Do you think Oprah didn't ask the right questions.

Lots of subjects were spoken about but I felt that Oprah could have asked for further information.

What questions do you think she should of asked.

My question is to Harry 'why didn't you get Meghan help with her MH if you are a loving husband'

@Bluntness100

I think Oprah gave them the platform to talk and that was the agreement in advance. It was never going to be a hard hitting investigative interview. And Oprah is more than capable of doing a hard hitting interview. She’s a shrewd bird that you’d not want to mess with. Not soft.

So the interview was exactly what was agreed. A platform for them to say their piece. They didn’t want to be interrogated or to have to justify their comments, they just wanted to say what they wishes to say, unchallenged.

^^ I agree with this and also that "the truth" in this circumstance is neither here nor there really, as long as they stay in the States that is, because most Americans, in general, won't really care and most Brits massively overestimate how significant we are to them.
Pleasegoawayandleavemealone · 15/03/2021 02:01

Posted too soon - in other words that interview was for the American market so what anyone in the UK thinks about it doesn't really matter. It served their goal of establishing themselves over in the States.

Maybe she should have asked Harry why he was willing to be interviewed on CBS.

In 2004 CBS was condemned when it was the only broadcaster or publisher to show the ‘distasteful’ photo of Princess Diana taken moments after the 1997 car crash in Paris in which she died.

When the same photo later appeared in an Italian magazine, Prince William and Prince Harry issued a rare statement condemning it, saying they were ‘deeply saddened that such a low has been reached'.

Oprah asked Meghan to do an interview when she joined the RF but Meghan said it was the wrong time Does this mean that Meghan planned to do an interview at some point in the future.

Was Archie offered any title?

Was Archie really not going to have his own security? Given the level of attention he would receive from the press he would be at risk if taken out by a nanny or went to nursery with no security present.

Where do they see themselves in 10 years time?

StartupRepair · 15/03/2021 03:49

I would ask:
How do you compare your suffering and anguish with that of people around the world who have lost loved ones and all financial security from the pandemic?
If you love the queen so much why are you doing this interview which will clearly embarass and hurt her?
What will Archie's future look like with only one extended family member?

the80sweregreat · 15/03/2021 07:00

They didn't mention the pandemic much at all apart from the inconvenience of living in Canada when it was locked down ' in someone else's house' , he was sneering a bit when he said this! Lots of people live on other peoples homes just have a roof over through heads , Harry !
He has no idea at all how lockdown has affected the brits and they don't care.

StormzyinaTCup · 15/03/2021 08:55

Waggishdancer I just wanted to pop on and say thanks for the HG Tudor recommendation. I’m interested in NPD as a general subject anyway but not come across him before. His views on the Oprah interview are really interesting. Lost quite a lot of yesterday evening to them! Smile

Yes, it's the dreaded DM, but I thought this article was really interesting and well balanced.

ittakes2 · 15/03/2021 15:18

I think Ophra was never going to try and make Harry or Meghan look bad so failed to ask some probing questions. Like who do you think is responsible for your security since you moved overseas a) British tax payer b) your dad/f'n'law c) yourselves?

redspecial · 15/03/2021 17:50

she asked the non-question questions they'd agreed in advance. It wasn't an interview.

otherwise there would have been questions such as how, with your passport 'confiscated' and feeling suicidal, did you manage to fly to New York for a baby shower?

did Harry break up with you before the Inskip wedding?

the80sweregreat · 15/03/2021 18:08

I would have asked Meghan why she lied about putting herself through college when she didn't completely as her dad paid for it?
Why didn't she google Harry and discover she was marrying a racist and his family have said racist things too. Why get involved with people like this when it's all documented in detail online? I would have steered clear myself.

Blueberries0112 · 15/03/2021 18:12

“she didn't completely as her dad paid for it“

My son have free tuition, and student loans that he will have to pay back after he finish college. Most higher end colleges have better financial aids for people whose parents make certain levels (it varies)

What makes you think he is paying for it? What I heard is that she was supporting him some when she was working at suits. Can not say it is true though

katy1213 · 15/03/2021 18:25

How exactly have you been 'silenced?" You were a D-list actress with a lifestyle blog.
Why did you slam the door in Kate's face when she came with flowers?
How would Americans feel if a British soap actress blew into the White House and started telling them how to do things?
As you're clearly no shrinking violet, why didn't you ask for a crash course in protocol or whatever you didn't understand?
What are the bookies' odds on a divorce within two years?

Spot on.
Blueberries0112 · 15/03/2021 18:33

They do tell us: health care, guns , etc.

Melanie Trump wasn’t born and raised here and she offered some of her opinions but it is too “American” for my liking

Ellie56 · 15/03/2021 19:51

Oprah should have asked Harry,

"Why didn't you get some mental health support for your wife? You were able to access it for yourself. Why couldn't you get the same for her? And what happened to 'What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.'? Or does that only apply to tiaras?"

"Why, when you're no longer working royals do you think the British taxpayer should continue to fund your security?"

Oprah didn't do her homework. If she had, she could have challenged them about Archie not being a prince and the nonsense about the wedding that wasn't.

This was the Meghan Show with Oprah as the support act and Harry with a token walk on part at the end.

StormzyinaTCup · 15/03/2021 20:02

I'd ask the following:

"'why is it that the racist comments made by your white husband PH and the racist comments made by your white best friend Jessica Mulroney appear to be forgivable but a racist comment made by a white member of your family in-law isn't? What's the formula you are using there?"

"Is it because the first two people are useful to you the third not so much?"

Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 20:37

Why don't you stop making up lies on the spot, @katy1213 ?

katy1213 · 15/03/2021 20:52

But it's fine for Megan to make vague accusations?
That interview was the biggest load of self-serving tripe since Diana and Panorama - all you can say for Meghan is that she has a steadier hand with the eye-liner!

Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 20:58

@katy1213 She hasn't made any 'vague' accusations. You, on the other hand, have made up an outright lie.

katy1213 · 15/03/2021 21:07

So throw in an allegedly if it keeps you happy.

StartupRepair · 16/03/2021 01:14

I think it is clear that not only the interview but the actual wedding was a branding exercise.

twinklystar23 · 16/03/2021 02:31

My phone they had asked for a further 12 months extension to the agreement, but it was denied by BP. Their security costs no longer bankrolled by Charles which may explain the "not taking my calls" bit. So it seems the gloves are off, as they have to fund their own security which is incredibly high as well as Archie's and the new baby, so I think it's about the money. They seemed to think at the outset the taxpayer would continue to do so!! (Estimated cost 5 x apparently if they were in the UK)

twilightcafe · 16/03/2021 16:38

Oprah is being blasted to hell and back on her Instagram feed. Seems like a lot of Americans saw straight through this charade as well.

Anne1958 · 16/03/2021 16:45

It served their goal of establishing themselves over in the States

I suspect they’ve realised the interview didn’t cause the level of stir they intended and this is why they have Gayle King reporting on a conversation she had with them within the last few days.

Just why won’t they shut up as they said they would last week?
