Harry to sue BBC

I just read Harry is going to sue the BBC for announcing the Queen wasn't consulted over the name Lilibet. They said she was told of their plans . Maybe told isnt quite the same as consulted. When is this all going to end. Seems to be getting worse instead of improving.

I saw those photos of HMQ last night. I thought she seemed smaller and a bit more vulnerable then I’d seen her before. She’s grieving her husband and this seems so unfair.

AncientandFabulous · 10/06/2021 07:27

Some great posts Diverseopinions

@GlencoraP

Just seen the pictures of the Queen in Prince Philip’s rose garden. She looks so small and frail and very hunched, she has aged so much in the last year but even in the last couple of months.

What a mess, yet again Harry has dropped Meghan in it, what a ghastly man he is. He will let her take the flack but actually he is the one who will have known how badly this would go down within the family . He just wanted to go one better than all of his cousins who have used Elizabeth in their children’s names to honour their grandmother.

The name Lilibet is just about the only thing that HMQ has that is not public property, I am not talking about possessions but about her persona. Very few people were given the privilege of using it and although everyone knew about the name it was never publicly used. Now just as she loses her husband it’s being bandied around everywhere and she is being gaslighted by her clearly pretty unstable grandson.

Totally this . Poor Queen(

If you're talking rumours here, I've read the rumours about what Harry got up to when he left his army barracks (which is much more despicable than cheating rumours). If that's even partially true he should've been arrested never mind have family be 'angry' with him.

I'm not anti H&M ..I am anti the entire RF, which H is very much a part of. They are all as bad as eachother.

I wish Philip had called the queen Peachy Arse
His nickname for her was Cabbage.
Not Lillibet. So ummm halfway there of course.

I'm trying to work out what H and M are doing and I think I have done so now. I think they are doing their own modern and progressive new take on being part of the monarchy. This involves not taking any nonsense from the press

So agree with this. Good for them.

And Diverse you ask why did the book have the name Duchess of Sussex on it. Why did Sarah Ferguson write 70 books, with over half of them styled as Sarah, Duchess of York and gems such as 'Dining with the Duchess'. Those before her have done it. Are the rules different for Meghan?

smilesy · 10/06/2021 07:33

@Billandben444 I realised about the Princess Lilibet thing too and I thought “oh dear, that’s a tad Disney” 🤣

silentpool · 10/06/2021 07:34

Megan and Harry are exhausting.

PinkTonic · 10/06/2021 07:34

It's inconsistent, in a way, that the Queen is to be honoured by her informal and private name being chosen for a new baby, rather than a full official name, and yet Meghan and Harry, one if whom has been a royal for about three years only, use very formal and old-fashioned titles on many, many occasions when it is not logical or strictly fitting to do so. Why is a book for children presented with the author styled as a duchess and named this way on the front cover?

Her title is in such a large font on the spine of the book there’s no room for the title of the book. 🙄

smilesy · 10/06/2021 07:35

@Roussette. I thought we had decide he used Cabbage and Lilibet. In fact I provided a link where he referred to her as Lilibet in a letter to the Queen Mother.

smilesy · 10/06/2021 07:37

Posted too soon. I was going to add that it was also how she signed the funeral wreath.

Roussette · 10/06/2021 07:38

I was just making a joke about peachy arse. And Cabbage. A fruit and a vegetable

Roussette · 10/06/2021 07:38

I know all that smilesy

Serenster · 10/06/2021 07:42

@Roussette honestly, you post with such certainty when you aren’t right - fo you not know or not care about being accurate?

Phillip most definitely called his wife Lilibet as well as Cabbage. In his own words, from a letter he wrote to her mother:

“ He wrote: “Lilibet is the only ‘thing’ in the world which is absolutely real to me and my ambition is to wield the two of us into a new combined existence that will not only be able to withstand the shocks directed at us but will also have a positive existence for the good… Cherish Lilibet?

“I wonder if that word is enough to express what is in me.”

RedthroatedCaracara · 10/06/2021 07:44

Rousette - surely you don't want Meghan to emulate Fergie in her post royal life? And Fergie did need to earn a living - hence being spokesperson for Weight Watchers and other low points. Meghan has Harry's millions. If she wants to say fuck you to The Firm, she should revert to being Meghan Markle. I wonder why she won't ...

Roussette · 10/06/2021 07:46

Serenster OK he called her that too. Yes he did. Fine.

I understood that Cabbage was the more playful name he called her. I apologise that you have had to write a long post correcting me.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 10/06/2021 07:49

@DeeKavCoffee

good for him. i was waiting for the nice 'lillibet' story to be twisted into something sinistar megan has apparently done
It is further up thread - lots of posts blame Meghan (as usual) for their choice of name. Ignoring the fact that it is Harry's Grandmother and Mother! Even one PP wrote I blame Meghan - Harry was ok til He met her - or words to that effect 🤣🤣 And I'm finding it funny imagining the tone if it was said out loud in conversation.
Rainbunny · 10/06/2021 07:49

So bloody tired of these two. FWIW I believe the palace source. It's being reported that the palace has refused to deny what the source has said, so they're sticking by it. It makes sense really, the Queen is famously conflict averse so I can imagine them telling her the name and her not wanting to rock their oh-so delicate boat by expressing her displeasure. Like the rest of her family, the Queen must be used to walking on eggshells around these two.

Do H&M actually care about the Queen at all? Do they ever consider how their antics must make her feel? This time it came on the eve of Phillips 100th birthday which will be a significant day for the Queen after his passing.

One thing is clear, they are completely obsessed with media coverage about themselves. Their denial of the BBC report came 90 minutes after the BBC today programme aired. MM is probably reading this thread!

smilesy · 10/06/2021 07:51

@Roussette btw, I think the right person won the transformation challenge 🤣

MrsBobDylan · 10/06/2021 07:51

I am genuinely confused. A couple of months ago Harry spoke about moving away from his family to break a parenting style which was essentially passed down from the Queen to Charles.

He was indirectly critical of the Queen. Using her childhood nickname is so intimate.

I don't know any more. Either Harry has balls of steel or completely lacks insight in how it must feel for his family being critiqued on TV.

On another note, if childhood nicknames become a thing, I'm rather hopeful one of my future gc will bear the name 'Noodles'.

Roussette · 10/06/2021 07:52

surely you don't want Meghan to emulate Fergie in her post royal life? And Fergie did need to earn a living

And M&H don't? They need to earn a living too. That is a very roundabout way to say that Fergie can bring out books. But Meghan can't.
You don't know how much money they have or need. You are applying one rule for Sarah Ferguson and another for Meghan. Unfair.

And Sarah criticised the RF endlessly in an OW interview and in books. Yet she styled herself as HRH Duchess of York in such gems as 'The Duchess of York's True Story' and 'Reinventing yourself with the Duchess of York'.
Or 'My Story' by the Duchess of York, talking all about her time in the RF and how miserable she was.

But Meghan writes one childrens book and all hell breaks out.

Roussette · 10/06/2021 07:53

smilesy It was lovely wasn't it?! But not for anyone built bigger than a twig with all those frills! You ought to join us on our thread for the Final Smile

GlencoraP · 10/06/2021 07:54

But by the same token if you put yourself out there by writing a book why should you be exempt from criticism.

TooManyCuntsSpoilTheBroth · 10/06/2021 07:56

@mathanxiety

The Queen doesn't have the benefit of having Oprah on speed dial which of course is a much more dignified way of sorting out a family rift.

So a case of 'He started it'?

This is school playground stuff you are excusing from the Head of the Church of England.

I don't see that as 'defending the head of the Church of England' so much as acknowledging that they are all as bad as eachother, they're all the same. So you have people trying to paint the RF as spiteful and petty and H as a victim and another set of people painting the opposite picture. They are all a part of the same immensely privileged, out of touch, spoiled family. None are better than the others, they're just two cheeks of the same arse.
smilesy · 10/06/2021 07:57

@Roussette I might do that only I sometimes have to pause the tv to go and settle SEN son, so I am a bit behind the action 🤣. I’ll stop derailing now.
