The royal family

Harry has a lot to answer for.

I think Harry has a lot to answer for in this whole debacle. He's a 35 year old man brought up as a Royal who should know how the whole thing works and how to ensure his wife is fully educated in the rules and regs. of being a Royal. She was his wife, why on earth was she going to HR at the Palace for help with mental health problems? Harry has loads of experience and the knowledge of where to get help, what on earth was he doing? Harry knows full well that there is a rule about not being given a royal title when it comes to Archie. Why didn't he explain this to Megan? It has absolutely nothing to do with Archie's skin colour. Why is Harry moaning about having their security removed given his father paid £4m for their security after the tax payer stopped paying after they moved to California?
It is not the Royal family's decision whither or not someone has The Metropolitan Police fly over to do security duties.
Prince William sorted the press out when they were making disparaging comments about Kate, why didn't he put his foot down as his brother did?

@derxa

Queen of England There's no such person.
Might be if the SNP get their way 😁
Itsalonghaul · 20/03/2021 08:56

Dont worry Queen Nicola is on her way out god willing.

Amen to that

@Itsalonghaul

One can but hope.

She can go to fuck LA as well. Perhaps they can rent her their spare room. Or perhaps be their nanny.

One would think they’ve got good feckin practice with the nanny state they are intent on creating.

derxa · 20/03/2021 09:06

We were all muddling along fine till Cameron and his fucking referendum. Now we've got Brexit, Megxit and Scexit.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 20/03/2021 09:10

Aye.

Skedaddle. Scram. And a ‘once in a lifetime’ Scunt.

LittleBearPad · 20/03/2021 09:10

Sorry for mentioning the SNP...

Don’t apologise. I’m only good company after a rant.

QE2 is often called the Queen of England here, beyond the pale. We love a royal visit, most of us.
There are photos of Harry and Meghan with our very small president and his enormous dogs. They did seem happy, they were just married when they visited Dublin.
I hope they can sort out meaningful future, all of them. It sounds trite, but it's what Diana would want.

redspecial · 20/03/2021 09:18

Happy people don't waste their time attacking other people exactly.

The world is like a mirror, they have so much to be happy about but can't stop lashing out and complaining instead, they don't reflect as a happy couple.

Take the chat show, due to lockdown they had an unusually captive audience, the world has the time to take more notice. They could have used that global platform for absolutely anything and been excited, positive and regaled us with their fantastic ideas and plans for the future. Compassion, service, all that stuff. Instead, a self-involved moan fest, a family member said something a couple of years ago that has clouded their entire lives ever since, one was feeling suicidal and the other didn't even bloody notice or bother to seek help, and they aren't rich enough for their own liking.

Expecting continued security funded by the taxpayer so they can feel important was particularly low, There are taxpayers who are struggling just to feed their own DC and keep a roof over their heads at the moment.

They're like that bland joyless couple who always find something pathetic to complain about, we all know the sort and grimace when we have to invite them to parties out of politeness, but they're exhausting to be around.

I think that is at the heart of it. I hope they are happy, make a good life for themselves but most of all I just hope they get on with it and stop this making themselves victims. I think being a victim can be addictive, bit like Munchausens and you can come to rely on everyone reassuring you, looking after you. It is very sad and destructive.

@PreparationPreparationPrep
Sorry what?
I have no idea why you addressed your post to me. So much projection there.

@derxa Amen to that I'll second that.

Nobody has made me see the benefit to having a Queen who thinks more long term, than Queen Nik

Frownette · 20/03/2021 09:35

Actually this security thing confuses me a lot. They took off to another continent and stopped being working royals saying they wanted to be financially independent. Now it turns out they don't.

I have a feeling RF may capitulate on this point, if only for a few years until they settle. Not sure either why they need met officers? There must be plenty of security firms there for people in the public eye in the area.

Trigger warning please!! 😂
GoLightlyontheEarth · 20/03/2021 10:05

I really think Royal accounts should be open to public scrutiny. None of us are going to know how much is being spent on this pair are we? Whilst they lounge around living the good life and continuing to whine .

OverByYer · 20/03/2021 10:06

Talking of security, Harry was papped pootling along in his electric bicycle. Followed by his security in a Range Rover. I’m still puzzled as to why if they wanted a ‘private life’ they moved to the heart of the showbiz circus with papa everywhere.
Why not stay in Canada or live in Harry’s beloved Africa?
It’s the hypocrisy and double standards that I can’t stomach.

ImpatiensI · 20/03/2021 10:10

I've a bit dreaded the moment when Q steps down and PC takes over but actually I think it's time now. She's done her time and should have some years just to herself (if she wants that).

When C takes over the RF should be scaled back to the monarch and spouse + next in line their spouse and children. That's it.

I read on another thread that U.K. tax paid protection was withdrawn not just because they were no longer working royals but also because it was too dangerous for the officers as they don’t carry fire arms. H&M, living on the other side of the pond, need gun carrying local protection.

I also understand from other threads that the tax paid protection only accounted for 5% of the protection with PC paying the rest. Posters have also commented Harry wanted far higher protection than that, which his father was paying. Tbh if this is true, that’s on them, not the RF. cut your cloth etc.

GoLightlyontheEarth · 20/03/2021 10:13

From a security point of view they would have been much better living in the UK. Everyone knows where they live, they keep drawing attention to themselves and anyone can carry a gun. Why didn’t they decide to live a quiet life in a modest house . Everyone would have forgotten about them within a year.
I wonder what sort of security Charles has at Highgrove or Princess Anne has at Gatcombe? Or even the Cambridge’s in Norfolk? Camilla I assume has protection in her private house where she spends a lot of time.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 20/03/2021 10:14

@fafadebelem

Look at how differently MM handled public service compared to Michelle Obama.
I remember Barack & Michelle both said they could not respond to certain issues sincerely as they would be seen as "the angry / aggressive black....".
Lockdownbear · 20/03/2021 10:14

@Frownette
Here's my take on it.
The RF don't actually pay for the Met Police. The Policing is provided and paid from a different government pot, they don't have a contract with the palace and don't send invoices to the palace.
Policing is only provided for Royals at work even Princess Anne doesn't have round the clock police.

A private security firm would be competitive tendered and billed. Who pays the bill?
Anne probably does have 24hr security paid for by her. Andrew pays for security for his daughters.
Should Charles pay for his DSs security bills?

Lockdownbear · 20/03/2021 10:22

@GoLightlyontheEarth

Charles has been quite careful about public money and I'll guess it was him who insisted the money for Frogmore was repaid to the public. What he gives privately is his business.
Mummyoflittledragon · 20/03/2021 10:22

Should Charles pay for his DSs security bills?

I expect he would pay if Harry had worked with him. As is Harry is living on another continent in a house, which needs an inordinate amount of security as it isn’t a secure compound.

Why should PC cough up several million a year to protect Harry and Meghan because of their lifestyle choices?

redspecial · 20/03/2021 10:31

There must be plenty of security firms there for people in the public eye in the area. loads of them. a lot of their neighbours will have security as standard, so they HAVE to have it too. Otherwise, you're a nobody. In the circles of very wealthy people they move in, they're comparatively poor and from what they have said that clearly chafes.
