I must be the worst parent ever then, because by that age I only changed nappies for a poo. They never had nappy rash, the Pampers type nappies are good at holding away from the skin.

I'm not a fan of H&M any more, but this thread is SO needlessly bitchy. It's hardly surprising they left the UK if this is representative of the general mentality.

Anniesnotmydaddy · 07/05/2020 09:19

In her defence, I thought Meghan's delivery was delightful. However she was delivering to the camera, not reading to her child. I think it would have been nicer if she'd read the story to camera for Save The Children, and released it to honour Archies's birthday, and then released a still photo of Archie, perhaps with her and Harry.

thecatsthecats · 07/05/2020 09:26

It's Archie's Birthday, not about her.

Not a single child in the history of humanity has wanted or needed a first birthday party.

They are ALL about the parents (I've been inveighled into too many of the tedious affairs to mention, and am glad to be getting a year off!).

WildCoastalWolf · 07/05/2020 09:38

I actually thought this video was good and that they should have done stuff like this before, she comes across well I think. It's very endearing.

I do wonder if there is some product placement here though - and that's why she is making a big effort to show the pages of the book to camera. It does have 'Archies Bookclub' sticker on the front. I wonder if they are getting paid to promote this book.

I think it became extremely ugly after the video was posted yesterday.

TimeLady · 07/05/2020 09:45

Interesting analysis in a US publication

Mark Stephens, of London-based law firm Howard Kennedy, has represented clients including Princess Diana and Julian Assange. He told Newsweek Meghan must call her inner circle as witnesses or face an "adverse inference," meaning the judge could hold their silence against her.

He said: "If they aren't called by Meghan then I think there will be an adverse inference about why they haven't come forward.

Her lawyers' filing said she did not know they were giving an interview and was "extremely upset" they had, adding if it had been done with her consent it would at least have been accurate.

Hamsterian · 07/05/2020 10:06

He’s not wearing a babygrow, it’s a top and a nappy.

WildCoastalWolf · 07/05/2020 10:20

I think these comments about what he is wearing and his nappy are awful though. You would not dream of criticising your friends or family for stuff like this. It starts to become an absolute witch hunt. There is also nothing wrong with how she is relating to her son in this video - put yourself in her shoes for one second - how on earth would you feel if people said the same things about you and how you relate to your own children.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 07/05/2020 10:23

I've nothing to say about the video, it could have been better, or worse, but the control of the timing is the thing that interests me, given that it was made for the charity's purposes. Clearly they do have a say in when and how images and news are released. I think this will be relevant to the court case.

Mrscaindingle · 07/05/2020 10:26

I've enjoyed this thread up until the video came out and agree with feesh . For me it's a step too far now to bitch about a 3 min video of Archie being read a story.
It does seem that they can never do right for doing wrong.

LizzieSiddal · 07/05/2020 10:36

I don't see any either. Nice try, Lizzie, now you'd better look for the thread you actually want to suddenly appear on to berate the participants.

You can't see any deletions on this thread? - Ok we obviously need a third opinion so I've reported the whole thread to MNHQ, pointing out the deletions and asking why they are allowing such a nasty thread to continue on a parenting site.

Please can other people also report this thread? It is nastiness personified.

That's a reach I think. It's not comparable with independent newspaper articles, this is comparable to an engagement.

wombandovaries · 07/05/2020 10:45

I think the video is sweet. There are lots of comments worthy of my MIL about the video on this thread! Yes there is an awkward section where he gets fractious, but hey we’ve all been there. I can’t help but think if only they had been so open and sharing like this when they were a part of the RF they would have afforded themselves a much easier ride and, privacy once everyone’s curiosity had been satisfied (hi, look here’s the baby, now sod off and leave us alone on our welsh estate)

Ive reported posts since the comments about the video started yesterday. Its obvious some posters are hell bent on competing in a race to the bottom even without the comments on what he was wearing and the contents of his nappy.

Archie looked well loved, well taken care, comfy in the clothes he was wearing and its obvious he's used to be read to.

Dandyish · 07/05/2020 10:50

Agreed.

BarleylemonPenguin · 07/05/2020 10:53

Her lawyers' filing said she did not know they were giving an interview and was "extremely upset" they had

This is unlikely for at least two reasons 1) the power differential between M’s title and her friends would surely ensure that they wouldn’t have the capacity or will to take it upon themselves to do this without checking with her first, but even if they did 2) they would have to be incredibly altruistic friends, willing to put themselves and their own well-being on the line, for someone who is only a friend 1). So, it’s either 1 ) they would ‘die’ (professionally and socially) for their Duchess (“my Queen”) or 2) they would ‘die’ (professionally and socially) for a friend because they are altruistic. Is either option actually likely?

SylvanianFrenemies · 07/05/2020 11:00

I am a Republican and have no time for fawning over any royals etc.

However the response to this video here and more generally online has made me hugely sympathetic to Harry and Meaghan. The picking over everything is horrible. There was nothing wrong in the video. If it had been perfect the vultures would say "why can't they be normal?", "who dresses a baby up in an uncomfortable outfit?", "he was only wearing that so they could sell it", "why were they both in the video - she's so controlling", "they must have had 10 takes to get him to sit still, poor thing".... and on and on. No video = "they think they are too good to share pictures of Archie,".

There is literally no way they could behave and not be picked over, and torn at. Ridiculous!

7Worfs · 07/05/2020 11:02

Barley 👍

Can we go back to the court case and biography please, this video discussion has gotten tedious.

Froq · 07/05/2020 11:13

So was it neither a duck nor a rabbit? Did it turn out to be a dinosaur in the end?

I have to say, I didn’t take much notice of what was going on with Meg and Archie. I was hooked on the book.

spinyffud · 07/05/2020 11:18

Totally agree. Can we revert to court case and biography? The video has taken over this post and it’s not relevant and unfair. I don’t want to see these threads constantly deleted over these types of comments.

BarleylemonPenguin · 07/05/2020 11:29

Two-finger salute?

callmeadoctor · 07/05/2020 11:31

Sweet video, I didn't see any wrong with it, liked the fact that the book was a well loved (chewed!!) one and that he was desperate for the other book. He also was well used to turning the pages. Laughed at her trying to cover up the Da Da, why is it always da da they say before ma ma Grin

callmeadoctor · 07/05/2020 11:33

Sorry, back to the court case x
