Has anyone else seen this on Instagram? It's so lovely and natural. Their PR camp are hitting the right buttons! The Oprah interview now just seems so trashy in comparison!

@AbsolutelyPatsy

George looks a sensitive lad
Meaning?
MissLathbury · 30/04/2021 08:02

There was never any proof to the William affair rumours...... and Rose Hanbury still seems to be part of their social circle. Most blind gosips are to be taken liberally with a large pinch of salt.

Agree. I thought the affair rumours were now thought to be just that, rumours.

As for the video, yes it was on the cheesy side, but I like seeing children running about enjoying themselves.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 30/04/2021 08:09

@RickiTarr

he looks sensitive, why does it need a meaning?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 30/04/2021 08:10

kate is looking adoringly for the camera of course. this video is going worldwide.

I find George quite wistful! The other two seem more self assured especially Charlotte.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 30/04/2021 08:18

George looks shy

Anne1958 · 30/04/2021 08:21

Kate really doesn't look like she likes him at all nowadays. She won’t divorce him though. She wants to be Queen. And she wants their family to look happy and respectable in order to secure the future of the monarchy for her kids. Which is what I’d do too in her shoes. Lots of women put up with men to ensure a better life for their kids*

I think you’re hallucinating.

Anne1958 · 30/04/2021 08:23

Again - happy to be presented with the evidence

There isn’t any because it didn’t happen 😊

Nesbo · 30/04/2021 08:31

Dear god, I thought it was a promo video for a glamping site (“Leave the city behind and let the kids run free, join us here at Stoneybridge Organic Yurt Hideaway”).

Stand outside a school in Holland Park on a school day morning and you can’t move for identikit couples like this. Immaculately turned out women with long wavy hair, balding men with shirts and jumpers, beautiful little kids in shorts and boaters, queues of Range Rovers and Aston Martins.

William and Kate just look so much “of a type” that I can’t for the life of me understand the fascination. Take away the privilege and there is nothing of any interest left behind.

Why do people fawn over them in a way that they presumably don’t fawn over actual people they know in real life.

They just seem so...anodyne.

mermaidsariel · 30/04/2021 08:32

In every photo of them you see there is a connection between them. It’s not faked. They look really in tune with each other and very loving. The affair rumours are just rumours.

slashlover · 30/04/2021 08:36

M and H aren’t working members of the RF and they don’t live here anymore. Therefore it would be inappropriate and strange, especially as they left specifically to get away from the Press. That’s why people get irritated with their publicity seeking. There were two photos of them on the beach at different times released separately recently. Why, I don’t know. They aren’t relevant in the UK now.

People keep saying they aren't relevant in the UK but the press wouldn't keep printing things if they didn't sell, it's called hate watching. I've not seen any pictures of them on the beach, were they "released" or were they pap shots or put on their own social media? Why would it be inappropriate for them to put up a video celebrating their anniversary? Is it inappropriate for anyone not royal?

Frezia · 30/04/2021 08:38

Yeah it's all a bit cringe. The kids are cute but the video looks like a life insurance ad. In the photos released William's face looks like he smelled a fart and Kate's is glazed like Barbie's. It seems like it was an attempt at a Hollywood-ish production but it's all gone a bit awkward.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 30/04/2021 08:45

I bet if it was H&M doing the exact same thing, she'd be accused of "manipulation" "gameplaying" or other such things. The video is vomit inducing and as real as glitter farting unicorns.

HagenDaz · 30/04/2021 08:49

Who is the guy moving out of shot in the last scene?

doomonic · 30/04/2021 08:52

The thing I find cringe about is why does Kate have to gaze adoringly at Will? why not the other way round? It's 2021 people, do women still have to play the dutiful smiling spouse to please the public?

@Anonmousse

It looked a bit cheesy for me but the day at the beach looked typical dull windy (and probably a bit chilly) seaside weather which made it slightly more natural!Grin
I suspect that was deliberate. I know that a friend in the police whose unit did that Jerusalema dance challenge on their local (very beautiful) beach said they were actually instructed by the higher-ups to choose a dull day/hour to film, because the intention was (a) to raise spirits during Covid by responding to the Jerusalema thing but (b) not to make it look as if the police were having a ball larking about on a sunny beach when other people were cooped up indoors.

Their bit was filmed early in the morning before the sun hit the beach and they look freezing but determinedly cheery.

I don't think any element of the Cambridges' video was incidental. If they filmed the beach part in dull, chilly conditions, it will have been because their PR wanted to not make it look too idyllic, so viewers weren't going 'Fine for the idle rich!', to make them seem relatable because most viewers will also have had cold, dank beach days, and probably to steer a kind of middle ground between the traditional 'hardy outdoor Gordonstoun/Balmoral deerstalking in battered Barbour' royal schtik and the more 'modern' Centerparcs/Boden middle-class demographic.

It's hilariously calculated, but judging by this thread, it works for some people.

I thought that photo was terrible too. The tension radiating from it was intense! But we were told it was a beautiful photo so it must be.

People have mentioned that those of us who see it for the PR campaign that it is are ‘bitter ‘ and ‘enraged’
I have seen no rage, I’m not enraged by the video .

I am bitter and enraged that the royals still take huge amounts of money from the public purse and before someone starts it’s not 2 p a week or whatever, the true financial arrangements are shrouded in mystery . Didn’t the guardian report that the queen attempted to keep her financial arrangements secret from the public?
While there is still a child going hungry and cold in this country I will remain angry about the royal machine .

I find the fawning odd. People posting that they’re happy, almost grateful, to have this snapshot into their lives. Albeit with good production quality and shot as an advert. Bread and circuses springs to mind.
doomonic · 30/04/2021 09:15

@Wabe is right. If this was filmed in glorious sunshine with them wearing head to toe designer gear with the nanny in shot & security in the background there would be accusations of "out of touch", "insensitive" etc so instead they pretend to be more like us & the public also pretend that's true. It's so weird 😆

indiakulfi · 30/04/2021 09:19

They don't look 'privileged' in that video, they are just a family enjoying a day out. If we didn't know who they were, they could be anyone. Dressed ordinarily, doing ordinary things outdoors.

It's ordinary things for the privileged but for the poor in inner cities it's a privileged life. I'm lucky to be privileged and most people here probably are but there are too many children in this country who couldn't even dream of fun like that.

Port1aCastis · 30/04/2021 09:20

It looks like an ad for Nationwide I was expecting them to burst into song any second. Which song I don't know but probably something from the sound of music

cyclingmad · 30/04/2021 09:21

They are touted to us like they are just like us except they aren't. Normal people is sharing a video, share one taken using their mobile phone most often or not and when they are really just being themselves.

Who actually pays someone to produce a video of themselves, entirely staged and incredibly fake and then passes it off as though hey look at us just being ourselves and normal.

Bleurgh

Its as bad as the media constantly telling us how she has recycled her shoes or clothes. Hmm

sashh · 30/04/2021 09:25

Looks like an advert for something. Centre parks?

It is, it's an advert for them.
