New thread

Has anyone seen that Lady Colin Campbell has written a book on Harry and Meghan using insider information. Apparently she’s has members of the Markle family to stay. She’s brave!

@MissEliza

There was a man who was stopped from taking a selfie by MM's security at Wimbledon. He didn't even realise she was there until they stopped him. Was he making it up too

I wonder why MM's security intervened? Anyone sensible would have the same initial change given he moved from his seat to stand right in front of her group to take the selfie.

Poor Harry. I feel really sorry for him.
I bet he wishes he was locked away at Balmoral or somewhere. At least he could go for long hikes, stalk some deer, shoot a few squirrels or something. Honestly he must be going stare crazy shut up in the mansion with nothing to do.

TheTiaraManager · 13/05/2020 23:22

Is tha my man the selfie taker? Where was his original seat?

FannyCann · 13/05/2020 23:23

Plus I feel sorry for the nanny. Confused

Mamamia456 · 13/05/2020 23:28

Becles - When I first saw that photo my first thought was how close he was standing to Meghan, it may just be the angle though. It does look as if he is taking her photo so I can see why her security guard assumed that's what he was doing rather than taking a selfie.

Mamamia456 · 13/05/2020 23:32

FannyCann - And you know that Harry's got nothing to do because......

Teddy1970 · 14/05/2020 01:01

Becles, there are far too many reports of MM being difficult and demanding, she's gone through more staff than I've had hot dinners, and yes Wimbledon officials did say she was a nightmare.

miri1985 · 14/05/2020 01:21

If the Wimbledon thing wasn't at the request of MM or someone on her team and it was the LTA's doing solely then why did KM sit in the stands surrounded by people a few days before?

Theres no way the LTA wouldn't have wanted to make money on the seats surrounding MM that day, I don't think I've ever seen them do anything like it.

If it was something to do with security and it was that important to keep everyone else away, most people would say I don't want to stop so many other people enjoying this, I've seen my friend play loads of times, I'll cheer her on from home on the telly.

This is the article about it, quote from an offical who helped organise the visit on the day “It was a nightmare, she was a nightmare.”

Of course they weren't going to come out and officially criticise her, they have a relationship with the RF that they want to keep but theres also nothing that says that it was their choice to have a section empty to accommodate her.

They labelled her a nightmare because she wore jeans and wanted to sit in the Royal box. She also didn't stay to watch Andy Murray Hmm

@Becles, it was widely reported at the time, even in the US. Google it.

Winterlife · 14/05/2020 03:08

@MissEliza, there was also a woman taking photos of players who was asked to stop. She asked what type of photo she could have taken of MM, given where she was sitting and the angle.

TimeLady · 14/05/2020 07:36

Now why am I not surprised by this?

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/05/2020 08:00

@Becles
Lots of posters have advised MM never changed religion. Why continue to reiterate this false lies? How is that different from the relentless lies they claim were in the daily mail.

Maybe because I read that MM did change religion from a source other than the dm - I have no idea which article or where just that I read it. Perhaps it was US gutter press. But I didn’t really realise it existed until highlighted on here so I took it as truth.

As for comments on here. I have not read mumsnetters comments that this is a lie or if read, I have not taken in that she wasn’t Jewish.

My comment isn’t some sort of conspiracy theory that you’re attempting to pick to pieces. I’m a disabled, chronically ill woman hanging on by a thread.

You see, you tell me, I go away, check and realise I was wrong. Why the need to accuse me of posting this comment for nefarious purposes?

RosesandIris · 14/05/2020 08:22

Both of Ms friends wore dresses, but she chose to wear jeans . The way they sat surrounded by empty chairs is unprecedented. It was more of the ‘look at me, don’t look at me’ narrative going on.

Time lady - The Daily Mail are so desperate to keep printing what they see as negative press coverage of MM. So she keeps a diary, so does the Queen, I would imagine various other members of the royal family do as well. The rest of the article is just repeating the news about the forthcoming book. It's getting boring.

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/05/2020 08:25

I’d love to know if she was advised or refused advice on Wimbledon etiquette and her role there. I agree with the “look at me, don’t look at me” narrative. Why else would she expect to be surrounded by empty seats? That’s a sure fire way to be spotted.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/05/2020 08:26

MM's own parents were married in an unconventional "new" church established by a charismatic leader. She has no tradition of faith in her background afaik.

Changing religion was a necessity to marry into the RF so she did what was required of her. Similarly she may have needed to learn the traditions of Judaism if her then husband followed them.

I don't think it's a big deal either way. You can't force faith on people if it isn't there. She would just be going through the motions anyway

@Becles, disagree by all means but you could be nicer when you answer people's posts.

RosesandIris · 14/05/2020 08:30

I’d love to know if she was advised or refused advice on Wimbledon etiquette and her role there.

You’d have to be a bit dense not to realise though wouldn’t you? Every other person is dressed in a certain way but M chose to be different. She supposedly was advised to wear a hat when doing an engagement with HM but didn’t.

@miri1985 is Kate watching Harriet Dart in that pic, looks like it. Nice she supported a young relatively unknown British player if so

Nishky · 14/05/2020 08:37

Just googled my own question- yes it is Harriet Dart

ajandjjmum · 14/05/2020 08:47

I too had read that she changed religion for her first marriage, and she was certainly confirmed into the C of E just before her second marriage to Harry.

Inspiralcarpetry · 14/05/2020 08:47

I always think it's so smart of Kate in the way she watches Wimbledon. Look closely and you can spot her security, but it's not obvious. Her back is to a wall, so reduced risk from behind. Everything in that picture says she's there to watch and support the tennis and that it's not all about her. Then compare and contrast to MM picture. Either Wimbledon officials insisted she take up almost an entire stand of seats or...It is also an undisputed fact that for whatever reason, she chose not to adhere to Wimbledon's dress code. We know this from the pictures.
On the question of the wedding to Trevor Engleson, they did have a Jewish ceremony. They are pictured doing the Hora. His recent marriage to Tracey Kurland was also a Jewish ceremony. We can't know for sure, but on that basis, it is highly likely MM did convert to Judaism for her first/second marriage (this is an unknown point at whether she had a previous marriage annulled/dissolved.) This would explain why she converted or began a conversion to C of E ready for her latest marriage. So what? She's an actress, I'm sure she approached it like she would prepare for an acting role.
Not nice to call people liars when all they, like other posters are doing, is speculating on a public figure who chose to be a public figure.

TimeLady · 14/05/2020 09:07

If she does keep a diary (and why not indeed) but then publishes it, I would imagine the invitations into the A-list inner circle that she so clearly aspires to will dry up.

We shall see; sounds like a shot over the RF's bow to me.

Viviennemary · 14/05/2020 09:18

Interesting it was in the Times that she was a nightmare. Why are they not on her banned list if it isn't true. I read ages ago she kept a diary. I also read she was caught poking about in rooms at the palace she shouldn't have been in and taking photographs and then was banned from any royal resisidencd unless she was accompanied. Not sure if I believe this. But why did they leave. I think there's more. But then I love conspiracy theories.

RosesandIris · 14/05/2020 09:34

. I think there's more.

I think there undoubtedly is. Tom Bradby mentioned a lot of ‘things that were said’ and probably done. There was obviously some sort of scene before the Commonwealth service.
