I suspect the avocado story was to reflect on their campaigning over climate change while not worrying about their own excessive carbon consumption. Kate has not lectured us on that subject.

cyclingmad · 09/03/2021 07:51
@Shehasadiamondinthesky, exactly! Here we have adults in their thirties

who apparently didn't have the wit to google, ask around a bit, watch and learn, discuss how they were going to fit into an institiution.

pathetic.
OK so back to before this interview and google it...Where does it tell you that yes in private family members curtesy to the Queen?

I'm British and never knew that, never read that anywhere.

Where does it say about the security only being if your titled Prince? Where is a clear definition on who gets a title? Even the media cannot tell you correctly, why because the Queen can make up a letter to allow it to happen likenahe did for George and Charlotte

Where on google does it tell you that you have over your passport etc to our aide or whoever and you never see it again?

Did you even know all of that yourself? Because I never did and no google doesn't have that information either.

There is no massive bible you csn go google on how to be the perfect royal

BelleSausage · 09/03/2021 07:52

At least three things they said have already proven to be untrue. It does not bode well for the veracity of the rest of it.

But people will believe what they want to believe. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ineedaholidaynow · 09/03/2021 07:54

But Harry would know this @cyclingmad. So yes on the first date he might not have told her everything, but surely way before they got married, even engaged he would have given her the low down on what like would be like.

VanCleefArpels · 09/03/2021 07:55

I believe they were treated terribly by the press and cannot fathom what that constant scrutiny will do to your mental health.

However one aspect of the suicidal thoughts revelation just does not ring true. M said she went to “the institution” to seek help but was rebuffed. Are we truly meant to believe that she just meekly accepted that? Her husband has said he was in therapy. He headed up a mental health charity and would have an address book bulging with relevant contacts. He is said to have had a stand up row about the wedding tiara. Are we really going to believe he wouldn’t go into bat in the strongest way to get his wife the help she wanted? Not just get in a car and go....anywhere?

Something about that just doesn’t ring true

I think they both had unrealistic expectations of being adored by the british public while not doing much at all. I can remember the petulant tantrums in Africa, it was as if they were walking around with their eyes shut, mouth droppingly unbelievable to witness.
I think they both believe that they have been treated badly, but they both seem to have an over entitled victim complex and situations are exaggerated to suit their agendas. I think Meaghan is continually playing a role and her underlying personality is likely not the one we see in public.
The sensible approach would be to leave the RF and go and live a happy life without the taxpayer funding it. To publically shit stir isn't the approach of someone wanting a private life imo.

covetingthepreciousthings · 09/03/2021 08:01

There were quite a few serious allegations, IF they were lying, surely there will be action taken from the palace about this? I find it very hard to believe they would go to all this effort and lie so openly if they both knew none of it was true.

I believe them, I think Harry perhaps wasn't as clear as he should have been to her about what she was getting into.

user68901 · 09/03/2021 08:03

i believe them and reckon there is a lot more that they didn't say. For those saying there are 2 sides well , we've heard the other side that has been peddled out by the press endlessly - not just the gutter press but that bloody woman in the The Times never shuts up about her too .

Pimlicojo · 09/03/2021 08:03

I think Meghan was probably right in that she didn't really understand what being a royal involved. I think she saw it as another level of celebrity and fame, and didn't realise that she couldn't live a Hollywood lifestyle flying around the world in private jets, hopping across the pond for baby showers etc. That doesn't sit well with the British public.

They now have the lifestyle they want, and I wish them well. But I fear it won't be enough.

Harry will ultimately be the loser in this.

lollipoprainbow · 09/03/2021 08:03

I didn't get why she said she's lost her dad, she hasn't he's still very much here ! I don't understand why she doesn't reach out to him now she is out of the royal family. Seems a shame.

Lampzade · 09/03/2021 08:03

All the mental gymnastics in this thread to prove that Meghan was not a victim of racism
All the victim blaming , gaslighting, minimising.
It’s a sad sight to behold and simply proves that many of the allegations against the Royal Family are true judging from some of the reactions here.
I lurked on the black mumsnetters thread ( I will not post, because I am white )and they are not surprised by some of the veiled racism on this thread and I know that many African Americans are not shocked by the racism in the UK. Many believe that at the root of this is the fact that an eloquent , attractive , super intelligent, self made woman biracial woman is seen as a threat to the order.
Harry and Meghan have made some mistakes, but they have definitely been the victims of a relentless hate campaign.
Let us be honest, Meghan and Harry have the the X factor and anyone who is trying to deny this is simply a liar.

Practicalprat · 09/03/2021 08:04

All I can think is MM is playing the role of a lifetime, everything is sooo staged. It’s like she’s playing a lead role the whole time.Cringey.
And how sad the cousins will hardly know each other, can they possibly imagine being welcomed back to the UK to spend Christmas at Balmoral or Easter with Charlie and Camilla, yeah that’s never gonna happen ever.Poor Harry is so doting but I feel he’s being dragged along with the whole movie show, and looks out of his depth and uncomfortable.

Lampzade · 09/03/2021 08:04

So he can sell another story to the press. Oh ok
randomdisneyaddict · 09/03/2021 08:05

No I don't believe them. They told at least 3 lies that were easily checkable in that interview so why should I believe the rest of it.

lollipoprainbow · 09/03/2021 08:05

@Lampzade he's desperate to make it up to her I doubt he would sell any more stories.

Nith · 09/03/2021 08:08

Up until a few months ago, I was very much on their side. I thought that Meghan was potentially a breath of fresh air to the Royal Family and exactly what it needed. But all the publicity-seeking and relentless self-marketing lately has made me increasingly uneasy, and I'm afraid this "Poor me" interview puts the lid on it. I'm perfectly happy for them to go off and live their lives in the US, Canada or wherever, but please don't expect me to feel sorry for a couple of very pampered millionaires desperate to make as much more money as they can out of Harry's family connections.

skodadoda · 09/03/2021 08:09

A bit rich isn’t it; Meghan goes public about private family matters days after winning her case against the Daily Mail about her private letters.

CristalCarrington · 09/03/2021 08:09

@lollipoprainbow - He is on GMB right now. Selling a story about her.

Lampzade · 09/03/2021 08:10
@lollipoprainbow - He is on GMB right now. Selling a story about her.
Exactly

CristalCarrington · 09/03/2021 08:10

He appears to have been drinking and comes across as an awful man. He says he will sell a story to the press about them every 30 days. After seeing him, it is very clear to see why she cut him off!

Nishky · 09/03/2021 08:12

The difficulty now is that surely the royal family will think that any conversation they have with them in future will be repeated in an interview- how does a family get round that?

Although with Diana they seemed to, by all accounts she and Charles were on good terms around the time of her death, so maybe it’s possible

Lampzade · 09/03/2021 08:12

He is so going to regret his actions.

Having difficulty with the concept of consent?

Millionaire actress marries millionaire prince. They have some family disagreements and decide to move away to a 14 million dollar mansion in California. My heart bleeds.

Meanwhile in the real world, thousands of people are dying from Covid, or having to struggle by on a reduced income as a result of Covid. Often having to decide whether they spend their few remaining pennies on food or heating the house.
