I think the allegations in the Oprah interview are serious enough that protocol should be breached and the Royals should have a voice to give their side too.

@BeaLola

Prince Charles is probably very hurt by his child's actions

Harry sounds like a kid not a 36 year old husband and father- also I'm not going to share the detail but I will hint and allude to it on prime time tv

You left your "job"as a member of the Royal Family but you still have cleft them to fund your lavish lifestyle - sorry your authentic lifestyle

I hope your house is nice seeing as it reportedly cost $14.5

Yes exactly...

They could have opted for a less ostentatious property to live their authentic life in!

Welcome to the real world where most 36 year old s are not funded by their parents.

@RaspberryCoulis

But that's why they spoke to Oprah. Because they knew there would be no comeback.
Hahahahha BS. There will be no come back because this isn’t some sort of Jeremy Kyle...it’s nothing to do with Oprah.

@likeamillpond

This is a woman who likes to fall out with people. Probably why there was only ONE person from her family at the wedding.
If you believe that you will believe anything. Who was MM going to invite? Her father or her sister Blush.

Hats off to MM mother she does so well to keep out of the drama. I feel for her.

mainsfed · 08/03/2021 22:45

Well if you don't believe that they say, then what's point in discussing it.

BeaLola · 08/03/2021 22:45

Wow - and the Oscar goes to ....

mainsfed · 08/03/2021 22:46

B&E are at this time higher up the pecking order.

No, they are not classed as senior royals, Harry was. His child was also going to have more interest than B or E's.

MrPickles73 · 08/03/2021 22:48

I fell asleep after 20mins..

00100001 · 08/03/2021 22:48

Fairly sure Beatrice and Eugenie only for Princess titles because Andrew stomped his feet and threw his toys out of the cot. They shouldn't be Princesses really.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/03/2021 22:50

B&E were entitled to princess titles - Archie wasn't as he's a generation further from the current monarch.

They get the princess titles because they are grandchildren of the monarch.

So Meghan doesn't want to hurt At his like she feels her Father hurt her .... so when he's older watching the interview he won't feel hurt that you wanted to end your life whilst pregnant with him ?

Dignified - Doris has been - Meghan not

So who commented on Archie - Prince Charles then from the hints etc from them both

Meghan wanted to be famous - now she is

Becles · 08/03/2021 22:55

The title thing is being twisted. Ro quite someone else:

"The issue I see is that Archie would technically become Prince when Charles becomes King, that's protocol BUT Meghan is saying that they wanted to change that law so Archie wouldn't become Prince and that was due to his race"

If Meghan sold the gifted earrings supposedly worth 500k that would pay for quite a bit

The victim blaming just gets worse here. The feelings of an adult son in 16 years time are more important than a pregnant woman feeling distress and talking about it?

Lauren15 · 08/03/2021 22:58

What will Archie and his little sister think about all this when they are older? I think children want to see their family getting along. I did and when they’d didn’t, it made me anxious. I have tried extremely hard to protect my children from the ups and downs of family relationships. I just would like them to feel part of a strong united family.

Cocogreen · 08/03/2021 22:59

I think they will say nothing.
Behind the scenes I think there will be meetings about how to cut them off completely, remove any titles that are left to them ( if they can) and give them no more oxygen.

mainsfed · 08/03/2021 23:00

What do Will and Harry care about Diana's interview with Martin Basheer? Not a jot I bet. She is still their mum.

I am not "victim blaming" as an adult and a parent there is a way to express yourself - she could have said she had suicidal thoughts at times during her early married life without specifically on worldwide tv talking in detail about at 5 months pregnant

But then will say how people in the royal family are racist but won't be honest by calling out exactly who it was that had that conversation with Harry - either be honest throughout - not when it suits you

mainsfed · 08/03/2021 23:11

You can't control feelings Bea. She says she didn't want to live, she's allowed her feelings and allowed to share them. I'm sure an adult Archie will cope.

It's their choice that they want to share there was racism but want to limit damage to the person who made the comment, after all, they are still Harry's family. Why are you blaming Meghan for that? It was Harry who said he would never reveal the person.

thegcatsmother · 08/03/2021 23:12

It is petulance though. They were handed a massive platform to effect change, on a plate. They could, with their planned involvement with the Commonwealth, have driven campaigns about FGM, educating girls, helped improve infant mortality...real change that would have had an effect for generations.

They rejected that opportunity for money, pure and simple.

Sophie Wessex tootles off to Sudan without fanfare to raise the profile of some of the charity work there...Markel could have done things like that....quietly but effectively.

Aspiringmatriarch · 08/03/2021 23:15

Just watched the interview, I think they came across well. I don't get all the hate, really. Meghan has always seemed genuinely nice to me, and afaik her previous colleagues etc all speak very well of her. So I don't think she's this mean girl/diva/narcissistic type person that seems to have been dreamt up on here and in the media more generally. She was on Suits for something like a decade wasn't she? Surely she'd have been written out of the series if she was that difficult to deal with. And looking at her father and sister, I think family she could actually have invited to the wedding were pretty thin on the ground, she's hardly to blame for that but it seems to be part of this narrative that she discards and alienates others when it suits her. I think that's an unfair characterisation.

I couldn't cope with even a tenth of what they've had to deal with and I do think that what they said about the lack of support and being constantly misrepresented etc rings true. Isn't it exactly what Diana went through, and even Fergie? I love the Queen but the whole royal apparatus seems like a nightmare and the media are just cruel. And there's a lot of cruelty on here in the posts mocking them for being overprivileged, even saying that Meghan is being manipulative talking about having felt suicidal.

That said I don't think there was genuine malice towards them from the rf, it's just that if your face doesn't fit they will throw you under the bus to protect the institution. It's pretty horrible when that's also your family, and your job, and you have no real agency over anything while being dragged through the mud in public.

Dannydevitoiloveyourart · 08/03/2021 23:16

I’m so gutted to be saying this because I’ve been rooting for Meghan and Harry all along, particularly as a fellow ‘woman of colour”.

So it pains me to admit to myself that the whole interview just seemed...petty. And also incredibly short sighted on Harry’s part if he’s intending to reconcile with his family.

I think Meghan has the image, the polish, the skills but lacks character unfortunately. And I really don’t know what to think of Harry at this point - I’m not sure what person does this to family they profess they love and want to reconcile with (he has acted no better than Meghan’s dad).

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 08/03/2021 23:19

I think her comment about it 'never being what it looks like' is interesting, all round, for Royal coverage.
