New thread

Has anyone seen that Lady Colin Campbell has written a book on Harry and Meghan using insider information. Apparently she’s has members of the Markle family to stay. She’s brave!

I think she did it because of the tour and the fact she might need to rest or take time off. Although all her announcements seem to be timed to take the spotlight off some other member et of the RF. she likes to be the star then at all times.

I was shocked at the time that she told people at the wedding, and that was when I still liked her. Terrible bad form. Especially when Eugenie's wedding had already been moved to make way for hers! The poor girl! And yes, there is zero need to wear such a conspicuous coat at 8 weeks. Just more 'look at me' behaviour. So sad really that anyone feels the need to 'one up' people that way

Mariposa123 · 16/05/2020 18:59

I always thought about that! My daughter is a week older than Archie and I was 10’weeks gone at Es wedding. I waited to tell my work until I was 12 weeks but the whole week before all anyone was talking about was HaM! I was convinced she was ahead of me but maybe she did just announce early? I can imagine people suspecting if she wasn’t drinking, but surely you’d tell everyone afterwards if it’s someone else’s big day?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/05/2020 19:00

But Eugenie had the last laugh because if anyone looks happily married and in it for life it's her and Jack.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/05/2020 19:00

She and Jack I meant

Amymone · 16/05/2020 19:06

That's true. They do look very happy!

BalloonSlayer · 16/05/2020 19:07

Kate has always had to announce her pregnancies early because of having HG, so maybe Meghan thought it was OK.

And maybe she was really really excited.

And maybe she thought the family would be pleased for her. Maybe she asked Eugenie if she would mind if she told people at her wedding and Eugenie said of course not. I wouldn't have cared less if a family member announced their pregnancy at my wedding, it's lovely news and TBH ater everyone has said "ahh lovely so happy for you," the conversation turns to something else anyway.

Mariposa123 · 16/05/2020 19:10

Also congratulations @WindsorBlues !! Hope the morning sickness hasn’t got you too badly yet

HarryDaylight · 16/05/2020 19:35

Why the need for the maternity coat which screamed to the press that she was pregnant when she was only around 8 weeks pregnant? It was very poor form and terribly selfish to attempt to upstage the bride on her wedding day. It was cheap self publicity. Sadly it was all about her that day rather than Eugenie.

MissEliza · 16/05/2020 19:39

She possibly announced it because she was so excited- perhaps she was worried about conceiving because she's a bit older. My dh's cousin decided to announce her pregnancy at our engagement party. She then made a big deal about feeling nauseous and leaving early. She refused to come to my bridal shower and said she didn't have time to buy her dd shoes to be my bridesmaid so I had to. I didn't think twice then as I was happy about getting married but looking back, she was a total cow! I don't bother with her now.

YgritteSnow · 16/05/2020 19:42

I wouldn't have cared less if a family member announced their pregnancy at my wedding,

No me neither, but my ex MIL was irritated that I was showing - at four months - even though everyone already knew, because people asked me about it and how I was when presumably the bride (her dd) and groom should have been the only topic of conversation.

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 19:53

No matter how excited she was she could have waited ONE bloody day fgs! She just couldn't let Eugenie have her moment could she? She wore a maternity coat to the wedding and then a couple of days later on the first day of the tour she wore a skin tight white pencil dress, so no need for a maternity coat at all. I remember thinking that was a horrid thing to do.

HarryDaylight · 16/05/2020 20:06

It was a classic upstage, from a camera aware actress.
Sure, she must have been delighted but it was unnecessary and a preplanned grab for headlines.

WindsorBlues · 16/05/2020 20:13

@Mariposa123 thank you Grin morning sickness isnt too bad at the minute.

Zug2 · 16/05/2020 20:33

The media and social media went crazy when she showed up at the wedding, clearly hinting at a pregnancy !

Only now have I realised she was only 8 to 10 weeks pregnant at that point. She totally could have concealed it and avoided all that excite speculation.

HarryDaylight · 16/05/2020 20:45

It must have been upsetting for Eugenie as she would have known that there was no need for the unbuttoned coat done up like a maternity coat. Especially when her wedding date had already been moved because of her.

Ipadipod · 16/05/2020 21:02

Being part of the RF is like any job , you have to abide by the standard operating procedures , if you keep flouting them , it’s written warnings and then dismissal , although obviously they can’t be sacked , just pushed to the sidelines. That’s all the royals have to do and then (like us mere mortals) once they’ve completed their days work , they can go home and relax.

Nishky · 16/05/2020 21:25

I announced my pregnancy at my wedding- well I didn’t announce it I told people as I walked around- one of my friends said ‘so am I’! As she had older children it was a surprise but a lovely one.

Sorry wandered off into nostalgia there....

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/05/2020 21:38

I bet Eug didn't care one bit - she was marrying the love of her life and I expect that's all she thought about all day.

The preggie coat was definitely attention seeking, but I'm not sure it was consciously done. I just don't think MM can help herself.

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 21:59

Eugenie might not have cared, who knows? But you won't know the reaction of the bride you have until you've announced it, and you can't un say something like that. So why risk it?

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 22:00

Gah! I need an edit button...bloody ipad! I think you know what I mean.

MissEliza · 16/05/2020 22:05

As many have said, Eugenia probably doesn't give a shit. I hate PA but I thought her wedding was lovely. They looked so happy and she was a beautiful bride.

thenightsky · 16/05/2020 22:07

Didn't she wear a tight fitting leather skirt after that date?

Teddy1970 · 16/05/2020 22:07

Yes Eugenie looked beautiful, I loved Jacks reaction as she walked up the aisle.
