The royal family

To be shocked at some RF members turning their back?

1000 replies

fiheka · 06/05/2021 16:35

It has been reported that some Royal Family members literally turned their back on Prince Harry at Prince Philip's funeral and refused to even acknowledge him.
I have had extended family members behave badly and are in no hurry to be friendly. But I think this is appalling behaviour. I would never do that and especially not at a funeral.
It reminds me of that video being shared where William and Kate totally snub and ignore Harry and Meghan.
It is just so rude and awful.

@ajandjjmum

The idea of Meghan and Harry healing Brexit is laughable!
Oh not you again : Lovely to see women supporting other women
nicenicenice · 07/05/2021 17:50

What a weird thread. They deserved a good slap! Ignoring was the best they could have expected! What a pair of childish naive narcissists.

smilesy · 07/05/2021 17:50

@Mummy194 do you have any links about them being told to have a big wedding please? All I can find is a report in the Telegraph which says that they insisted the same amount was spent on their wedding as on William and Kate’s.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/05/2021 17:50

@Mummy194

You understand very well.

You seem happy for the poster to trash MM, but have a problem when the problem is turned around and KM is the one on the firing line.

Not for the first time, I notice.

I didn't actually realise that I had to remain neutral on topics Hmm

I did understand, you didn't word it well.

I think a lot of people do senselessly nit pick at Meghan Markle, which as you'll have seen from my posts I always call out. But there are definitely some fair and constructive criticisms which don't "trash" her - OTOH your criticisms of KM seem to be sarcastic and snippy remarks comparing her to MM, wholly omitting any sort of constructive criticism

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/05/2021 17:52

Daft question - what's the significance of the H&M wedding being in the same day as the FA cup final? Am I missing something? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/05/2021 17:53

[quote Mummy194]Apologies for the Express link. But this was widely reported at the time. People seem to pick and choose info about H&M.

Well if the Daily Express said it it must be true

Mummy194 · 07/05/2021 17:53

@FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop

As I have stated already, I turn it around so people can see what it's like when it's done too MM, and from the reactions, it seems they are unhappy about that. If so, then lay off MM too, because that is exactly how it appears when you do it too MM.

Mummy194 · 07/05/2021 17:56

As I have said on the post, that is what comes out first, and it was reported all over back then. Sorry, just not gonna trawl the internet for other sources, people find bad intel on MM easily, they can also easily find this info if they want it. By and large they believe tabloids anyway.

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 07/05/2021 17:57

Can I just pop in and say to those saying the RF being nothing...when I worked in the NHS, on two different occasions I met both Princess Anne and Prince Charles. They met staff and patients and very very lovely. Morale amongst staff and patients was boosted massively, our very important new service got amazing local and National coverage, and it boosted the economy as people from neighbouring counties came to queue and see them (they were doing a few things that day). Meaning food trucks, local shops, local B&Bs etc got a lovely business boost! Wether you like them or not, that kind of good is brought every day up and down the country (in normal times anyway) and the publicity and interest they bring to services is something money couldn't buy.

smilesy · 07/05/2021 17:58

Ah. Sorry. Didn’t see a link was already there 🤣. It would seem that it was only the carriage but they didn’t want to do though. Not the whole wedding. Or am I misunderstanding?

Marmaladeagain · 07/05/2021 17:59

the Express article - I don't think anyone would normally credit that one on here - sorry, I think the Sun is taken more seriously than that one...

M saying she wanted private wedding and inviting Oprah etc and demanding macrobiotic food at Windsor castle...M leaking a story to the Express that she really wanted a tiny wedding.

I think I'll go with Harry: the permanently thin skinned aggrieved brother who wanted as much money spent on him as William. Their faces at the Commonwealth Ceremony 2020 give the inside story on it all, rather than the Express. Harry had a permanently furious face and thinks he should be listened to.. what Meghan wants, Meghan gets. What he means what he wants, he gets.

ajandjjmum · 07/05/2021 18:01

Oh not you again @Mummy194

Sorry - I didn't realise it was a private party!

But you don't turn it around, you make weird and arbitrary bitchy remarks and without context that confuses people.

I don't mind constructive criticism of anyone, least of all the RF - but I rarely see any of KM simply because she puts her head down, gets on with the job and doesn't ruffle feathers. MM is very much the opposite - you can't deny this, going to Oprah to slag her in laws off - and with that will come backlash. You can't ruffle feathers, criticise the British public (who paid for her lifestyle and security for 18 months) as if we are one homogeneous hive mind, and in turn complain when people aren't happy about it

I did a quick google, (I have time on my hands). Most results were about the OW show and the garden vows. Found nothing about Meghan wanting a private wedding.

I did find an article, Vanity Fair, that said they got exactly the wedding they wanted.

Ahh there it is. Now you come out with what you are really about.

There has been no such thing as constructive criticism on MM on here. Never. She does not 'ruffle' any feathers except those with certain type of mind who seem to have it in for her. She never criticised the British public at all - only the media and 'the firm' (not even the family per se, except the one racist, which is mostly due to the culture that is sounding then).

I do wish you would stop pretending that you are an objective person though and just come out as an MM hater like everyone else. Makes everything easier.

Marmaladeagain · 07/05/2021 18:15

FA cup final - William would usually be at the cup final funny enough, so even that was a bad day.

For lots of people the FA cup final is quite a special event - big and small team might come together to play, bit more romance - notoriously a bad day to have a wedding Grin - a number of the congregation may prefer to be somewhere else than at a wedding... Chelsea and Man U were playing...

Cup final isn't the sort of thing that would be happening when William was married, bank holiday etc. Harry's was just a normal weekend day. Just trying to give an idea that the country hadn't stopped for Harry's wedding in same way having a bank holiday for William's, which was why street parties etc and more of an event.

You're so right, trashing her in laws to the entire world is a totally calm thing to do that hasn't bothered anyone Confused no constructive criticism? Are you deluded? What about her fibbing about being married 3 days before their wedding? The implication for the Archbishop of Canterbury? You can't see people saying that was disingenuous as constructive criticism? What would you call it?

I do wish you would stop pretending that you are an objective person though and just come out as an MM hater like everyone else. Makes everything easier.

😂😂 I can't engage with someone this obtuse and blind. Why can't you just accept that people dislike MM for good reasons? It seems you expect people to be nothing less than an adoring fan. It's REALLY tedious and a total waste of thread space

I see! Does anyone know which was arranged first? The final or the wedding?
smilesy · 07/05/2021 18:36

The FA cup final is traditional the last match of the season, so it’s date will have been known well in advance. The only exception was last year because of Covid.
Didn’t Eugenie have to move her wedding because of H&M?

Crocidura · 07/05/2021 18:41

I'm sure the FA Cup would have been arranged long before the wedding, they were only engaged for 6 months, well after the start of the football season.

MargaretFraggle · 07/05/2021 18:44

I find it so tiresome that people who have an opinion on things MM has quite openly said and done are called 'haters'. Why the dramatic label? I am more of a 'disapprover' myself. Not of everything she does, either. This thread is about why the RF may have blanked Harry at the funeral, and I only joined to say how I could personally see why they might not have fancied a friendly catch up. (Even though this 'blanking' is only reported and we don't know that they did).

Yes absolutely. Saint Meghan could eat babies alive and there would still be a reason why it was excusable for some.
Marmaladeagain · 07/05/2021 18:49

yes, I remember thinking it was odd - William would be presenting the Cup at the Cup Final as President of the FA since 2006 - and then the date of the wedding was announced, clashing so he didn't go.

Would be disappointing for lots of people as there are lots of other days to get married, but only one FA cup final - Man U and Chelsea would be a draw and says about 8.2 households watched it on BBC that day

Their wedding seemed bit rushed anyhow, I thought maybe she's pregnant - everything was rushed with them. They'd only known one another 5 mins in a relationship over thousands of miles and no friends in common to speak of.... you invite Oprah and I'll invite James Blunt etc..oh, and William's President of the FA - let's do it cup final day...

OP, everything you're quoting about ALL the Royals is based on hearsay and media gossip. You do know that it might all be bollocks, right?
