The royal family

Those little things you've always wondered about the Royal family

Do the royals watch programmes about themselves.
If a senior royal suspects she's pregnant, who does she ask to get a pregnancy test? (Not sure why I wonder this)
Do they have a GP or a royal doctor. How to they go about seeing them.
Do they have security at the school where Prince George and Princess Charlotte go?
How do they employ staff and ensure they don't divulge information outside of their job.

Most importantly does someone really keep the toilet seat warm for the queen?? Grin

@PurpleWh1teGreen

Who sorts out the world book day costumes and PTA bake sale goodies?

Do the kids ever have to eat their toast in the car on the way to school because of some tantrum or other that has meant everyone running late?

Excellent questions

@RandomMess

I wonder what it was like when HM was going through "the change" did she get the rage and cba with everyone or did she get the best HRT available?

More good & essential questions!

Would have been very useful that the palaces are so big and there are so many of them to get away from each other at times of stress. I believe HMQ and Phillip, and Charles and Camilla did/do often live in different houses. How handy. I believe it was quite a dreadful pain that Liz and Phil had to live together in the pandemic because of the staff required having to bubble.

Don't you think a 'Lady in Waiting' is a dated 'occupation'? L-in-W was mentioned in an earlier post.
I guess its really a kind of designated unpaid companion/friend. (I don't think they get paid) and I mean in the old days, in books, a person would sometimes have a 'companion'.
What would be an alternative description?

I mean, some might say Queen is quite a dated occupation.

@21Flora

I’ve worked for some ultra high net worth landed gentry, all household names. Those non disclosure agreements are pretty water tight. A group of ex staff went to the paper about their treatment about one - a judge ruled that papers couldn’t discuss the trials because the employers ‘honour and reputation’ were more important than it being public knowledge. Money wins in these situations every time.

In that case, I wonder why William and Kate promoted, rather than sacked, the guy who leaked all the stories and letters to the papers (including Harry and Meghan's plans to leave, which meant they were forced to announce early).

I'm flummoxed. Hmm

I often wonder if William and Kate get home from a really tedious engagement and bitch about the people or the job. They're both so uncynically enthusiastic about everything, but they must think some people are twats and laugh about them in private. Do they really believe in all the dutiful things they do?

My DP are I are so cynical, I can't imagine us getting through an event without catching each others' eye and cracking up. It's all so stupid, the pomp and ceremony just because they were born rich... do they realise, or do they take it all very seriously?

I don't know if their mobiles are on a private network or not, but I do know their numbers are all in sequence. So if you know one, you've got a pretty good chance of guessing the next.

A 'married in' WhatsApp group would be amazing!

I vaguely know someone who is close friends with Zara.

As far as I can gather she's pretty normal TBH.

Did they all gather round and watch the Oprah interview together? I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall watching their reactions.

And more importantly - did they piss themselves laughing when Meghan Markle compared herself to the Little Mermaid?

I imagine a royal WhatsApp chat & them drinking gin watching it

I want to know what the queen's favourite food is. Apparently she never tells anyone because if she did everyone would serve it to her at every occasion and it would spoil it for her. I can see her point but it's got me curious as to what it could be.

How they feel about the public favouring a republic and retiring them. Attitudes towards monarchy have changed a lot in 50 years.

How formal are they with one another when alone at home.

I wonder about embarrassing stuff like sex toys or thrush cream. Obviously they can't go to a shop, I guess they would still have to tell an aide/assistant. Or maybe they just order on Amazon.

I saw William driving with another man. He was driving a Landrover I think? Anyway one of those 4x4 black cars that look like land Rovers with tinted windows. I never know makes. Could only see him clearly because it was a narrow road and he had to stop to let me through. It was close to Balmoral and was basically a cut through rural track over the moors.

I can imagine the cousins B,E,Z and M gasping with amusement when they saw the interview. I imagine they zoomed H and laughed we can't believe you had the balls to reveal all that kind of way.

And yep, I can see Z lightheartedly taking the piss at H regarding the mermaid comment.

I doubt they would fire him if he was doing their bidding.

I don't believe anyone dating someone in the royal family doesn't know who they are dating and hasn't had a sneaky google/checked social media information/put 2+2 together due to houses etc, so I don't buy that wide eyed didn't know who you were stuff!

I can believe it with Peter, minor Royal, fairly common name and they met in Canada. (I don't know any other Zara's, Beatrice's or Eugenie's)
I don't believe it for a second with any of the others.

My guess it's something really simple like Toast n Beans, or square sausage that nobody would ever serve her 😋.

I think they find it really hard to believe that the "lower classes" are actual people or how some people live.

There was the quote by prince Philip, at a time when there were complaints about how much the RF cost: "Do they expect us to live in council houses?".

Well, you know... people do live in them and survive.

I'm dead common me, but my best friend at university was closely related to a European RF via her mother and had an extremely rich father who was something very important in industry.

They were lovely people and really kind.

But I do remember a Top Tip that her mother passed on: "It's very important to have some help in the house. I would always employ a maid even if I had to give up going out once - or even twice! - a week"

While we stayed with them, one of their "going out" nights involved a dinner with the queen and jewels being sent for from the bank.

They had no idea how the other half lives. My friend has a better idea but still thinks you can sort out financial problems by not going abroad for a year and selling some shares.

The Queens Ladies in Waiting are unpaid friends, aristocratic type wife's.

Somehow I think it's something that will die out with her. I can't imagine any of the other Royal women will have Ladies in Waiting.

One thing to remember on personal care most of them went to boarding school and had time in military so they know how to look after themselves.

Queen & Phil, didn't have staff when they lived in Malta, which is one of the reasons William & Kate went to live in Anglesea giving them time to be a 'normal' couple.

OK they say no staff but they might have had a cleaner I can't imagine the Queen with a loo brush in hand Grin

I was once on a training course for work, when chatting with one of the other attendees, he remarked that their family always changed clothes for dinner.
OK, I thought. I assumed coming home from work, changing out of suit into jeans, etc.
Then he explained that they lived on a farm, so it was normal to change out of their working clothes, etc.
The 'farm' later turned out to be a very large estate with grand house, and I doubt they did their own farming. However, it taught me that there are many families around who just have very different lives to what I was used to.
I mention this because I have heard that visitors are often amazed by the constant changing of clothes. But then I thought it is not so bad; joggers or going to the gym, we have a specific dress, which we may well change (and shower, etc) afterwards.
So sometimes, things we think of as anachronisms, may not be so very different afterall.
Curtseying to the Queen in private (for family members) may be such an anachronism, but for an elderly lady, unlikely to change until the next monarch.

I can’t understand why not one of them is obese
If I had access to food that I didn’t have to bother cooking there would be no stopping me!

Because they're not exactly chowing down on dominoes and nuggets every night.

Plus they'll be taught to eat politely. Plus they go to gyms, swim, etc

I actually think eating healthy would be easier.

I’d have much healthier snacks if someone was preparing them and I wasn’t just reaching for crisps for easiness
