Is there something seriously wrong with him?

If Britain was so racist towards biracial women...

I was pondering the high profile (white british) men and women who have married non-white partners - David Bowie, John Lennon, Bruce Forsyth, Michael Cane just off the top of my head... and the dogs abuse any wife (usually the wife) and a (beloved) celeb gets (didn't Justin Biebers girlfriends get death threats regardless of ethnicity, and I remember Catherine getting blasted for all sorts before she became quite popular).

When you are in your mega-wealthy bubble the everyday racism doesn't touch you nearly as much (unless you are in the army with Harry apparently).

ACoupleofPeaches · 20/04/2020 15:00

Has he said when they are going to pay back Frogmore?

They said they intended to. You know, a bit like how I intend to win a Nobel Peace Prize Wink

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 15:04

Maybe it’s just that old habits die hard? (Why he’s commenting on U.K. affairs, I mean.)

Maybe he’s homesick. He did sneak another snook at certain publications so he’s obviously still angry with the tabloid media, but they’ve released this letter to the tabloid editors now too, which must have been in the planning stages when he gave t he interview.

I hope it’s just a mark of his attachment to the U.K. and not a sign that he is allowing the media too much headspace in a way that impacts his MH badly.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/04/2020 15:07

I think they have not realised how much slack the press did cut Harry (covering up youthful indiscretions etc). The press must be rubbing their hands with glee now - the gloves are off, they have declared war...

peppermintcapsules · 20/04/2020 15:11

They didn't seem to think it through much, hence, all their attempts at branding themselves aren't going too well - the SussexRoyal think was nicked; they originally wanted Archwell but someone else was already using it.

RosesandIris · 20/04/2020 15:30

Inside the fold Harry was protected. He had all sorts of people advising him, covering up for him and smoothing his way. He has absolutely no idea how to function without all the carefully choreographed protection and advice. He thinks he’s FREE and Meghan can tell him what to do, as she’s from the Real World. How wrong he is and how deluded the pair of them are about everything.

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 15:31

Meghan’s style was always going to be very different from courtier style 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lordfrontpaw · 20/04/2020 15:34

"Meghan Markle is set to appear on US TV show Good Morning America today. The show will reportedly air an exclusive clip of Prince Harry's wife promoting the Disney nature documentary Elephant" (on twitter). Didn't someone on another thread say that the docu voiceover was already in the can with another actor, then they got Megged?

BubblesBuddy · 20/04/2020 15:38

To answer the poster from Canada. They are still Duke and Duchess. They are not styled HRH. His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. So just plain Duke and Duchess. Diana had HRH taken away too after her divorce.

CallmeAngelina · 20/04/2020 16:07

Has he said when they are going to pay back Frogmore?

They said they intended to.
No, I think it was even more woolly than that - it was said that they "wished" to.

They are still Duke and Duchess. They are not styled HRH. His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. So just plain Duke and Duchess. Diana had HRH taken away too.
They haven't had it take away; they have just agreed not to use it (even though in their words, they could if they wanted to, "ner, ner na ner ner!")

Lordfrontpaw · 20/04/2020 16:10

Just like how I intended to keep all the easter eggs that I bought (pre lockdown) for the kids in the family that live 4.5 hours away and give them later...

...but I just ate one and the rest don't look too safe either...

BarleylemonPenguin · 20/04/2020 16:42

I think H is talking because he has been pushed into it by M. M wanted a platform for her views and she got it through her marriage. She knew that she had no intention of keeping quiet as royals are generally expected to do. H, whether because he is being goaded into it by M, or because he is trying to keep up with her, feels the need to produce views. He has never shown any inclination for this before. He is flailing outside of his comfort zone. He needs a good advisor, not one of those blood-suckers. I am almost inclined to suggest that we write to him en masse and offer our advisory services, for free. M won’t listen so it’s pointless including her in the offer.

RuffleCrow · 20/04/2020 16:51

Ooh, the media really don't like being challenged, do they?!

I'm tempted to agree actually, MN is usually a good indicator of how bad things really are in any situation- with such a huge user base - and it's really just tumbleweed here atm. And when people talk about their nhs worker family members here, they tend to report that things in their hospitals are calm and stable.

Phantom1 · 20/04/2020 16:53

Yes. Good for him. But he should keep his gob shut and mind his own business.

I’m sure his mum would have kicked his backside if she’d been around.

YgritteSnow · 20/04/2020 17:10

@FrancisCrawford

And attempting to explain it by the old “but everyone else was doing it” excuse simply does not hold water. If your child explained they kicked a dog “because everyone else was doing it”, you’d still be furious with them

I did nothing of the sort. I explained my own experiences of such incidents in the same environment as Harry was in, in response to posters who found it incomprehensible. I knew someone would try to imply I was making excuses for him so made it quite clear that I was not doing so, only describing the context. Take your mini telling offs elsewhere and don't extrapolate meaning from my post, which simply isn't there. MN is ridiculous for this. You cannot speak about your own actual, lived experience in relation to a thread, without someone trying to shame you for it if it doesn't toe the current MN party line Hmm

I think it’s important to remember that his Grandfather is well known for racist comments . This is the family atmosphere in which he’s grown up. I think Charles has made a few off colour remarks himself.

Waterandlemonjuice · 20/04/2020 17:31

Omg that letter is shockingly awful, they need to just STFU. And stay home, not stage pap shots.

LittleCandle · 20/04/2020 17:32

Harry needs to keep his mouth firmly shut because all his indiscretions are crawling out of the woodwork now that he is not protected by the royal family. He said those things and they are now going to be thrown in his face all the time. Life's tough when you leave your protected little cocoon.

BambooSurprise · 20/04/2020 17:33

I don't think ygritte did try to justify anything. Simply add some extra detail to the story to partly explain why Harry is such a twat.

Lordfrontpaw · 20/04/2020 17:33

Everyone will be selling their stories.

YgritteSnow · 20/04/2020 17:48

Thank you @BambooSurprise. I can't be bothered to address the other poster again. Too tedious, and determined to justify their misunderstanding of what I was actually saying in my post. The post is there, people can make up their own mind. I knew there'd be one, there always is Smile
