Royal party on 19th October

There's to be a party on 19th October to thank celebs who donated to the Diana statue. Elton John will be there. It was reported a few days ago H&M would probably/might come. Now apparently they're not coming. Which is better because all the focus would be on them and who snubbed who. But as its only going be an hour long and probably not televised what woul be the point of coming all that way. I also read the other day that they may lead their own jubilee celebrations next year in the USA. Shock

I did hear it called a state visit by several reporters. In a sarcastic way I acknowledge. But I wasn't the one who coined the phrase.

Ahhh good old DM again!

No idea why people take on board their jibes!

Viviennemary · 13/10/2021 21:37

Actually there's an article in the Times saying something along the lines - the hugs the handsakes it was like a royal tour except it wasn't. There is no doubt eyebrows have been raised over their New York visit.

Roussette · 13/10/2021 22:07

Lol, not my eyebrows!
They can go where they want, we aren't paying for them, and if people want to spend time with them, all well and good.
Why worry about it.. it's up to them

I'd say the RF have bigger things to worry about at the moment if your concern is about them. If not, they're free to do what they want!

Viviennemary · 13/10/2021 22:09

Not if they are using royal connections to open doors and for political agendas. It most certainly is a concern.

OP posts:
Roussette · 13/10/2021 22:14

He'll always be related to the monarch of the UK, like it or not.
No concern at all.

Well done them for getting on with their lives and I think the RF's focus is elsewhere at the moment, for obvious reasons

Mysterian · 13/10/2021 22:31

Is that first paragraph all about your eyebrows? Why do you not care where your eyebrows go? Are they free to come shopping with me on the weekend?
Keyring · 13/10/2021 23:01

No need to worry about them as they are ploughing their own furrow in the States. Let them be. They're not important in the grand scheme of things. The Americans will not let them position themselves as a quasi royal family.

SteppinOutwithMyBaby · 14/10/2021 03:03

@Samcro "step siblings"? I thought the DofS's siblings were half siblings, not step. Isn't Thomas senior father to all three of the children?

Or is it a cultural thing, and step siblings means a different thing in different countries?

PurpleOkapi · 14/10/2021 03:48

People are calling the NYC trip a state visit because it was officially treated as one. Do you think they close major roadways and provide security convoys for every famous person who decides to go there? They don't. So many famous people live there that nothing would ever be open if they did that. They never shut anything down for Beatrice when she lived there, and they were right not to.

amusedtodeath1 · 14/10/2021 04:07

I love the whole "you're so invested in people who you don't even know" mocker!

Can't you see the hypocrisy, when you're on this thread defending people who you don't even know..... I can't take it seriously 😂

Bogeyes · 14/10/2021 04:49

Who gives a toss?

BadgerB · 14/10/2021 07:37

I haven't looked at an H&M thread for several weeks. Back then it was mostly criticism, now mostly support .
Have the "haters" given up? Been scared off?

PreparationPreparationPrep · 14/10/2021 07:48

Oooh they are still here - This thread is an example of how flimsy it gets. I would defend someone I don't know much about than constantly criticising them. It would drive me mad. But as pp said people are free to start a thread and post what they like however disingenuous it may be.

my mistake,

EdithWeston · 14/10/2021 07:51

Have the "haters" given up? Been scared off?

That rather depends on whether you are polarising posters into 'haters/fans' or if you see that there are a large number who simply do not fit that dichotomy and never did, and who are still here and posting pretty consistently

Samcro · 14/10/2021 09:36

really. did you not see the old threads?
most people are in the middle. annoyed by them, but don't think they deserve the dislike they get. most of the time they are doing what other members of the RF do.

I'm not a 'hater' but not a fan either. I'm just bored hearing about them. Good luck to them. I'm glad they're keeping Lili and Archie away from the press and photographers.
SueSaid · 14/10/2021 17:10

'Have the "haters" given up? Been scared off?'

They haven't released any cringeworthy and desperately attention seeking pod casts/books/gossipy interviews trashing their beloved family recently. When they do I will of course be back scrutinising their hypocrisy.

Hopefully they are just becoming more and more irrelevant so therefore generate less discussion.

Fwiw I'm not a 'hater' just one of the many who see through their shite.

Ditto.

Latest is Elton John has pulled out as he is recovering from hip surgery. Gossip is that he has pulled out because H&M are not invited. No I'd say it was the hip surgery. See I don't believe everything I read.

OP posts:
BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 15/10/2021 08:03

Elton announced his hip surgery last month and cancelled his world tour then so I'd have been surprised if he had made an appearance at this party!

In fact, is there even going to be a party? Kate is at a charity dinner on 19th October but I suppose William could attend solo.

Viviennemary · 15/10/2021 09:29

Its only going to be for an hour. Hardly seems worth it. Certainly not worth hopping across the pond in a private jet. Even if Elton does offer to plant a tree.

OP posts:
BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 15/10/2021 09:32

Also, the statue is awful and doesn't capture the essence of Diana at all!

EdithWeston · 15/10/2021 10:25

Well, just for a party would be a bit much. But it could have been an occasion to build in to a wider family visit
