Prince George at Wembley

So cute, love the photos of him at Wembley.
Especially the one of him hugging his Mum in excitement. Despite their wealth/ privilege they do seem to be a ‘normal’ family.
Wasn’t too fussed on Kate’s red earrings, though.

I love the pic of him looking up at his dad after the first goal.

I don't get why people get in such a fuss about him wearing a shirt & tie.

onlyhereforthecake · 12/07/2021 10:37

I did read that P George wanted to be dressed the same as daddy, but don’t let that get in the way of a good royal bash eh

if you read it somewhere online, it must be true 😂

Applesonthelawn · 12/07/2021 10:38

It was probably not much different to wearing his school uniform so I doubt very much it was uncomfortable or that he cared. He would just have seen it as normal.

There's nothing wrong with having a dress code.

RockStarGuitar · 12/07/2021 10:38

What's wrong with appropriate dress? God, not everyone lives their life in elastic-waist clothing.

🤣🤣🤣

IcedPurple · 12/07/2021 10:39

They HAD to be. Whatever they do in front of the cameras is always for show, one way or another.

So when they don't show emotion they're cold and distant, but when they do cheer and hug each other it's all 'for show'?

Frazzled2207 · 12/07/2021 10:40

Pleased that he was allowed to go but my son is exactly the same age and would have absolutely hated to have to wear a suit. I get that it's the Royal Box but there should be exceptions if you're only 7!

JinglingHellsBells · 12/07/2021 10:40

Not sure about discussing a child on a forum.

He’s very used to wearing a suit though so this won’t have been odd or uncomfortable for him.

Perhaps there are but he was OK with wearing the suit for a few hours?

Well, you're manipulating what we all saw with our own eyes to fit your narrative.

Why would you bother? Why do you feel the need to make the point that what we all saw was not real?

Can you not see the smiling, cheering and hugging family in these photos? Why are you insisting that this didn't happen, when millions of people saw it?
Yes of course I can see that but it's still very different to the joy of other families in the crowd and for the majority of the game, they looked very disinterested with one another and unnatural every time the camera was on them.

The prince looks very happy in this image (well aside from the uncomfortable looking suit) but Kate, to me, looks as always like a woman who has spent her entire life preparing for the role she wanted so much and William sadly looks as stiff and awkward as his Dad.
It's him I actually feel the most sorry for.

Chanel05 · 12/07/2021 10:45

Wonderful to see him so excited and enjoying himself.

CatherineMorland · 12/07/2021 10:46

Our royals?
Suited and booted, stony faced and looking totally disinterested in one another.

Did we watch the same match? GrinGrin

I thought they all seemed so engaged, happy to be there and excited.

IcedPurple · 12/07/2021 10:47

Were you watching the match or watching the VIP box?

The camera only panned to them a handful of times. You've just been shown several photos where they were behaving quite 'naturally' yet you prefer not to see it. Other than cheering and hugging when England was winning, and looking sad when they'd lost, what exactly do you want them to do?

walkoflifewoohoo · 12/07/2021 10:48

"Pleased that he was allowed to go but my son is exactly the same age and would have absolutely hated to have to wear a suit."

Right, I take it you can get your head around the fact that your son and a little prince have very different lives and wardrobes?

RockStarGuitar · 12/07/2021 10:48

Some people really can turn anything into something horrible and negative. What on earth is wrong with some people?

Roussette · 12/07/2021 10:50

I don't know about George in his suit (don't really care TBH, up to them) but what a pillock Boris looked. Not only did he put his England Tshirt over his shirt and tie, but then later on put his suit jacket over the top! What a sight

Cambridges looked like they enjoyed it, how could they fail not to with the best seats in the house, and an electric atmosphere. But let's not pretend they are just like any other normal family Shock Nothing could be further from the truth!

JudgeJ · 12/07/2021 10:51

Afraid that ship has already sailed. The same Italians criticising (quite rightly) the trolling of the German child, are now doing the same to English ones, including George.
Obviously they are, I'm not condoning it, it's hateful, but I do wish that all the England-haters on this site would grow up and realise it happens everywhere but it's only wrong in England apparently.

MagicSummer · 12/07/2021 10:51

I can't understand people saying W,K & G didn't look 'normal'. No, they are not 'normal' as in like everybody else. I wouldn't want to see them chanting, draping themselves in flags, wearing horrible football shirts (all that polyester!), and generally being seen as 'we're all the same'. They are supposed to be setting an example to other people, and George was quite right to wear a suit. He has to learn about what will be expected of him during his life - better start now than make it a shock when he's about 14!

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 12/07/2021 10:53

He's a future king. He isn't Joe Bloggs from Anytown Primary. I don't suppose his clothes were very different from his school uniform, and I am sure he wears 'normal' clothes when out of the public eye.

Roussette · 12/07/2021 10:53

Where has anyone said it's only wrong in England? Nowhere. It's wrong anywhere and we are talking about the country we are in.
Just because other countries do vile things, doesn't make it better for England at all.

JudgeJ · 12/07/2021 10:53

@Chanel05

He was probably like every other child last night, very excited with the goal then the disappointment of the penalties. It's a hard time being an England fan!
DottyHarmer · 12/07/2021 10:54

Agree @RockStarGuitar. If people were slating what Archie might wear to a “soccer” game, let alone his relationship with H&M then there would be mass shrieking.

I am disgusted at the nastiness on this thread. Some people are truly twisted.

Maggiesfarm · 12/07/2021 10:54

Just to add, they looked perfectly normal to me.

The family attended an Aston Villa match 2 years ago, and the kids were dressed 'normally' and sat in 'normal' seats, along with their security detail no doubt.

I think having George in a suit was a) because they were in the VIP box and b) because his father was there in his official capacity as FA President. Whereas at the Aston Villa match they were just fans. I agee that it's good for George to be gently eased into his role from a young age, and perhaps the different dress codes are a good way to do it.
