Did anyone watch this last night? About William and Harry and their different approaches to the press. Last night was part 1 of 2.

‘Charles is not the royal racist’ makes it sound like there is a royal racist just, it’s not Charles 😆

julieca · 30/11/2021 16:01

"The courtiers on the York and Cambridge sides seemed pretty diverse and young, with lots of women and included Americans, Australians, plus a Ghanaian equerry."

Yes I have heard this before. The fact that you think this is diverse in what is now a very diverse country, astounds me. Oh wow they have young people, and a few Americans and Australians, and even one Ghanian equerry!!
It is well know the staff at Buckingham Palace are mainly white, in a very diverse City.
The RF staff are not at all diverse.

No the 'staff' aren't diverse, but I was talking about the people working directly with Meghan, not the people in Windsor Castle or Buckingham Palace (where Meghan didn't live).

Really? I'm interested in that. From what I'd seen it was people who'd been in the job for decades.

Certainly from the 2020/21 accounts.. K&W's household were the only ones to refrain from giving their ethnicity staff figures and the Palace said 'we are not where we would like to be' on this. Or words to that effect.
The fact KP refused to release its staff diversity figures is not good.

Roussette · 30/11/2021 16:09

But when the two offices split, didn't H&M have their office in BP?

julieca · 30/11/2021 16:17

How many people are we talking about?
14.4% of people in the UK are from an ethnic minority. So unless less than 7 people, the ethnic diversity doesn't even reflect the population.
And it is the first time I have heard American or Australians being referred to as a diverse workforce in the UK.

julieca · 30/11/2021 16:18

@Roussette they probably have 2 Australians and consider themselves to be diverse enough.

Roussette · 30/11/2021 16:20

😂🤣

There will be a reason why they don't/won't release the figures. Charles did. The Queen did. W&K Nope.

Let's see if they do next year....

julieca · 30/11/2021 16:26

Just looked on the RF website. Looks like they have an ethnically diverse staff team working in the shops from the photos. Apart from that a black HR manager. But apart from that, very white. London is estimated to have 44% of the population as ethnic minority. The shops staff look in the photo to reflect that, but everywhere else, nope.

rubicscubicle · 30/11/2021 16:33

I think that was the issue in the complaint, that the RF only wants people of colour in kitchen, cleaning and other low paying roles. Infact for a lot of people they attributed the mistreatment of MM to the staff not being used to a person of colour in authority.

Gosh, that lone Ghanian equerry gets around, thought he worked for the queen. 🤣🤣

debbrianna · 30/11/2021 16:35

Charlse the royal racist is from a book coming out. They are taking the author to court if they didn't retract that statement. It also came out on the eve of Barbados becoming a Republic.

I think regarding the documentary, people who spend thier time on these threads, it's nothing new. To alot of people, most or some of those stories will be new.

julieca · 30/11/2021 16:35

Probably gets shared between all the RF to bump up their diversity numbers.

Maybe the simple fact is that people of mixed race don’t want to work for the RF. It would be interesting to know what the ethnicity of people who apply for jobs there is. I suspect it is mostly white . So maybe not the fault of the RF.
julieca · 30/11/2021 16:36

Yes you are right, he works for the Queen.

Lieutenant Colonel Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah, MVO (born 1979) is a Ghanaian-born officer in the British Army. Appointed by Queen Elizabeth II as her equerry, he is the first black man to hold this position.

Oh we don't want common sense suggestions, it's apparently because they're all racists! 🙄

julieca · 30/11/2021 16:40

@TheElvishQueen honestly so many racist bosses say that. It is bullshit.

This has to be the most ridiculous statement I have heard so far.

Over 40% people of colour in London and absolutely no one wants to work for the Royal Family? How bad can the RF be. Maybe people of colour would take exception if the rf were some kind of neo-nazi organisation. Other than that, so many people are looking for jobs.

Nah, more like they don't employ them. Probably make sure the environment for them is not so friendly too - as they have now demonstrated with MM.

SueSaid · 30/11/2021 17:10

'Nah, more like they don't employ them. Probably make sure the environment for them is not so friendly too - as they have now demonstrated with MM.'

Oh give it a rest. I'm sure they were 'friendly', the Sussexes seemed to want to call the shots and shine their lights where they chose to, not where they were told to that is all.

They have been very transparent and said proportion of employees from ethnic backgrounds 8.5% with a target of 10% by 2022. General pop 14%. Seems like they are employing 'them' and realise they need to do more.

TheElvishQueen · 30/11/2021 17:15

Your statement is pretty stupid too. Not just anyone can work for the RF. So it isn't a case of no one wanting to work for them from a mixed race background, more a case of many fewer applicants and of those many wouldn't be suitable. Their suitability is calculated on all sorts of criteria I imagine, as its a very sensitive type of post. No doubt you''ll consider this post racist as usual.
rubicscubicle · 30/11/2021 17:15

It has already been stated they employ 'them' in the kitchens etc. and 10% is unacceptable, considering that all their main houses are in London with 45% of the population.

rubicscubicle · 30/11/2021 17:18

Your post does imply that people of colour are not suitable, how is that possible. And what is this criteria, that people of colour cannot meet, but white people can?
