A continuation for those who would like to look at the positive side of Harry and Meghan.

i think people just make stuff up. look at mn people just make up stuff about them. and then it becomes real in someones minds.

Becles · 23/05/2020 19:33

At the moment Mumsnet is currently permitting posts claiming MM either hit or smacked Charlotte on the other threads.

Roussette · 23/05/2020 19:54

That's appalling. Especially as MNHQ delete whole threads for far less about minor celebrities. I'm shocked.

CallmeAngelina · 23/05/2020 20:24

I am no fan of the way things have turned out with the Sussexes but there is absolutely NO WAY that Meghan would have hit/smacked/anything else Charlotte. Absolute load of old tosh. And I agree that any posts alleging such a thing should be deleted.

Cerseirys · 23/05/2020 20:29

That's utterly preposterous and how rumours begin. And I'm a LIW to the Queen btw...

chrisseldah1 · 23/05/2020 21:35

Oh dear, that’s such a crazy rumour 🤦🏾‍♀️.

MoreHippoThanPenguin · 23/05/2020 21:50

Hi! Popping in to say that the offending post was deleted, but before that happened, there was post after post stating that it was absolute garbage.

Not sure if anyone here is interested in pictures only (or if you speak Swedish, very nice text), but there is a Swedish blogger, Ebba Von Sydow, who writes about royals every Friday. Always very positive and the most negative I ever seen has been “beautiful, but not as amazing as at X occasion”. There were some cute pictures of the Swedish Crown Princess and her children tending bees (and many of Maxima of the Netherlands and her fantastic outfits) and many of the British Royal Family a few weeks back , Scroll down for 08-05-2020. A super cute of Meghan and Archie in addition to many others, most flashbacks.

Thanks MoreHippo

I’m not really really a MM groupie, but I find it so sad that for some this one woman is so hated that they make crazy , hurtful stuff about her. I’m glad the posts got deleted wherever they were.

Every time I read hit pieces in the media or some very cruel commentary about her I’m glad she left the U.K. Sure America is not paradise in terms of what she may face in the tabloids. But I doubt problematic stuff said elsewhere in the media would go unchallenged like it did here. There are recent examples of people being challenged for being unnecessarily cruel to her.

Samcro · 23/05/2020 23:39

I saw the stupid post on the other thread and to be fair no one believed it.
Sadly they just made up stuff that might have happened.

Roussette · 24/05/2020 08:23

Yes, agree. Trouble is... this is how rumours and innuendo starts. The fact that it's endlessly talked about means anyone looking in could possibly think 'no smoke without fire' because that's what people do.

Cerseirys · 24/05/2020 09:44

Quite @Roussette. Just look at how "Kate was in tears at Charlotte's dress fitting" (the reaction of a newly post-partum woman seeing her little girl looking grown up in a bridesmaid dress?) soon became "Meghan made Kate cry at Charlotte's dress fitting" and then evolved into "Meghan told Charlotte off at the dress fitting". And now someone who claims to be "in the know" goes a step further and says something even more ludicrous.

Never mind that, at the time, the palace actually flatly denied that any tear-related incident had ever happed!

Mummy195 · 24/05/2020 09:52

Haha, I skimmed through that thread yesterday and today. So many lies and inaccuracies all to bitch about MM, no wonder it attracts ppl who post such bollocks. From Charlotte being smacked, shouted at by MM and was there a scenario where she might have been grabbed or something. An inaccurate pic of MM without rings being attributed to her coming out of the National Theatre - so she changed her white dress / shirt, hair, jewellery and wore a navy pant suite and blue shirt just for walking out of the theatre? and took off her wedding ring she we add.

Ppl will find anything to nitpick I guess, even them ringing the ppl who worked at the wedding - those ppl (the cake maker, dressmaker etc.) sent will wishing in advance of the wedding on their SM, it sounds polite to ring them back, especially since H&M don't have a SM account currently. As for the interview video with the rude journalists, well I must have been looking at something else entirely.

An inaccurate pic of MM without rings

Inaccurate, how? Are you saying you think it was photo-shopped?

Mummy195 · 24/05/2020 09:59

What I was actually referring to regarding the 'Palace Source' was the actual information like who leaked the exit. Because D Wottoon gleefully called Jeremy V and said it was being printed in their papers at night for that day's copy and H&M quickly released their statement. He then came on later that week to say they had contacted the palace and told them we give you the necessary 7 days or whatever, otherwise we are printing the story. So HMQE knew that it would come out , she should have been told. So who leaked this exit plan.

Also, who leaked the private jets. That story came out a bit later, it was a personal trip, but it looks like someone must have been looking at their itinerary - possibly the security one if H&M were trying to be discreet.

I am not referring to the made up tiara story, making K cry etc.

No, not photoshopped, but an incorrect picture from another event. Certainly she was not coming out of the NT, her NT pictures are on SR IG page and she is not wearing that suit.

The fact that it's endlessly talked about means anyone looking in could possibly think 'no smoke without fire' because that's what people do

The 'endless talking about' is important, though. It's how humans process information about the world, understand what is happening and make decisions. It's an evolutionary survival mechanism. It helps us to work out who is friend or foe, who can help us or may harm us and our children. It can't be stopped naturally (only artificially via, e.g., a clampdown on what can be talked about). M took our money and our goodwill and ran off with it. H was either complicit or instigator. That's what people are trying to work out - who, how, why, what, when.

Mummy195 · 24/05/2020 10:20

Ppl can work out answers if they are discussing accurate information. I think that was the point of the letter to the press. H&M did pretty much call the BM out as liars, they also said there is no problem in them being discussed on actual facts.

MM did not take your money and run off. They worked for it, same as other royals, if not even more than most. You keep referring to goodwill as if, they were sitting around begging. How much the royals themselves bring back to the country and their responsibilities. That is a discussion for another time and is very complicated. Myself I am not anti monarch, as I feel overall we get more out of them than most wealthy individuals and companies dodging tax all over this country (doesn't HMQE pay the highest tax in the land). But your goodwill sentence sounds as if you want H&M to be forever indebted to you, you should be happy for the minus £££ expenditure from our coffers now, surely.

Samcro · 24/05/2020 10:28

i have been shocked that a parenting site has allowed so many post full of made up bs to stand.
its one thing to discuss the royals. but make stuff up about them and link to made up stuff is really "not in the spirit"
yet for some reason mn hq think its ok in this case. really bad.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 24/05/2020 10:33

It's shocked and disappointed me too Samcro.

Mummy195 · 24/05/2020 10:39

Mumnet is starting to get a reputation. I saw a tweet and a few comments on other websites where MN were described as a supposed mum support site who are a platform for hate and bitchiness to other mums. There were other US sites quoted too, but MN stood out since I am on here.

OP posts:
Samcro · 24/05/2020 11:06

yes sadly i think the allowing of posts ripping a mother to bits has not helped Mn. you would think at a time when they are saying they are struggling they would want to attract good publicity.

thisenglishlife · 24/05/2020 11:49

It helps us to work out who is friend or foe, who can help us or may harm us and our children Look at you trying to justify your hate. Why don't you look people who have actually done something wrong? The dodgy finances of the Yorks, Andy's long list of dodgy friendships, Charles Spider Letters, the media suppression of actual wrongdoings by the Royal Family (don't report about us, we'll let you have H&M instead).

Kate didn't even go to Charlotte's fitting, nanny Maria was there instead.

Samcro · 24/05/2020 12:24

i would love to know how a royal can "harm" us.
the excuses people make for ripping some one apart is a joke(hope so)
as for M "took our money" so sexist.

Becles · 24/05/2020 13:18

One of my friends said that it boils down to MM not being grateful enough.

She's a mixed race, American divorcee who was permitted to marry a prince. The price was her mental health due to targeted character assassination. It shouldn't have been a problem and she now owes us for drawing a line, particularly around her son.
