends of friends who work there... funny that 😁

Roussette · 30/11/2021 18:30

That's interesting Wooly. I always imagined it was a lot worse but I think you have to live elsewhere to actually know about the press elsewhere

I agree... Meghan wanted her own Doctor I believe and why not if you can do that.

derxa · 30/11/2021 18:31

The absolute rotters! Booooooo!
Roussette · 30/11/2021 18:32

I did find it interesting when Rachel Johnson said “when I did write positively about Meghan, nobody wanted to read it” So, the press cynically benefit from nasty “stories” about her.

She confirmed it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/11/2021 18:33

WTAF?Shock

Roussette · 30/11/2021 18:35

derxa I don't think of them as 'rotters'.

I imagine they have something to hide when every other household but them release their figures.

Let's see if they do next Summer

TheElvishQueen · 30/11/2021 18:41

'Yep. They obviously feel like they own H&M and their baby! How very dare they do it differently, the RRs were right pissed off, and if it annoys C Tominey all the better'

Totally agree rousette (bet you never thought you'd hear me say that Grin). They absolutely had the right to privacy and to announce it as and when they decided, who cares about tradition. Having said that H should maybe have said from the off 'there will be no scroll announcing the Labour or delivery, no showing of the baby, it will be a 100% private event'. Yes the media wouldn't have been keen but by that stage it wouldn't have mattered, pretending they'd do as expected but be so obviously reluctant with the 'mix up' over announcements just seemed a bit silly

'I agree... Meghan wanted her own Doctor I believe and why not if you can do that.'

Absolutely and of course she would have full and easy access to HCPs of her choice 24/7.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/11/2021 18:47

I was always quite sympathetic to H&M anyway, but was cheering them on when it came to the report about the birth. A giant FU to the press

I was quite neutral on that one, thinking it was up to them to announce the birth when they were ready
That said - and bearing in mind how the media behave - it seemed to me to storing up problems for the future to fudge the timeline in any announcement. Tempting as it must have been to give reporters a bloody nose, why not have just said nothing at all?

upinaballoon · 30/11/2021 18:49

@JaniieJones

'Maybe the simple fact is that people of mixed race don’t want to work for the RF. It would be interesting to know what the ethnicity of people who apply for jobs there is. I suspect it is mostly white . So maybe not the fault of the RF.'

Oh we don't want common sense suggestions, it's apparently because they're all racists! 🙄

Perhaps from now on all jobs for the RF should be advertised as 'Only black people need apply'.
One of the narratives in the UK and on here is that 'the RF is racist' so why would anyone reading that, and who is not white, apply for jobs where the suggestion is that they will be treated in a terrible way?
Roussette · 30/11/2021 18:49

bet you never thought you'd hear me say that

Wowser Janiie, there must be some Christmas cheer goin' on! Grin

derxa · 30/11/2021 18:52

Once again it would seem odd to have a lawyer from the Sussexes side declaring innocence when there are still ongoing investigations going on. That was dreadful.
