Kate has written a photography book which is to be released today. First I've heard of it. She has left copies round the country with a handwritten note. What a lovely idea. Its already Number one on the bestsellar list. All money to go to charity. Well done Kate.

I hope its better the Brooklyns...

Mummy194 · 07/05/2021 16:19

Oh what a coincidence.

Mummy194 · 07/05/2021 16:22

And the great 'idea' was from Emma Watson with her book fairy which she did in NY and London.

lurker101 · 07/05/2021 16:24

@Mummy194 yes, bookfairies UK were credited in the initial Instagram post from Duchess of Cambridge. I hadn’t heard of it before, but a great idea!

DogsSausages · 07/05/2021 16:24

Is it about photography or photos of her family, hasn't MM also just released a book.

MoChridhe · 07/05/2021 16:25

I wonder when the video will be uploaded to YouTube

BillieSpain · 07/05/2021 16:25

It's lovely!

Samcro · 07/05/2021 16:25

@DogsSausages yes and been ripped apart for it.
I didn't know Kate was an expert in photography.

BillieSpain · 07/05/2021 16:27

@Mummy194

Oh what a coincidence.
I know, right?
AgnesNaismith · 07/05/2021 16:27

Kate has been well known for her photography over some years now. I love the book fairy idea - great way to create a buzz!

It’s photos from the public during lockdown.
FelicityPike · 07/05/2021 16:27

Is it not?

She has a proper talent, for years she has been following this hobby. I think it is great.

dancealittleclosertome · 07/05/2021 16:29

Oh God, they're all at it!

mateysmum · 07/05/2021 16:31

This is very different from MM's book. It is the result of a long standing project with the National Portrait Gallery to capture scenes from the UK during the pandemic. All profits go to charities.
I believe the photos have been contributed by members of the public.

BillieSpain · 07/05/2021 16:32

Precisely.
Unfortunate, although not unremarkable, that she was pipped to the post.

GlencoraP · 07/05/2021 16:35

Surely you are being sarcastic , this has been everywhere since this time last year. It was part of a competition in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery, of which she is patron. 31000 members of the public entered photographs and 100 have been chosen to be in the book and some were on billboards last Autumn in bus shelters and in the tube etc and were exhibited at the Gallery

Proceeds go to the National Portrait Gallery and Mind .

Whatever you think of the RF a little of people including me will buy this as it documents the experience of the pandemic.

waltzingparrot · 07/05/2021 16:36

The book is the result of the Hold Still campaign which has been in the news for the last year. A photographic record of lockdown - long planned.

BillieSpain · 07/05/2021 16:37

I was 100% being sarcastic.

GlencoraP · 07/05/2021 16:39

She is actually a very competent photographer , she has studied it for some time from her teens she is an active patron of the National portrait Gallery and has a degree in Art History. This project has been widely lauded.

Mummy194 · 07/05/2021 16:45

This project has been widely lauded.

Ofcourse it was.

I've just looked through - some of these had me in tears.

BillieSpain · 07/05/2021 16:59

It's really moving. Well done HRH Duchess of Cambridge.

GlencoraP · 07/05/2021 17:04

Just looked at the cover , it does not say anything about the Duchess of Cambridge , inside it lists her as spearheading the project but also credits the other judges who include Lemm Sisay and Maryam Wahid and Ruth May the chief nursing officer . The Duchess of Cambridge has written the introduction.

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 07/05/2021 17:05

I've been waiting for this book to be published and have ordered a copy of this book from my local book shop as a present to myself. It will be a reminder in a few years of the hardship people have endured over the last year and a half due to the pandemic and the proceeds go to charity. I'm so glad Kate has been able to help publicise this book and get it the press attention it deserves.
