Royal party on 19th October

There's to be a party on 19th October to thank celebs who donated to the Diana statue. Elton John will be there. It was reported a few days ago H&M would probably/might come. Now apparently they're not coming. Which is better because all the focus would be on them and who snubbed who. But as its only going be an hour long and probably not televised what woul be the point of coming all that way. I also read the other day that they may lead their own jubilee celebrations next year in the USA. Shock

Celebitchy hates The Royal Family since Meghan. Initially when Charles conducted Meghan up the aisle and looked after Meghan's mother, they thought the RF was great. But when things went south, they took Meghans side and now everything William and Kate do, they exaggeratedly criticise. So even when the world went crazy over how fab Kate looked at the Bond premiere, Celebitchy did a piece on how bad she looked - even their readership, strong critics of the RF generally - disagreed with the writer. But as a site that's the editorial line now. There'll be nothing nice said about HM, PC, PW or KM on that site.

NeonTetras · 20/10/2021 17:20

I think Celebitchy balance up the overwhelmingly hateful articles from the UK and elsewhere like Australia/New Zealand. American-based Celebitchy saw the racist way Meghan was treated by the UK, and were aghast. The attacking of a woman of colour is a BIG thing for Americans, they will support their own. And fair call too, since the UK supports their own (William and Kate, and the rest of the RF). I also like that they call out the Queen for her hypocrisy over the environment and then getting her properties exempt from tax, and William and Kate over their blatant PR manipulations. No one else is doing it! It's all bad press for Meghan and Harry, good press for butter-wouldn't-melt-in-their-mouths Teflon William and Kate. So good on them for being the 1% who push back against the 99% of the rest of the media, who are anti H & M pile-on and who call out the RF for what they do. It's about time because the media imbalance is so unfair.

@SallyLockheart

media tittle tattle, hardly a reliable source
Nor are CDAN or Blind Gossip yet both have been cited as believable sources on Mumsnet when they've said something negative about Meghan.
madisonbridges · 20/10/2021 17:43

@NeonTetras. Celebitchy is a privately owned blog that comments on news articles. It does not write news. It employs writers that fit in with their own politically ideology. Other people need not apply. They said practically those words when they advertised for the latest writer.

They can employ who they want, it's their money. They can write for or against the RF and MM. It's their site. (They get in twisty kits over PH because of his past behaviour vs his marriage to MM.)

The article they wrote is an opinion piece. Many people may not have heard of the site and so I am just balancing the view by saying what their editorial line is, (even when their readership disagree with them,) that they will always say that everything the RF do is bad and everything MM & PH do is good. They have no journalistic connections to know anything other than what you or I can read in any newspaper. However, just as the Daily Mail can write what they want so can Celebitchy. But both do so with bias.

SallyLockheart · 20/10/2021 18:00

Becky. I would consider those two as media tittle tattle as well - not reliable source either.

There’s also a few sites out there that consist of incredulous former Celebitchy posters who have all been banned and had their posts deleted for daring to question, even mildly the site’s orthodoxy (that Kate and William are the absolute worst in all possible ways and Meghan and Harry are the best humans the world has ever seen). On royal topics that site is a intentional, curated propaganda cult, I’m afraid. I used to read it quite a bit before the advent of Meghan. It never used to be a hate site, but they clearly follow the clicks. Referring to it as a source is more than a bit eyebrow raising.

madisonbridges · 20/10/2021 19:20

@Serenster. I used to enjoy reading it. It was about fashion and light gossip. But it was never nasty. I think it changed after Kaiser joined. She doesn't have the lightness of touch and humour that Celebitchy and Hecate had. Long before MM was on the scene people were being banned because they challenged what Kaiser was saying. When Trump came along it just became 75% political really. Which is fine but it was too repetitive and I gave up. I think its readership is suffering because I notice they're asking people to support them and buy from affiliate links.
It's sad because it used to be a great site.

@NeonTetras

Speak for yourself. Neither I nor most Americans think the definition of "racism" is "any criticism, deserved or not, of any person of color." Most of us recognize that that's just not a workable definition.

rubicscubicle · 20/10/2021 20:12

@NeonTetras said great commentary. She did not say it was a newspaper, like DM. At least, CB does not go around pretending to have the news from the 'sources' like DM does. Infact, DM should be demoted to the likes of CB.

And yes, it's good to have a popular site that does not jump on the DM bandwagon for negative clicks like BG. BG is even lower because they claim to have 'sources' which is completely false. And they pretend they have 'news'. CB just comments on what is being covered by mainstream.

Yes, its good to see that it's readers are anti racism with MM.

madisonbridges · 20/10/2021 20:34

No, I agree she didn't say it was a newspaper, she said great comments on this site. But people might not know that site so I clarified that it was an opinion site, it produces no new facts and it wasn't unbiased. To be fair, even Celebitchy itself says that.
