Meghan and Harry's new home in Santa Barbara

Well I've seen the news articles and their new home looks absolutely beautiful and a dream SB pad with the ivy clad walls, pool, tennis court etc. SB has gorgeous homes although very expensive and pretty unaffordable for the humble hoi pilloi. I think Meg has played a blinder. I truly hope their marriage lasts but if not she is in possession of some prime real estate and a neighbor of Oprah. It's also where so many politicians come through fundraising at private events, so if she is politically ambitious she is well situated.

However with 9 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms 😄 I really think they CANNOT lecture the world on cutting back and making do to save the environment in anyway!

I am sure DM readers will explode with jealousy and a collective gnashing of teeth. But they wanted her gone, and she has, to a beautiful ocean facing estate with year round sunshine. Good on yer Megs! Grin

@disgruntled515

I've just finished the H&M book and it talks about people taking photos of their bedrooms etc. In that respect I understand why they would want massive grounds around them. From a holiday there, Santa Barbara is just stunning. I agree that the running costs will be astronomical - they'll have assistants to co-ordinate it all I'd imagine. The book claimed the copper bath was a myth too.

I love H&M but they are making some impulsive decisions and I really hope things can settle down for them now and they get the family space they want

It's been a surreal few months for most people, no less so for the rich and famous. One good thing for them is they've had plenty of quality time with Archie.

I think they'll be OK when there is some 'normality'' again and hope they come over here fairly often. Perhaps we can kidnap DM reporters for the duration :-).

I quite liked the book, learned things about Harry that I didn't know; a lot of the nasty rumours were dispelled too.

Why would they want to come back to the uk fairly often? And why would the royal family engage with them - they be instructing their younger royals not to chat with Meghan for fear of being recorded in the diary and included in the next book in a negative way - won’t play with Archie, buy him the wrong toys etc. And would you be wanting to explain to young children what a grifter is and to avoid at all costs?

sunglassesonthetable · 02/09/2020 08:23

You sound like the sort of person who would curtsey to them.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 ( you don't)

Why on earth do you ‘love’ them. You do t know them?

I’d say the same about anyone professing you ‘love’ a celebrity so this isn’t a dig at H&M.

Not that I need to justify my opinions to random people.... but I have some connections to charity work they have done and I think they’ve done a good job. I respect Prince Harry for being open about his mental health issues, and as a mixed race woman it was refreshing to see someone with Meghan’s heritage in that role and much of the coverage she received felt close to home. And no, I did not curtesy to them

Viviennemary · 02/09/2020 14:05

I agree and can't understand why Meghan wants to come back to the UK. She has made it quite clear she couldn't wait to get away and was totally dissatisfied with her role as a working member of the royal family. Seeing her back with a wide grin and two fingers up at everyone would be a gross insult.

sunglassesonthetable · 02/09/2020 15:27

Course they'd like to come back to visit. How strange you are???Hmm

Harry's family are all here, Archie's cousins and grandparents. It's where he grew up. It would be VERY strange not to visit.

Obvs that's you conjecturing about the 2 fingers up😂 But M does have a very nice smile.

@CrowdedHouseinQuarantine

why would anyone need 16 bathrooms? how bizarre in a 9 bedroom house
I think it's quite the thing to have His & Hers shitters leading off from many of the bedrooms. Plus pool-house 'bathrooms' etc.

Basically it's a lot of bogs.

BBC have reported on a Netflix deal with H&M that they are going to make tv programmes.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-54003296

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reached a deal with streaming giant Netflix to make a range of programmes, some of which they may appear in.
"Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope," said Prince Harry and wife Meghan.
"As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us," they continued.
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos said he was "incredibly proud" the royal couple had made the company "their creative home".
The multi-year deal will encompass documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children's programming.
It comes six months on from the couple stepping down from royal life and moving to California to live away from the media spotlight.
"Our lives, both independent of each other, and as a couple have allowed us to understand the power of the human spirit: of courage, resilience, and the need for connection," said the couple in a statement.
"Through our work with diverse communities and their environments, to shining a light on people and causes around the world, our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope.
"As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us, as is powerful storytelling through a truthful and relatable lens."
Sarandos said Netflix was "excited about telling stories" with the couple "that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere".

And speaking through a truthful....lens - they best buy a new one! [grin}

@wufti I was thinking the same thing about the RF. It would be hard to welcome someone ie M into a private gathering after they've been so indiscreet in the past. Also you can imagine M looking for more ways in which she's been slighted. Maybe someone in the RF can do a Coleen Rooney and slip M some false gossip and see if it appears in the public domain!

seayork2020 · 04/09/2020 07:30

I can't up with them but are the not into climate change? with that house?

Polkasquare · 04/09/2020 07:34

Are they actually bathrooms though? Some might just be loos?

Even so....16 loos. Still seems rather excessive for three people.
