Royal party on 19th October

There's to be a party on 19th October to thank celebs who donated to the Diana statue. Elton John will be there. It was reported a few days ago H&M would probably/might come. Now apparently they're not coming. Which is better because all the focus would be on them and who snubbed who. But as its only going be an hour long and probably not televised what woul be the point of coming all that way. I also read the other day that they may lead their own jubilee celebrations next year in the USA. Shock

Why is there a party? William and Harry spent time with them on the day of the unveiling.

So glad they aren't coming back... who wants to feed the vile DM. Who would want to put themselves through that.

Viviennemary · 15/10/2021 10:41

The party is to thank the folk who donated to the statue. I wonder if the Spencer sisters will be there as Diana's family members.

Because it was always intended there would be a reception, but it was postponed (not cancelled) cos covid

Roussette · 15/10/2021 11:19

Ahhh... I thought it was all done and dusted on the day. It looks like it's going to be a bit of a non event then.

Viviennemary · 15/10/2021 11:32

I agree with that Roussette. But I suppose since it was postponed they feel obliged to go ahead.

Yes, absolutely.

@JaniieJones

'Have the "haters" given up? Been scared off?'

They haven't released any cringeworthy and desperately attention seeking pod casts/books/gossipy interviews trashing their beloved family recently. When they do I will of course be back scrutinising their hypocrisy.

Hopefully they are just becoming more and more irrelevant so therefore generate less discussion.

Fwiw I'm not a 'hater' just one of the many who see through their shite.

They are always in the news - just depends on how desperate posters are to engage in another bashing thread I guess or whether they have something more news worthy to think about. Anyway whether it's old news regurgitated on or they continue to be in the news daily for all sorts of things as they still generate an income for the media. Here is one for you In case you really believed they had gone quiet.

Even worse @PreparationPreparationPrep, it appears Archie, Lily AND Harry have made the list of the most popular baby names in the UK this past year!

upinaballoon · 18/10/2021 16:42

It reminds me of the time when Clarrie Grundy called her firstborn William.

rubicscubicle · 18/10/2021 17:53

I am actually surprised that no one started a thread on ethical.

In the meantime, BetterUp have said their subscriptions have gone up thanks to Harry's involvement.

The British Media has also kept quiet about the Kavango Oil Drill which is front pages in African newspapers.

Don't know if it's hard to twist them into a negative.

As someone who works in a school, I can tell you those names have been firm favourites for several years now. Archie has definitely become more popular than Harry - well before there was a royal Archie.
rubicscubicle · 18/10/2021 18:11

Does your school represent all of the UK or something?

BeckyWithTheAverageHair · 18/10/2021 18:13

Popular yes, but it's the first time Archie has entered the top 10 according to the ONS and I assume they know what they're talking about given that it's stats-based!

ajandjjmum · 18/10/2021 18:42

This thread reminds me of why I stopped looking at the H & M threads - total boredom - same people saying the same things.

I admit I work in a very white, middle class school but you do see the changing trends over the years. Archie has been popular for ages. I don’t think we have a single Harry now but a decade ago, there was one in every year group at least.

I could totally twist BetterUp into a negative. I thought workplace wellness programs were a racket well before Harry decided to shill for one.

Let's face it, they could cure cancer and you'd find a way to totally twist that into a negative!

You had always thought that - really? But you didn't feel it necessary to voice that to all the others making the money at the time of even now. only now H&M are also doing it -

Viviennemary · 19/10/2021 20:17

Not a word about this anywhere. Its meant to be tonight. They must be keeping it low key.

Let them do that and then we'll see.
Viviennemary · 19/10/2021 20:45

Ok thanks. I read last week it was tonight. Which I did think was a bit strange. Anyway goes to show you can't believe everything you read. Grin

I've voiced it plenty of times at my own workplace. Where else would I have done so? It wasn't exactly a hot topic on MN or anywhere else before H&M got involved. Should I have randomly started a thread about it before?
