@rousette

I'm sure you won't mind that your excellent link gets 'pinned'.

Some of the things MM did before marrying H.

My favourite as far as style is Queen Letizia of Spain. Here she is with the Queen.
Love what she wears. Sometimes she goes totally off piste with style, she dares to be different at times.

Fun fact... she had the most expensive wedding dress ever. £6MILLION Shock

Ohh she looks like Julia Roberts in pretty woman!

JaJaDingDong · 30/07/2020 19:01

How on earth can one dress cost £6,000,000? Shock

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 30/07/2020 19:02

Beatrice Borromeo, 2015
Italian aristocrat, Beatrice Borromeo, wore five dresses for her wedding(s) to Princess Caroline of Monaco's son Pierre Casiraghi in 2015. Our favorite was her custom Giorgio Armani Privé gown, featuring a trailing cape and sweeping train, which she wore to their second reception on her family's private Italian island.

Lavatory...
Thunderbox!
Serenster · 30/07/2020 19:04

The groom? He's the married-in in this case, the bride is the oldest child and will be the next monarch.

They had such a romantic story though - Victoria suffered from anorexia in her early 20s and her now husband was at the time her personal trainer (well he actually also owned the gym that she trained at) who she credits with helping her find her way back to health. It took years apparently before the King would accept him as a suitable husband for her.

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 30/07/2020 19:05

That's a nice story! Inner beauty then!

That's so romantic. He must have loved her to help her back to a healthy lifestyle. (Ex- anorexic here)

It's an evening gown. Bare shoulders with evening gowns has never, ever been an issue (not even back in Victorian dates!)

Harry? Thunderbox????
What? Don't you call it that?

We also talk of going for an Allied....... Allied Carpets Massive Clearout.

Samcro · 30/07/2020 19:16

Allied, thats good.
Might nick it.

HarryDaylight · 30/07/2020 19:17

Apologies if I've offended anyone with my lavatory talk on a royal thread. Blush

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 30/07/2020 19:17

Harry 😀 , were a bit more low brow I'm afraid!

Oh heck, don't remind me of that !

One of my favourite images of a wedding is this one. They were American royalty. J F Kennedy Jr, and Carolyn Bessette. It's sleeveless, backless, the lot, but beautiful to my eyes.So poignant as they both died in a helicopter crash less than 3 years later.
A moment in time...

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was stunningly beautiful and had such fantastic style.

JFK Jr and CBK’s death was a tragedy.

mrscampbellblackagain · 30/07/2020 19:25

Love that too @Roussette

SilkandSandwiches · 30/07/2020 19:27

Wasn't that the start of wearing what looked like it might be underwear? Most famous (in my memory) Diana at the Met ball(?) in a navy silk frock with black lace that definitely looked as though it could have been her nightie.
