New thread

Has anyone seen that Lady Colin Campbell has written a book on Harry and Meghan using insider information. Apparently she’s has members of the Markle family to stay. She’s brave!

It’s always a risk putting yourself the public eye.
Much better to release photos- I’m sure there will be lots of people analysing mothering skills / dress/Archie’s development/ bonding etc etc
I think they would do well just to release beautiful pictures - that video should have been for private family viewing to protect Archie not for the public to pore over!
It’s a video grandparents would love.

Roseburn · 16/05/2020 11:38

A plain white babygro would have been completetley unidentifiable as a brand. And respectful to Archie.

Llareggub · 16/05/2020 11:40

The most revealing part of the that video was at the end when she said she would like to call into her dad’s house but wasn’t going to because “they weren’t on the best of terms right now.”

Interesting.

Inspiralcarpetry · 16/05/2020 11:46

Yes, I heard that too...I wonder what the fall out was over that time?

YgritteSnow · 16/05/2020 12:17

I think A wasn't dressed in a "cute outfit" for the book reading, because that's what Kate does. Cute outfits, which are then sold out on line within hours. I think M doesn't want to do anything K does and that drives a lot of her choices.

RosesandIris · 16/05/2020 12:23

I agree Ygritte

Not just that, I don’t think she wants to do anything the way the RF does.

I imagine it was presented very much as a moral choice too "my child is no ones advertising tool!" or something like that when really had Kate not got form for doing it M would be all over it.

Viviennemary · 16/05/2020 12:30

I think it's pretty poor taste to use these feeloading millionaires to promote Save the Children. They've gone down in my estimation. Bad move.

RosesandIris · 16/05/2020 12:32

Yes that doesn’t sit well with me either. Archie is a very very fortunate child of parents who don’t work and live in luxury. Advertising a charity that cares for disadvantaged children who lack even the basics. Whose idea was that?

Haven't watched the video of younger Meghan but teenagers acting up and not getting on with their parents is not unusual. I wouldn't want to read too much into that.

It was a mutually agreeable deal for them and Save The Children. The birthday video release will have made their campaign known much more widely. I know of Save the Children but hadn't heard anything about the reading campaign till the Archie video came out. Public attention means donations.

On their part they get to look philanthropic without actually having to do much or hand over cash themselves. Agree @YgritteSnow that Meghan wants to look like she's taken the non-Kate route. Unfortunately the clapping video the Cambridge kids did really covered the same ground, with less of the awkwardness.

Amymone · 16/05/2020 12:56

Save the children.... save Archie 😆 Or at least change his nappy...!!

Mamamia456 · 16/05/2020 13:04

Viviennemary - Lots of celebrities took part in the story campaign. It was to raise money for children in the UK and around the world affected by the coronavirus outbreak. What isn't good about that?

ajandjjmum · 16/05/2020 14:03

Aren't Save the Children the charity who have been pulled up for the behaviour of their directors and workers?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/05/2020 14:29

@Mummyoflittledragon I think in the video she was saying her ex bought the classy girl sign in the plate holder, not the whole car!Smile

She was rather too gleeful about it for my liking but she was only a teenager, albeit a somewhat "full of herself" one.

mooching · 16/05/2020 14:32

@ajandjjmum no that was oxfam I think, for their behaviour in Haiti

Viviennemary · 16/05/2020 14:54

What s not good about it is pretty obvious to me.

Mummyoflittledragon · 16/05/2020 15:00

@Myimaginarycathasfleas
Ah thank you. That makes sense. I thought she meant he’d bought the plate holder. But couldn’t work out why that was a big deal as I didn’t spot the sign thus questioning myself. I thought the whispering was because she thought she’d got one over on her ex possibly by keeping the gift.

Imo she sounded very self assured and like I would imagine a typical overindulged teen to act. Oh yes, I’m doing this audition then off shopping for some “pants” ie trousers. Me me me.

I also noticed the tiff with her father. I agree teens often fall out with their parents. However, it sounds as though perhaps she hadn’t seen him for a while and regardless of how she felt about him at that moment, he was the hand that fed her the chocolate croissant for breakfast and paid for her to live and attend college .

I think both Save the Children and Oxfam and also NSPCC, not all related to the same problems but they have all been in trouble for various reasons.

phpolly · 16/05/2020 15:21

At the very end of the video filmed by her friend when she was 17, she says specifically that she and her father were not on good terms at the time. Did anyone else notice this?

phpolly · 16/05/2020 15:27

sorry - just seeing that previous posters have noted the same

Jillyhilly · 16/05/2020 16:51

Megsy grilling her big burgers there on that Men’s Health link. Charming. Hmm

Viviennemary · 16/05/2020 17:40

Exactly Jillyhilly. Hardly an advocate for feminism.

mooching · 16/05/2020 18:23

@fannycann thank you for that. I had a feeling there were a few. So sad that there's a murky underside to charities.

My dad worked for MacMillan for a while a long time ago (about 25 years) and was so horrified by the waste in funds (he'd come from the city) that he left. It has always made me suspicious of where to donate although I think they have stricter guidelines these days.

WindsorBlues · 16/05/2020 18:49

I very recently found out I'm pregnant, Yay Smile. Anyway it led me down a Google rabbit hole of when to annonce it to family, and when celebs announced theirs publicly.

Meghan announced hers to the public on the 15 October, three days after Eugenies wedding which based on Archies birthday would have made her around 8 weeks.

I know everyone's diffrent and I didn't think much of it at the time, but now I'm 7 weeks myself I don't think I feel ready to announce it to close family never mind the entire world. I think she done it to take the attention away from Eugenie. Especially it reports are true that she told the family on the wedding day, and was there really a need for the maternity coat?

Or did it need to be announced because of security issues because they where off on a royal tour?
