Has anyone else seen this on Instagram? It's so lovely and natural. Their PR camp are hitting the right buttons! The Oprah interview now just seems so trashy in comparison!

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 30/04/2021 09:28

Only caught a glimpse of it on the news. It did look a bit staged.
I agree that if Meghan and Harry had done something similar , then they would have been pulled to bits. I bet they only did this because of all the fall out from the interview with Oprah.
I saw a woman's mag front page saying that K and W are going to ' tell all ' which surprised me. I haven't bought the mag as I can imagine it's all just speculation about that ! I doubt they would be allowed too anyway.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/04/2021 09:39

This video is not about celebrating their anniversary, it is about approval ratings

Exactly; after a year of them understandably not being seen much the RF need a PR boost, and here it is right on cue

As I've said before, W&K's image is curated to the nth degree because it has to be ... with the hash so many of them have made of things, they're about the best hope left and they'll make the very most of it

Samcro · 30/04/2021 09:41

it would have been nice to see them actually working. we really don't need to be reminded of how little they do.

MummyJ12 · 30/04/2021 09:43

I am a big fan of K and W and don’t believe that they aren’t genuinely happy. They are a gorgeous family and I’m proud to have them as part of our RF.
I wasn’t sure about the music to the video but other than that I liked it.
I don’t think M and H would’ve put something out like this, they seem a bit cooler and edgier to have released something like it. There probably wouldn’t have been a video, just a couple of beautiful atmospheric black and white shots to mark such an occasion.
It’s unfortunate that we so heavily scrutinise people. I think we need to be kinder.

Frezia · 30/04/2021 09:47

@cyclingmad

They are touted to us like they are just like us except they aren't. Normal people is sharing a video, share one taken using their mobile phone most often or not and when they are really just being themselves.

Who actually pays someone to produce a video of themselves, entirely staged and incredibly fake and then passes it off as though hey look at us just being ourselves and normal.

Bleurgh

Its as bad as the media constantly telling us how she has recycled her shoes or clothes. Hmm

Tbh I've seen quite a few similarly awkward, professionally done engagement/wedding shoots by random people on social media, so I guess in that way they are "like us".
Viviennemary · 30/04/2021 09:47

It is PR. And its working.

mermaidsariel · 30/04/2021 09:49

William is the future King. It’s an exercise to keep the heir in focus. Harry is not the future King and isn’t working for the RF any longer. M and H are desperately doing their own PR and I think this is a counterbalance .

motherloaded · 30/04/2021 09:52

I wouldn't care if people fawn about Kate and Will, or about Tamara Ecclestone and "aspire" to be any of them. My issue is that they are sold to us as "representing the country" and playing an official role, justifying them using public funds.

They don't matter, they don't make any difference, they have no role, we should get rid of this outdated nonsense.

Once they are private citizens (even if they will cling on some of their privilege as hard as they can) they can release any cringey video or start their own reality show if they want. It's a free country - or at least it should be.

I might even start watching "keeping up with the Middletons" Grin

fluffysocks89 · 30/04/2021 09:56

It would be unfortunate if we didn’t scrutinise them. The RF are funded by the taxpayer, they already have huge privacy laws in place, particularly their finances. It is perfectly right that they are scrutinised. Years ago we would probably never heard about Andrews antics. It’s the price they have to pay for all their wealth and privilege. We have the right to know.

I couldn't have put it better myself

CokeDrinker · 30/04/2021 10:01

@mermaidsariel M and H aren’t working members of the RF and they don’t live here anymore. Therefore it would be inappropriate and strange, especially as they left specifically to get away from the Press. That’s why people get irritated with their publicity seeking. There were two photos of them on the beach at different times released separately recently. Why, I don’t know. They aren’t relevant in the UK now.

They are no longer working members of the Royal Family but Harry is STILL a member of the family! He hasn't gone NC, changed his name to Joe Bloggs, etc and they've done less publicity seeking than William and Kate. Not sure why where they live, in this global internet world, has anything to do with it. Like as if you're saying one is only popular in the country you reside in.

mermaidsariel · 30/04/2021 10:05

Does that mean all members of the RF should make videos about themselves, publish photos, give Zoom talks to the public and go on national TV to talk about their woes then?

motherloaded · 30/04/2021 10:08

like Diana did?

they never stopped doing whatever they wanted, from Kate posing for the paps in white bikinis.

Why is it ok for some but not the others?

Wabe · 30/04/2021 10:09

@sashh

Looks like an advert for something. Centre parks?

It is, it's an advert for them.

Yes, it's pretty much the 2021 Instagram version of Marie Antoinette playing shepherdess in the Petit Trianon, but with the intention of staving off the Revolution.
CokeDrinker · 30/04/2021 10:09

@mermaidsariel

In every photo of them you see there is a connection between them. It’s not faked. They look really in tune with each other and very loving. The affair rumours are just rumours.
As a PP said, Kate looks different with her children and with William it looks more forced, there is no chemistry there. Whether the rumours are true or not, I don't know, but there is no smoke without fire as they say. Charles had mistresses, so did Philip. And maybe it's just me, but it really jarred me when William didn't wear a wedding ring, like Charles and Philip. It just.....I don't know, I guess I disliked him from that moment, I mean even if you're not going to wear it every day, to not accept a ring when 'exchanging of the rings' is a key part of a wedding ceremony, I would be heartbroken if I were Kate. I thought badly of him after that. Whether he did or didn't, I just don't think William and Kate are into each other that much. Just a hunch. It's the RF, so William is very much like Charles and Philip. No smoke and all that. But people want to believe William is the golden prince.
Porchie · 30/04/2021 10:10

I don’t think it was a “response” to the Oprah interview. Apparently their spaniel is briefly in it and he died last year. It was filmed months ago. It’s just a video for their 10th anniversary. Marginally more interesting than a couple of photos of you’re a royal fan. If you’re not a royal fan you probably wouldn’t follow them on SM and wouldn’t have to watch it.

CokeDrinker · 30/04/2021 10:17

Desperately? Nothing is more desperate than this video. The picture a PP posted of Charles, Diana and the boys looked far more normal than this, and far more believable. Perhaps M and H's little PR they do is counterbalance to the staged antics of William and Kate, Charles and the rest of the RF.
CokeDrinker · 30/04/2021 10:18

@motherloaded Oh yeah, the white bikini. Trashy and desperate personified.

Wabe · 30/04/2021 10:21

That is fairly bizarre. It's jewellery.
.

doomonic · 30/04/2021 10:28

No idea.
This is not a criticism of Kate because she didn't do anything wrong but can you imagine if M was photographed topless or with her skirt blowing up or enjoying a night out? The press freaked out about her acting in underwear before Harry & a sheer skirt showing her pants on a royal engagement.

Talia99 · 30/04/2021 10:33

I thought it was ludicrously Hollywood - they criticise H & M for being OTT then hire a professional video crew to do what looks like a luxury car ad.

If H & M weren’t appropriate (and I agree, sometimes they were too much) maybe don’t try and act like them? Not only that, they were better at this sort of thing (which again isn’t necessarily an asset in Royals) so W & K are giving the impression of being poor copies of M & H which
I assume isn’t what they were going for.

SaturdayRocks · 30/04/2021 10:35

I believe wedding rings are considered very déclassé for men in UC circles. Wills not wearing one is not necessarily reflective of his feelings for Kate.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 30/04/2021 10:36

oh I love the Jerusalama challenge @Wabe

motherloaded · 30/04/2021 10:37

Meghan gets abused for daring wearing skinny jeans, whilst Kate is praised for the same outfit Confused

Both young women look great, people are just insane.

My favourite was about people being shocked/fuming/horrified because Meghan was showing her shoulders. How bloody dare she?

Despite trying to distract the public with the "Megxit" scandal, the Andrew case is still very much live...

and the royals really have shown it's time to say goodbye. It might have been different if Princess Ann was born first, but the others are a shamble.
