Kate has written a photography book which is to be released today. First I've heard of it. She has left copies round the country with a handwritten note. What a lovely idea. Its already Number one on the bestsellar list. All money to go to charity. Well done Kate.

Lots of people in the public eye write books. About themselves. About their lives. About their experiences.

It is fair enough.

But I can’t see the comparison about that and DOC championing a book about others.

So many are well placed and have a public mouth and yet waste the opportunity yapping on about themselves. It was nice to see someone wanting to celebrate others.

This year has been all sorts from heaven to hell and everything in between for some.

It was an honour to share it.

But for me personally, if folk are wanting to compare, I would rather read that than read about mm’s family.

Others will feel differently and that’s grand.

I do feel, and I am happy to be proved wrong, that we on here are not the ones competing.

To be honest I would agree with this sentiment and I do think it applies to meghan's book. I think it would be fair to say the only reason she's had a book published is because of who she is, not because of it's content. Just like many other people have done before her.

I suspect the book Kate has championed would have been published even without her involvement in the project. However, hopefully by having the royal connection it will sell more copies and raise more money.

It is great to see the book is doing so well in the charts. And thst all the money is going to charity. It is a very worthwhile book.

I agree completely. It must be heartbreaking to know how many talented authors are being overlooked in favour of marketing a name rather than a good story.

Aye. Fitness videos a gogo after a dramatic weight loss that some poor soul can’t maintain without great misery usually.

I should be sympathetic given I’m on a few heavy threads on here. But having starved myself once to lose 3 stone for a job and buggering up myself for all eternity, I just despair.

Celebrity generally comes with a heavy price to pay. I’m so glad I never had that hankering.

I could cry when my niece’s friends say that’s what they wish for themselves. Famous/singer/actress/influencer. Whatever. I don’t wish it for anyone. Tis nowt but a poisoned chalice nowadays.

Folks still sleeping (I’ve checked to make sure they’re breathing - only half joking as they were both awful earlier) and all is good. After a year and more of being so careful, their first little separate forays into a changed world and bazinga... I have not taken anything home to them in all that time so I’m hoping it wasn’t me.

Had a coffee and am human again. Almost. Still a B’stard though. Nothing is changing that today
