New thread

Has anyone seen that Lady Colin Campbell has written a book on Harry and Meghan using insider information. Apparently she’s has members of the Markle family to stay. She’s brave!

Bettyboo
Cross post. Oh very different. But isn’t that perhaps the reflection of the change in fashion. Stark white is out. Floral prints are in.

Kate’s kitchen before they ripped it out at Amner Hall.

Omg that's a gorgeous kitchen!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 14/05/2020 21:51

I agree, I wonder what Kate picked instead.

StartupRepair · 14/05/2020 21:57

I think all the confusion about where He and M would live is a symptom of their not really knowing each other, not having a clear idea of how they wanted to lead their lives, not being together long enough to even have mutual friends. It seems Meghan was only comfortable at the Cotswolds Soho House which is a sort of glammed up fake celebrity version of a country estate. Not the real thing, which they could have had. Now they are drifting about in North America, still not knowing who they want to be.

RosesandIris · 14/05/2020 22:00

Frogmore seems a bit sour to me. It looks like it could be dark and damp inside. The kitchen which was ripped out at Anmer is lovely. Can’t see what was wrong with it.

Dour not sour!

I find it odd they keep drifting from house to house, part of being newly married is making a home together, I suppose they sort of did at Frogmore but they never really lived in it to make it their proper home.

RosesandIris · 14/05/2020 22:21

Yes, a very odd and dislocating way to live for the first two years of marriage.

Nothing in the current house or Canadian house will have been their stuff either. Not their furniture, not their paintings, nothing but some clothes I assume .

Ok, I am now prepared to admit Mehhan is evil incarnate. She organises her books by colour! Shock Wrong on some many levels although it wouldnt be if she organised by size too.

7Worfs · 14/05/2020 22:35

Not their furniture, not their paintings

Forget that, probably not their towels, pillows and bedsheets either. Eugh.

Maudiejames · 14/05/2020 22:37

Wow. Was reading about Frogmore Cottage and it’s got a rich history. Abdul Karim who was Queen Victoria’s Indian servant lived here, and so did the Tsar of Russia’s sister Xenia.

RosesandIris · 14/05/2020 22:46

True. Not their crockery, nothing. I couldn’t live like that for more than a couple of weeks.

Binglebong - How do you know that?

Winterlife · 14/05/2020 23:05

@Mamamia456, are you always so humour impaired?

Viviennemary · 14/05/2020 23:07

Books in colour order in photo. I didn't notice. I read the other day a cleaner was giving a lockdown library a thorough clean and has rearranged all the books in size order.

FannyCann · 14/05/2020 23:26

The Queen was right to say Windsor wasn't suitable for small children though. Funny that it takes Granny to point out something like that.
It's a busy place, lots of Grace and favour homes. The Household Cavalry have a base there. The Queen has a home there and sometimes entertains foreign dignitaries. There are various ceremonial things that go on. Parts of it are open to the public. How would that have fitted in to having a small child, play dates with school friends etc?
They needed somewhere separate and private. ConfusedHmm

FannyCann · 14/05/2020 23:28

Frogmore cottage looks ugly and dark though.
They undoubtedly thought she meant Frogmore. Grin

StartupRepair · 14/05/2020 23:31

Can't wait to read all about it in the book(s).

MissEliza · 14/05/2020 23:32

Omg books in colour order. Fgs.
I find it intriguing that MM has a beagle. I'm a beagle owner and they are not the easiest dogs. You need a good sense of humour to put up with them. Plus they love to destroy things which isn't very compatible with an immaculate house. (My excuse anyway) I certainly wouldn't let mine in any friend's house never mind a luxury mansion borrowed from someone I don't even know.

Wolfgirrl · 14/05/2020 23:35

They have very little in common so thrive on constant drama. I think they know the moment they buy a permanent house and settle down to a 'quiet' life will be the moment they realise they have nothing to say to each other. They have to keep planning, moving and making drama to have a shared focus and also so they can blame any tensions between them on external factors. That's my theory anyway.

I am concerned for Archie, he is only 1 and has lived in 3 or 4 different 'homes' already. And the current one is temporary Sad he has been taken halfway around the world away from 99% of his family and it looks like he won't be seeing them anytime soon.

Viviennemary · 14/05/2020 23:43

I feel sorry for Archie too. He has virtually no family. Moved around living in a borrowed house. No permanent home. I hope he has a kind sensible nanny.

I hadn’t thought of it that way but think you’re absolutely right .
