Kate has written a photography book which is to be released today. First I've heard of it. She has left copies round the country with a handwritten note. What a lovely idea. Its already Number one on the bestsellar list. All money to go to charity. Well done Kate.

Good Golly! Gosh!

@Roussette

This project has been widely lauded

I'm sure it has.

Good on them for highlighting Covid pics, but let's not pretend Katharine has taken all the pics. Well done for adding her name to this.

However, One of my DDs is actually a fab photographer, there is nothing she could do to get her pics published, she does try!

That her book is out first and MM nips in to plug her book the same week

That is a complete load of tosh. Is it OK if Meghan breathes air in the same week as W&K?

The person who took the photos is named under each photo? No one is pretending.

The book has been planned for ages. I first heard of it as I follow the story of Tony 'Bear' who is a double amputee after he was badly abused by his biological parents in the first 4 weeks of his life.

He is now doing another walk to raise more money - an amazing little boy with wonderful adoptive parents.

Did you miss all the publicity about this project last year?

It was on broadcast news and in all the papers and many magazines eg

I agree the thread title is wrong. But the Duchess who is royal patron of the NPG, has been involved in the project throughout

myrtleWilson · 07/05/2021 20:27

Tony's early days are horrific - I was so upset reading about that a few months ago.

FAQs · 07/05/2021 20:31

Oh lord I just read up on what happened, and the light sentences his ‘parents’ received, awful, what an amazing strong little boy.

scrivette · 07/05/2021 20:35

His adoptive family and parents are amazing, they have so much love to give.
I was lucky enough to know a relative of theirs and even before Tony came to live with them I knew how lovely and caring they were.

He had the worst start in life with the worst parents ever, but now has the most wonderful family.

@Samcro

I hope its better the Brooklyns...

Who could forget his moving yet subtle depiction of an elephant in silhouette. Stunning stuff.

Back on topic: Kate has been beaten to it by thirty plus years and by Fergie of all unlikely contenders.

There is nothing new under the royal sun.

@Roussette

However, One of my DDs is actually a fab photographer, there is nothing she could do to get her pics published, she does try!

Did she submit a photo, this was an open competition , 31,000 photos were submitted by the general public and selected by a panel of judges.

Nowhere does anyone claim that Catherine took any of the photos the point was to collate a public record .

They sound extraordinary and just the right people to heal him and I bet they don’t even appreciate how fantastic they are because people like them are too humble. ❤️

Brilliant photos

IWantAllTheDogsInTheWorld · 07/05/2021 20:59

@Roussette my son self publishes his own photography books, of a niche subject, which he promotes to his followers on Instagram and similar. Maybe your daughter might consider the same?

Roussette · 07/05/2021 21:02

No one is pretending

I am going by the title.

Duchess of Cambridge has written a book.

No she hasn't.

Thanks for the tips on my DD and what she could do.

What sort of photography does your DD do @Roussette?

Roussette · 07/05/2021 21:29

Mostly nature myrtle, I just think she has a knack for it, but I'm Mum so what do I know!

She paints too, so she is artistic which is totally not me, and I'm probably biaised Grin

smithyca · 07/05/2021 21:30

I'm quite shocked people have missed her promoting the #holdstill on Instagram last year. I also don't understand why people think Kate took the photos, they are all taken by the public and I'm proud to say my friend is featured in one (NHS). The release date had been planned way in advance, I've had one pre-ordered for months. It's a fantastic idea and a great piece of history for future generations to look back on.

Roussette · 07/05/2021 21:32

Well done your friend.

Looking through the images

Really moving

MarshaBradyo · 07/05/2021 21:33

Made me teary

We’ve been through a lot

CauliflowerCheese30 · 07/05/2021 21:35

Just read up on the little boy Tony, bless his little heart, he's been through so much.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/05/2021 21:42

Does anyone know the location of where KM hid the book?

Not going to try and find it I'm just curious 😂

Nanasueathome · 07/05/2021 21:54

I’ve seen somewhere where Kensington Gardens was mentioned re Kate leaving her copy
Some of the books have been found apparently, people are reporting where they found them
It’s Daily Mail.......

lurker101 · 07/05/2021 22:00

@FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop
I think it’s the edge of Kensington Palace - that looks like The Royal Garden Hotel in the background, which is on Kensington High Street

clpsmum · 07/05/2021 22:10

Thank you for writing this post op I didn't know about the book and have just ordered two x
