I think there was a bit of embarrassment at PH's lack of subtlety, that's why M made a joke of it.
Who wrote that Mummy195?

EthelMayFergus · 04/05/2020 11:40

Off the top of your head, do you know which charity? Without having to look it up?

Mummy195 · 04/05/2020 11:44

Vanity Fair. Not really H&M fans.

Elephants without borders.

I never noted Bob I or Beyonce looking uncomfortable.

People see things differently! For me they are both taken aback when the 'she does voiceovers' conversation starts.

EthelMayFergus · 04/05/2020 12:14

Thank you, although I don't think many publications are fans any more.

Mummy195 · 04/05/2020 12:21

These publications were never fans to begin with. Most certainly not during the smear campaign.

But publications will go wherever the money is. The same reporters who are slamming them now, would change their minds if told otherwise or if money goes to being positive about H&M.
Ever seen how scathing Richard Kay is about H&M when writing for the tabloids, and then subdued on TV when talking during a documentary.

I don't think Beyonce was even paying attention to H and Bob I conversation. They look over at him when MM says something about H. But I never saw any reaction from B&J to this conversation.

Harry chose to snub a Royal Marines memorial service pencilled in for the same date so that he could be at the Lion King event. The 30th anniversary of an IRA bomb which killed 11 Royal Marines in Deal.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 04/05/2020 12:55

Going back to name changing - I’ve never pretended to be a different person but I name change regularly & will continue to do so. I use different names if discussing the dcs schools for example, or things I’ve asked very personal advise on. I don’t want people to link the dots. I do occasionally forget to name change back however & then have to ask MN to delete my post Blush

This all goes back to a particular long running thread I was on years ago when I was approached on here by a journalist asking me & others on the thread if we were prepared to appear in their paper for the thread topic. I didn’t but others did. I was then asked by friends (who knew I was on here) why I didn’t appear. I’ve been careful —paranoid— ever since.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 04/05/2020 12:58

Oops strike out fail Blush

I hope the above explains why I NC & why some others do so. I’m happy to say which thread in a pm to a couple of people & journalist paper but wouldn’t want to put on here.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 04/05/2020 13:14

I’ve just searched my inbox & the message from the journalist is still there also asking if I was willing to be photographed. No just no.

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 04/05/2020 13:19

The point remains that at the night of the Disney/Beyonce event, HaM were supposed to be at a commemorative event for the Royal Marines, 11 of whom were killed 30 years by and IRA bomb in Deal, Kent.

Who on earth would think it a good idea to ditch the latter (at short notice) for the former? I can't believe it was H idea, given that he has served and been brought up in military tradition.

Just such a bad move.

EthelMayFergus · 04/05/2020 13:24

Mummy195 If they didn't go to The Lion King premiere with the view to pitching for work, do you think it's strange that they went? As Derxa says, PH was invited to honour the 11 Royal Marines killed by an IRA bomb, on the 30th anniversary of the disaster. The military was a massive part of his life, in his own words he misses the camaraderie, the structure etc. Why to you think he snubbed them in favour of a Disney premiere?

EthelMayFergus · 04/05/2020 13:26

Sorry, crossed post with yolo.

Onprozacandmyhighhorse · 04/05/2020 13:26

So if MM was approached to narrate the documentary back in 2017 why on earth did a Hollywood A lister do the narration and then get dumped for Meghan?

thisenglishlife · 04/05/2020 13:32

That didn't happen, that was Disney's dolphin film

Mummy195 · 04/05/2020 14:46

Ethel this is just my thoughts on it.

I read that H had been attending the RM event for years. What that really consists of is H standing there every year, other than giving support, I am not too sure of what else he brings. Maybe a lot, I don't know.

I suspect that they may have seen that doing the Disney deals is bringing money for charities. So they saw that MM's contribution is bringing some kind of money for a charity. English mentioned that they were not there to pitch for Elephants. Is it possible that they wanted to ensure that the higher echelons at Disney are aware that this is something they are open to? No one has ever asked RF if they would be interested in voiceovers for exchange of charity donations. It's something that may never have occurred to anyone. This particular movie was all about voiceovers, so quite relevant.

So when it came to clash of events, they may have weighed the advantages and decided that Lion King premier may not repeat and this may the one time they meet Bob I and other interested parties during a relevant event all in one place, remind him or make sure that he knows they are involved in this and are open to collaboration.

From their portfolio so far, it looks like they like projects that donate to charities.

I know ppl call it crass, but come on, K&W were hosting dinners in NYC for the rich to make donations to charities. To me, as long as they use their fame to make money for charities, I really don't mind.

Mummy I know I’m becoming like a dog with a bone but please could I ask why you again think Meghan may not get a fair trail implying the judge would not be impartial? Or if I misunderstood your post then I’m happy to be corrected.

ButteryPuffin · 04/05/2020 15:00

mummy so assuming they identified the Lion King premiere as this one off opportunity (because obviously there's no way high profile people could have their people contact Bob's people and arrange a private discussion...), why didn't Meghan go herself to the event and approach him, like the feminist she is who can get on with things without clinging to a man? Then Harry could have kept his standing commitment to the military, which we know means a lot to him, and all is good.

Mummy195 · 04/05/2020 15:01

Yes, sorry canIhaveapenguin.
I did not want stir up some old things and make into an issue.

You are correct, I did wonder about the judge. This one is not particularly based on any real evidence. Just my feeling. The judge is part of the Queens Bench Division which has a few handpicked judges. I kind of worried that he may rule out some things that may lead to questions being asked about the RF. Expenditure etc. I imagine that he will protect the RF no matter what.

OP posts:
Mummy195 · 04/05/2020 15:08

Butter. I am not too sure how these things work at the RF officially.

I see H&M being a team most of the time. Even when MM was leading a project or round table H was there. It's only been her 1st / 2nd yr, it looks like H is there to guide and support her. Even for K&W, after all these years I only remember K leading her own round table just last year when W was away on a tour.

It's always better to meet ppl in real life, especially if you will be expecting money/donations from them. I imagine that both H&M and Mr Igor had diaries packed for a year or more.

OP posts:
CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 04/05/2020 15:11

I see. I can tell you now it’s extremely extremely unlikely that a judge will be biased. I will pm you why as it’s extremely outing.

derxa · 04/05/2020 15:13

I read that H had been attending the RM event for years. What that really consists of is H standing there every year, other than giving support, I am not too sure of what else he brings. Maybe a lot, I don't know. I'm sure the Royal Marines saw it that way. Confused

catinb0oots · 04/05/2020 15:17

But if she was already booked for the Disney voiceover, why would Harry be telling the head of Disney that she did voiceovers? Surely he would already know?

It doesn't make sense Confused

Mummy195 · 04/05/2020 15:19

I don't know derxa, not too sure the RMs have actually officially commented on this.
