Is there something seriously wrong with him?

You hardly have to be Sherlock Holmes to find a tweet 🙄 Can people not use google these days??

TimeLady · 22/04/2020 07:33

I don't recall this being posted. The Sun's response:

......But, for the record, the reason Harry and Meghan have decided to institute some sort of ban on the British tabloids is because they are the very newspapers reporting the truth about their behind-the-scenes fallout with the Royal Family.

In my case that meant revealing that William and Kate had rowed with them over Meghan’s treatment of Palace staff; that the Queen had banned Meghan from wearing jewellery from the Royal Collection; that Meghan was working with a Hollywood business manager to set up multi-million pound deals while still a publicly-funded Duchess; and that their exit from the UK and the Royal Family was steeped in bitterness, deeply upsetting the Queen.

They might not have liked the stories. But they were all true and all in the public interest.

I bet they are absolutely hating not having a social media presence at the moment. I had heard that they are in negotiation with Instagram to try and get 11 million or so followers moved over from SussexRoyal to a new account - but Instagram are refusing as they have stopped doing that for anyone... They are arguing that they should be given an exception.

I honestly think they would regain their 11 million followers anyway as people will follow just for the ongoing drama..

SussexGlobal would have been a much better name than Archewell though- as one of the papers today said Archewell sounds like a company that would make orthopaedic shoes.

Zug2 · 22/04/2020 07:46

I have, or rather had, a soft spot for both of them and really felt for her in the beginning, particularly the stress her toxic family would have caused both of them, and I do think she got a hard time in the media.

I just wish the UK media would now stop printing about them

The tabloids yesterday printed the story about them facetiming the queen, H & M really NEEDED that information out there, so they notified it to their preferred newspapers and the tabloids picked it up and printed it, so they still got the exposure they desperately needed and wanted.

Hopefully, the papers will begin an embargo on printing any announcements from their PR company and just let them deal with whatever they want to deal with in the US.

They need publicity now more than ever to garner interest in their upcoming new business, They still really need that public link to the Royal family, however the public interest was due to Harry being a public member of the Royal family, I don't think anyone can deny they made it look a bit more interesting. However, now that they have chosen to not be a public part of the Royal Family, what other interest is there in them?

Staged shots of delivering meals (not one bodyguard in any of the shots !) won't keep the interest for long. A few photos every now and then, of Archie might garner a resurgence of interest, and I fully expect there may be a few photos of Archie released in the near future, but in the meantime I really hope the media do a news blackout on them.

Brendan O'Neill is particularly scathing:

Talk about tone-deaf. As people in the UK rally together to tackle Covid-19, here come Harry and Meghan firing yet more shots in their ceaseless war against the tabloid press. The Barefoot Prince and the woke Wallis Simpson have loathed the tabloids for ages, mainly because they don’t bow and scrape before the couple’s every PC utterance or gush over their eco-activism. Oh, and also because they’re read by riff-raff – by ‘gammon’ and Brexiteers and men with tattoos on their forearms – and our Vogue-editing, Davos-attending woke superiors can’t possibly be associated with such people. But even for H & M, bashing the tabloids during a global crisis seems spectacularly morally illiterate.
...

That Harry and Meghan mix with the spectacularly wealthy and jet around the world while simultaneously decreeing that they will never again speak to the little people’s newspapers tells us something important about wokeness. It confirms that it is, if anything, even more snooty than older forms of monarchism. Its identitarian obsessions, its penchant for PC censorship, and its belief that the plebs must constantly have their ‘awareness raised’ makes the woke ideology an incredibly elitist affair. Indeed, contrast the queen’s ongoing sense of duty during the Covid-19 crisis, as captured in her stirring address to the nation, with Harry and Meghan’s narcissistic, conceited pursuit of the tabloid press, and I think you’ll get a very good sense of how out out-of-touch and up their own arses these right-on royals are.

Go Brendan Grin

SheStoopsToConker · 22/04/2020 08:08

But Brendan is also a bit of a dick who thinks racism doesn't really exist anymore and feminism has gone too far so...

RosesandIris · 22/04/2020 08:30

PC utterance or gush over their eco-activism. Oh, and also because they’re read by riff-raff – by ‘gammon’ and Brexiteers and men with tattoos on their forearms – and our Vogue-editing, Davos-attending woke superiors can’t possibly be associated with such people

The thing they’re overlooking here is that those people also pay taxes. The Monarchy is supposed to represent the country as a whole, not just those whose opinions fit their agenda.
I know they aren’t HRH anymore, but if they’re going to use their titles and milk the RF connection , they need to keep that in mind.

7Worfs · 22/04/2020 08:36

Wew, Brendan Grin

YgritteSnow · 22/04/2020 08:39

I think Brendan O'Neill is bang on actually, he's summarised exactly what they're doing. I admit though, I do struggle with the idea that if a person holds some disagreeable opinions then nothing they comment on can ever hold any weight and can be discounted.

ArchePenguin · 22/04/2020 08:40

There’s been an earthquake in Los Angeles.

ArchePenguin · 22/04/2020 08:44

3.8 - just a minor one. But enough for Harry to put on his Cartman voice and say Screw You, I’m goin hoeme.

RosesandIris · 22/04/2020 08:50

😁

Makeitgoaway · 22/04/2020 08:54

Why exactly have they been able to do so much travelling during all this? Even if it's within local rules, surely it's misjudged from a PR pov.

Aremt the tabloid readers the exact people they need - the union flag wavers? Where else is there a market for their new brand?

Ineedabreak19 · 22/04/2020 09:01

If the allegations about MM are true re verbal & physical abuse of aides (throwing tea). Then that goes against this carefully constructed 'woke activist' persona she's created. All the fawning, gushing & connecting with the common man/woman then comes across as a means to an end. If MM really did scream at aides then she's totally misread the culture of the UK & the Royal family. Yes bullying does go on as does bad behaviour but marrying into the RF & treating their staff like that is off. It seems she's more interested in equality & equal rights of certain people that fit into her woke agenda & animals rather than general domestic staff who are treated with contempt. Very hypocritical.

Makeitgoaway · 22/04/2020 09:04

What's happened to the staff at their UK home? If they've lost their jobs and were badly treated I'm surprised we haven't heard from them.

CallmeAngelina · 22/04/2020 09:08

See, I have trouble believing that one. She has never struck me as bad-tempered, and there are very few accounts of her historically (e.g. from when she worked on Suits) as being anything other than sweet.

CallmeAngelina · 22/04/2020 09:09

I was talking about the tea-throwing.

RosesandIris · 22/04/2020 09:22

makeitgoaway

Non disclosure agreements. I know a couple of people who have been in the orbit of W and K and there are are very very rigorous legal Protocols in place for anyone who get remotely near the RF.

TimeLady · 22/04/2020 09:28

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s staff at Frogmore Cottage are reportedly being “redeployed” as the royal couple prepare to spend more time in North America.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 22/04/2020 09:36

I was coming on to say non disclosure agreements. I’m not so sure about all those allegations tbh.

Ineedabreak19 · 22/04/2020 09:37

That's why I said if rather than she definitely did as I find it hard to believe too. But then her difficulties with staff are well known so who knows. Maybe the truth is somewhere in the middle with situations like these.

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/04/2020 09:54

CallmeAngelina
Maybe I’m wrong. But she seems to be anything but sweet. I think that was a created persona. Have you read the whole thread? Or read up on her?

CallmeAngelina · 22/04/2020 10:04

Have I read the whole thread?! Grin
Lockdown has meant I have been unhealthily fixated on this thread and all others on H&M. I am hated on the "kittens and lovehearts" threads too, where they only want an echo-chamber of positivity.
BUT, I am trying to be fair here. It does strike me as unlikely that she's a plate-thrower and I must have missed the reporting on the alleged incident at the time.

7Worfs · 22/04/2020 10:08

To me MM looks exactly the type to look down on staff when away from the public eye.
And it’s obvious she’s preoccupied with status.

Viviennemary · 22/04/2020 10:10

A while ago you couldn't say anything against Meghan Markle on MN. Now hardly anybody has a good word to say about her. I suspected she'd be trouble from the very start. That engagement interview made me cringe. I've never seen anyone so much in love with themselves
