Meghan and Harry's new home in Santa Barbara

Well I've seen the news articles and their new home looks absolutely beautiful and a dream SB pad with the ivy clad walls, pool, tennis court etc. SB has gorgeous homes although very expensive and pretty unaffordable for the humble hoi pilloi. I think Meg has played a blinder. I truly hope their marriage lasts but if not she is in possession of some prime real estate and a neighbor of Oprah. It's also where so many politicians come through fundraising at private events, so if she is politically ambitious she is well situated.

However with 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms 😄 I really think they CANNOT lecture the world on cutting back and making do to save the environment in anyway!

I am sure DM readers will explode with jealousy and a collective gnashing of teeth. But they wanted her gone, and she has, to a beautiful ocean facing estate with year round sunshine. Good on yer Megs! Grin

He was the one who poured the red wine over the cellar floor to give it an 'authentic' smell.

Grin

That’s a pretty good tip.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 17/08/2020 14:23

@ajandjjmum. Wow, there are definitely done interesting people inthis world.🤣

Mind you, my basement had a touch of the authentic red wine smell as I accidentally knocked a bottle of plonk off the wine rack while exercising!

boltzmannbrains · 17/08/2020 14:25

My alcohol shelf currently smells like Lidl gin, does that count? Grin

ajandjjmum · 17/08/2020 15:12

Must be honest, I'd rather drink it than spill it!

LaundryBasketOfHell · 17/08/2020 16:30

Spilling the wine is unbelievably pretentious.

SusansSassySidePony · 17/08/2020 22:04

It didn't seem pretentious. The interview was quite fun and also included information about the width of the plywood, etc. It had obviously been a dream family home for the original owners/builders.

It’s not their fault the British press and some of the British public is still so utterly obsessed with them @boltzmannbrains you may want to reread your posts, you're the only one on here who seems utterly obsessed. Grin

boltzmannbrains · 17/08/2020 22:25

I’m not the one who starts zillions of threads about them (have never started a single thread), follows their every movement, creates dozens of accounts after being banned for the sole purpose of continuing to attack someone, sock puppets to make it look like people agree with me, and attack anyone with an alternate opinion.

But on MN you aren’t allowed to not hate Meghan, or even to point out untruths, without being attacked.

boltzmannbrains · 17/08/2020 22:28

However it is very interesting that their house move got leaked (6 months after they moved) the exact same weekend new details about Andy, plus the “Earl’s daughter” story about William, hit the press. Shock

SusansSassySidePony · 17/08/2020 22:35

I don't hate Meghan. I've never been banned and I've been here for years. I'm genuinely perplexed by certain posters who are determined to push one narrative or the other about H&M and to try to divide everyone into sides.
It's odd you don't consider yourself invested when you look back over your posts on this thread or that you consider a People article to be a reputable source for facts but ... obviously you do. It just struck me as amusing that you couldn't see it for yourself. But obviously you are too emotionally involved to see the humour or to see that most people don't share your zeal.

If you’ve been posting for years then you must have seen the literal hundreds of extremist hate, abuse, and overt racism aimed at Meghan here, as well as the orchestrated hate and bullying campaigns designed to drive off anyone who holds a positive or even neutral opinion on Meghan, or anyone who attempts to defend her against lies and racial abuse.

How many black and other POC posters have been bullied off MN over the past two years?

I don’t post in any of the long running Harry and Meghan threads, I don’t post in any of the ‘secret’ Penguin threads, I don’t post in the new forum set up by banned MNers. I don’t start endless threads about her. And SusansSassySidePony maybe you don’t do all those things but there are certainly plenty of posters who do.

Yet those posters are never called “obsessive”. Yet anyone who says a single positive word about Meghan is, almost without exception, immediately called obsessive, fangirl, paid PR, accused of derailing.

These are classic examples of bad faith posting designed to drive away and censor alternate opinions.

boltzmannbrains · 17/08/2020 22:51

that you consider a People article to be a reputable source for facts but ... obviously you do.

I also posted a link to the actual Royal Report pdf which confirmed the info that People (amongst many other media outlets) reported. Nice selective twisting of the facts there.

attacking W &K

Funny how Meghan is relentlessly attacked and abused, slut shamed, had all kinds of crazy lies made up about her, yet it’s always described as “opinion” and “valid criticism”, yet factual statements or negative opinion about Will and Kate is “attacking”. Such a double standard!

I hate ALL royals because I am an ardent Republican. They are all vile exploiters and we should get rid of the monarchy ASAP.

If you are referring to Laine Gossip and the Daily Beast, I wouldn’t call those reputable sources.

As far as Awful Andrew is concerned, he will get what is coming to him hopefully. Speculation about W&K’s marriage is probably off limits the way a lot of things are regarding M&H or do you believe in one rule for one and another for them?

It's not my double standard. I clearly said there were two sides determined to push their own narratives. I've reported vicious posts about H&M and about W&K.
I'm criticising the posters on both sides who make vile accusations. It's a shame you don't feel able to do the same.

I haven’t seen any of this and I’ve been here since day dot, and a neutral regular on the Royal threads.

What I do is is people really wanting and wishing that this had been a beautiful love story but instead being frustrated by so many poor decisions.

Shabooma · 17/08/2020 23:10

Sorry I appear to have stirred a hornet's nest and I didn't mean to. I forgot what an odd, angry bubble these threads can be. The attitudes are so different from everywhere else on MN.

I do love the playground at the new house. It seems quite unusual to have so much outdoor space dedicated to DCs and it's a great idea.

Welcometothelifeboatparty · 17/08/2020 23:29

I'm with you @Shabooma . I've been here all along under different names and I've never seen any of those things. I'm flummoxed by the acccusation, TBH.

Welcometothelifeboatparty · 17/08/2020 23:33

TBH I'm not sure where boltzmansbrains is getting those ideas from Confused

Certainly not reading the stories I am

LaundryBasketOfHell · 18/08/2020 03:27

Well, I’d never heard of this stuff before boltz blurted it out. Of course Archie is Harry’s son - why else would he be called Harrison?

KatherineParr4 · 18/08/2020 07:05

@boltzmannbrains

Nope, it is yesterday's news now. No one cares anymore, it is boring and lame in the face of covid etc. The world has moved on.

Most people have moved on. I almost never hear a word about her outside of MN. The Meghan-haters are still completely obsessed with her. Poor things, not only are they letting Meghan live rent-free in their heads (while she happily frolicking in her enormous beachside mansion, with her loving husband and their baby), they're also giving her constant PR and keeping her in the media and public eye.

The posters fixated on hating her are the reason the Mail runs stories on her every day, because the Mail know they won't just be clicking once and staying on the page briefly the way a casual fan or non-fan might, but staying on the page for a long time, engaging in the comments section, and making repeated visits to the same page to see what other comments have been posted. That kind of behaviour is gold dust for an advertiser-led data mining website. It's the same clickbait model CDAN commercialised: actively weaponizing hate and obsessive fan-dom.

They need to give back Frogmore and pay back the refurb costs.
The Queen is legally obligated to maintain the listed buildings she owns in a fit state, and she receives state money to do so. Frogmore wouldn't need so much expensive structural work if the Queen hadn't neglected it and her other properties so badly. Getting her grandson to agree to be financial responsible for essential maintenance on HER property is a masterstroke of manipulation, I admit. Harry and Meghan paid for all the interior and design work themselves, it was only the essential structural work they didn't pay for but have offered to pay for anyway.

I really think they CANNOT lecture the world on cutting back and making do to save the environment in anyway!
Meghan rarely if ever talks about climate change, and Harry's done some lecturing but not masses. Climate change isn't one of their pet causes, the way it is for Prince "dozen private jet flights in two weeks" Charles. William and Kate have lectured on climate change far more than Harry and Meghan and they travel by private jet far more too (recently took a private jet from Norfolk to Cornwall to go on holiday).

I thought they went to the ScillyIsles by helicopter not private jet? This is the way many people get there and I assume William flew the helicopter himself. I read this somewhere but happy to be corrected.

I think this ‘hatred of Meghan because she’s mixed race’ line has been done to death now.

No, most posters don’t hate her. They are disgusted by what has happened within the RF since she came in the scene. Most are disgusted with Harry too. They bring the bad press and commentary on themselves by the way they conduct themselves. The choices they make, the appallingly crass way they treat those close to them, their hypocrisy and the empty mouthing of what Meghan likes to call ‘noise’. The lecturing, superior arrogance that they both display, whilst doing nothing at all useful with their lives. All the while living off money they didn’t earn, on the other side of the world in a mansion bought by PC in all probability.
That’s what you call ‘hate’. No, it’s utter disbelief and annoyance . Many are also very sad and bewildered. Even if you aren’t a Royalist, it’s an utter mess. Have you read FF? Because anyone who has cannot have a good word to say for them.
