Blurb from publisher.

In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him.

Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, on that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous and uplifting human story.'

It isn’t remotely credible for them to expect close family members to be photographed near them at a chastening (which is all it is)

A chastening! You win the autocorrect malaprop prize of the day (assuming it wasn't intentional?). Either way it's a winner. I shall now be referring to the chastening. Grin

Pmsl at the Alan Partridge voice

Finding Harry

The story of how delusion never changed into something real. We’re wide awake and we can see his perfect life is torn. Meghan’s a little late. He’s already torn.

Rainbunny · 20/07/2021 09:59

Can't lie, it will be interesting to see if they attend the Queen's jubilee next year. Apparently the book is scheduled to come out in Autumn of next year, so after the jubilee. Princess Anne is helping to organise the jubilee so I imagine some invitations might possibly be rescinded? Lost in the mail...

GreenCrayon · 20/07/2021 09:59

Who is FF?

I think the poster is referring to the book Finding Freedom.

Billlius · 20/07/2021 10:00

He couldn’t be that man who we adored. He doesn’t seem to know, seem to care what his heart is for.

IcedPurple · 20/07/2021 10:02

@Roussette

Exactly, and I think it might well be a fascinating insight into what it's like to be a Royal. I've never subscribed to the total opaqueness and mystique of the RF. We pay for them, we should know more in my humble opinion.
Why do we have a right to know what goes on behind palace walls? Surely everyone has a right to a private life?

I thought the Harkles were against all that.

If Cressidea or Chelsy were to write a book revealing all the sordid details about their relationship with Harry, would that be a good thing too?

We do agree that the only thing Harry has to sell is his royal connections though.

friendlycat · 20/07/2021 10:06

It's the irony of it all that seems to completely allude them.

Her father talking to the press that has led to him being cut off (which I can completely understand, though it's tough that he has never met his son in law and grandchildren.)

Nobody would give a jot about him and his "fascinating and influential" life were it not for the fact that he is a member of the British Royal Family. If he were Joe Bloggs, plumber, IT Specialist, Pub Manager or whatever there would be no TV appearances or book deals etc. It is all because of his background being born into the Royal Family that he and she can create these money making ventures. She alone could not do this being an actress in Suits.

But the deep irony of then completely trashing your background and priviledge that has led you to acquiring your wealth just is so priceless.

Rewind to 2018 and the Royal Wedding. I remember Meghan being viewed as a great tonic with the prospect of both of them doing good charity works and developing their own areas to take forward for the future. Now look at the mess of it all.

This one trick pony though is very quickly going to run out of steam as he/they can't keep flogging this horse much longer. Then what is left for them having aired so much in public? They have no allure left, they are viewed with ridicule for their bleatings.

the80sweregreat · 20/07/2021 10:07

I honestly hope they don't return to the UK for anything.
He must be aware of how disliked he is here and how being at any public events will end up being all about them. It'll just be a misery fest : better to stay away surely ? I know I would.
What's the point of them hanging around people they clearly don't like much and have dissed at every opportunity?

Serenster · 20/07/2021 10:08

Many of the posters who have been supportive of Harry & Meghan have fiercely criticised those who aren’t fans for ages on the basis that they apparently they think they “own” them, and have a right to expect details they would prefer to keep private. This, we have been told, time and time again, is an unacceptable viewpoint.

Yet when the situation is reversed, apparently “we pay for them, we should know more”. Okay.

Yes it's fascinating. Hypocritical even!
Marmaladeagain · 20/07/2021 10:17

Chastening Grin oh yes one is thoroughly deserved 😆

LadyHaversham · 20/07/2021 10:19

Take away the HRH and Harry is the pub bore.

That title deserves an award. Copyright it quickly before Elton uses it for the musical.

adamant8 · 20/07/2021 10:27

It’ll be interesting to see what he has to say about the despicable Prince Andrew.

Yes, but he won't say anything , will he? Too scared to go down that route I bet.

I doubt it will include anything on Andrew. It will most likely be a repeat of what he's already said in both finding freedom and the oprah interview. If he wanted to talk about stuff like that he would have done so already.
Bovrilly · 20/07/2021 10:34

This is the issue with memoirs promising a "wholly truthful" story - he will be criticised if he leaves out the difficult bits, not just Andrew but the racism, the Vegas thing, killing big game for sport etc. A lot of it is quite unedifying stuff.
viques · 20/07/2021 10:37

@LadyHaversham

Take away the HRH and Harry is the pub bore.
Nailed it. In twenty years time he will be propping up the bar wearing grubby worn out friendship and charity wristbands , as bloated and unattractive as his Uncle Andrew but with less interesting stories to tell. At closing time he will be folded into an Uber and driven home to an empty apartment fully funded by his family.
the80sweregreat · 20/07/2021 10:38

The Vegas incident was ( mostly) supported as was the nazi uniform debacle oddly enough .
I remember the phone ins and articles at the time and it was all ' poor , misunderstood Harry ' he was , once, well liked and seen as a bit of a ' lad'.

RaspberryRoyale88 · 20/07/2021 10:38

If this is anything like The Bench it will be a lot of over indulgent shite.

Marmaladeagain · 20/07/2021 10:40

I think it might be H’s version of other people’s lives within the RF rather than reflecting on the unedifying life he lived. That’s the USP I’d expect.

As you say everything out there in public already, except who he blames for his poor behaviour (won’t be himself).

the80sweregreat · 20/07/2021 10:42

I saw ' the bench ' for sale in Morrison's ( reduced) the other day.
Had a pretty cover , but I didn't feel compelled to pick it up for a look!
