I thought we could have a thread for latest news. MN did say they didn't mind one or two threads. And no rules except stick to MN guidelines. It's Meghans birthday today I just read. And the Queen has wished her a very happy birthday on the royal Instagram page according to that popular Oracle the DM.

Quote from MM 19th* summit interview:

We've become so, sadly, comfortable with the idea that we are just getting all this stuff and it becomes noise as opposed to truth and accurate journalism, so I think, if this can be the catalyst for reset for other news organizations, my goodness, it's going to change the game so much.

I think her litigation against AN is, in her mind, a principled quest for truth, on a par with liberal outlets' fact-checking and reporting of Trump / the truth-telling the 19th* says it's going to do.

These two are going to get eaten alive when they eventually get out into the world. They've made the classic mistake of thinking that fame = greatness.

Just read the comments M made while interviewing at the 19th conference. Her husband has never had the right to vote. Poor H so disenfranchised.

Eaumyword · 14/08/2020 23:17

M's wrong there, H has the right to vote, but the RF traditionally don't out of respect&support for the Monarch, who has to work with whomever is voted in.

i wonder what Obamas, Coolenys, etc will think when they read this book.

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 01:04

that quote from MM is like word salad again.

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 01:05

agree aRosein Harlem, These two are going to get eaten alive when they eventually get out into the world.

Wildly indiscreet, avoid, avoid, avoid?
bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 01:06

i wonder how they get morgage for 9 millions when they are unemployed. it seems they dont get money from the book.

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 01:07

if that book is aimed for US its hard chance it will give good impression about them.

Pancakeorcrepe · 15/08/2020 06:32

The word salad is back! You can really see how FF is Meghan’s voice after seeing this interview... “the noise, “the toxicity”,”very passionate”, “this is fascinating”, their work spoke to me” etc...
I find it so weird that the she has to keep mentioning “her husband” and “we talk about this a lot at home”. It really is them against the world in her mind. I can’t believe she had to get that dig in about voting/ Royal Family. It’s not even correct! She doesn’t have an understanding of things and still feels entitled to comment.
Also “I look forward to using my voice” - you had your voice for ages before and after and didn’t use it. Is she really blaming the Royal Family again!
It mentions in the article that Meghan contacted the organisation and not the other way around, I’m not surprised.

mrscampbellblackagain · 15/08/2020 08:33

I bet their mortgage is arranged via coutts or a private bank like that and they know the RF are good for the money. Somehow doubt they had to produce three years of accounts and bank statements Wink

I think MM 'helped' with the book but Harry not so much. It is interesting how he appears to be portrayed as hot headed and quite difficult isn't it?

Notice the word 'noise' which is used in the book repeatedly.

I’ve read it 3 times. I still don’t understand it - and I’m quite bright!
MangoFeverDream · 15/08/2020 10:02

Like Prick Andrew, the second son appears to be allowed to get away with anything with very few consequences, and others picking up the pieces

The fact this dynamic has been repeated at least three generations (from Princess Margaret) suggests an ongoing problem within the family. You’d think William would be concerned for his children.

KatherineParr4 · 15/08/2020 10:08

I’m sure he is but what can he do? There never seem to be consequences for bad behaviour. Issues just get covered up or money is thrown at them. Or both. It’s high time we had a referendum on the RF. They are an outdated institution.

WinnieTheW0rm · 15/08/2020 10:36

You’d think William would be concerned for his children

And, one hopes, will be looking at Princess aAnne and Prince Edward - also 'spares' - as possible ways ahead. Edward rather misfired a number of times, then went quietly into the duller, worthy duties and he (and especially his Countess) are now reliable and popular workhorses. Anne excelled as a sportswoman, and has a Royal role which includes solid achievement - both representationally (general work for her patronages and more mainstream role for a while with Save the Children - even being nominated for Peace Prize in 1990; and more independently - Olympics)

thecatsthecats · 15/08/2020 11:12

Whether deliberate or not, a big sporting talent is a highly savvy avenue for a royal to pursue.

It involves hard work and determination, but in generally enjoyable areas. It has connotations of heroism without the danger of the army. Britain has notable success in sports requiring expensive equipment like rowing, sailing and riding - no problem for the Royals. And if you're a non-working Royal, you can take advantage of all the sponsorship. Sports people of a certain calibre are also often quite disciplined and abstemious, so it lessens the chance of scandal.

If I were William and Kate, I'd be giving great encouragement to Charlotte and Louis if they expressed even modest talent in a sport.

derxa · 15/08/2020 11:12

Here we are commemorating VJ day. Remembering the sacrifice of many lives. Does Harry give them a thought?

Catsup · 15/08/2020 11:15

@WindsorBlues How are you finding FF in general? Is it consistently so much fluff and guff throughout? From that one page alone it reads as absolute twaddle! 🙄

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 12:15

completely agree LittleBearPad i am sure they dont understand what they are saying either.
Pancakeorcrepe i completely agree with your post. the word 'catalyst' is quite heavy for them, too.

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 12:17

Princess Diana had integrity, these two dont have any.

bluebell34567 · 15/08/2020 12:19

agree with your post KatherineParr4, infact with all your posts.

YgritteSnow · 15/08/2020 12:32

They do seem to keep forcing themselves onto people and organisations don't they. The phone calls to their suppliers and other randoms as though they're bestowing big treats. It's quite ill mannered really because these people won't feel in a position to refuse, even if they're not comfortable.

WindsorBlues · 15/08/2020 12:33

I've finished - while I didn't love it, it was an easy read. I did roll my eyes more than I did when I powered through fifty shades of grey 😂.

There isn't any bombshells in it - just them confirming all the tabloid stories we already know and giving there side.

Lots of fluffy language and as a PP said Harry is portrayed as a bit unstable he's the angry m one 'leading' all the confrontations whereas Meghan is always glorious when they describe her: powerful, young, beautiful, graceful, as big as Diana ect.

Kate is only mentioned in a negative way, comparing her unfavourably to Meghan or criticism for her lack of warmth. It's neutral towards Charles and the Queen.

All the interesting parts have been in the papers, if you really want to read it wait until the price is knocked down in a few weeks, it's not worth the current price tag.
