@rousette

I'm sure you won't mind that your excellent link gets 'pinned'.

Some of the things MM did before marrying H.

Loved this article 😄
@AnneOfQueenSables , Sweden has that. I believe it is some etiquette, but also some constitutional law and the place of the monarchy if I remember correctly. The wife of the prince Carl Philip (second in line like Harry) did that.

She was the one starting out as a tattooed glamour model and reality show participant with horrendous press coverage.

Last thing I read, she was volunteering at a Swedish hospital (were she is a patron) during the coronavirus pandemic. Volunteering as a help to the nurses (took a short course to do that), so nothing glamorous. She gets a lot of good press these days.
I forgot about Princess Sofia! They were brutal about her, making out she was a sleazy porn star and gold digger. Now she’s considered one of the favourite royals, especially after all her hard work through the pandemic.

I thought toilet was the upper class (or U in Mitford terms) word and loo was the dreaded middle class or non U choice? In which case Carole was doing it 'right'? Just shows you can't win.

I say toilet and am proud of it.

The Swedish upper class girls were quite cross when Prince Carl Philip married his glamour model (attaching picture of the Swedish prince)

I don't think it's helpful to set up any competition between Kate and Meghan as to who had it worst from the press, because I think they both had a terrible time of it, for different ways. Meghan had the clickbait "death by a thousand cuts" of being shoehorned into any story possible in the most inflammatory ways order to encourage people to read, react and comment. Kate had the as-yet-unscrutinised tabloid tactics of scrums of paparazzi, the topless photos, and the invasion of having her voicemails listened to every couple of days for nearly two years. I don't think Kate should have felt she just had to take it on the chin, but she did, and I admire her for it.

Good god! They all look like models! Makes our home grown royals look a bit less blessed. The prince puts me in mind of Henry Cavill ( you know what I think of him!)
Wheresthebeach · 30/07/2020 18:34

Wow...I wouldn't mind those faces on a £20 note!

Yes, indeed - hence the snort....

lifestooshort123 · 30/07/2020 18:46

Lavatory...

Serenster · 30/07/2020 18:50

Speaking of the Swedes, oldest sister Crown Princess Victoria had my favourite royal wedding look. Classic simple but luxe dress, and topped off but absolutely amazing historic, authentic Napoleonic jewellery that probably would have been too much with any other dress.

TheChristmasPrincess · 30/07/2020 18:55

@Serenster that was the type of dress I was hoping for from Meghan. A classic silhouette but modern and sleek. I was really disappointed by her dress. And it was so ill fitting too. The Art Deco tiara was beautiful though, shame that her hair started coming lose not long after 😐

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 30/07/2020 18:55

I hate to say it ... but he's not up to the same standard!
