I'm not sure he's being led by his nose.

goldpartyhat · 30/03/2020 13:18

Strange that he's gone from a loyal member of the RF, doing his share of charity work, meet and greet etc, and getting on well with his brother and C, to completely turning his back on all of them.

goldpartyhat I think many, if not most of us felt like you did in the beginning, happy that Harry had at last found someone with whom he could build a longed for family of his own, excited that his partner was out of the usual royal bride mould, encouraged by her early enthusiasm for the Commonwealth and optimistic that the two of them would make fantastic ambassadors in that and other areas.

The failure is not on our part but on theirs. We all have our peak Meghan point, for some it came earlier than others. I think she has taken some flak for actions that are attributable to both of them, but equally I think he is very much led by her, I don't think any of this would have happened if he had chosen better.

I'm done with the pair of them. Others may be more forgiving, but personally I think there are worthier members of the RF who could step into all of their roles and make a better job of it.

Poor Bazza. Easily led.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 30/03/2020 13:32

Foofstruck...

BelleharePenguin09 · 30/03/2020 13:52

Megs will never be an A list sleb. She is a lightweight.

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 14:00

So what changed, for Harry.
I acknowledge that he's probably harboured feelings of resentment towards certain factions of the press for years, but so too has William (if not all of them).
He has gone from appearing to be happy-go-lucky and extremely popular, and a great bonus for all his charities, to ... well, this: a sulky-looking, mutinous grudge-bearer who seems to dislike the UK, his family and everyone around him.
There was such affection and good will towards him and Meghan at the time of the wedding. What the hell happened? How did we get to this?

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 30/03/2020 14:04

Meghan happened.

Froq · 30/03/2020 14:04

At least the guy has finally arrived to help out in Belarus.

I think it has been caused by one drumbeat which became a banging of the drum and then the drum beat got so loud it drowned out all other noise.

Ie

Poor you, what a dreadful thing to happen, that’s toxic.

Your family are toxic.

Toxic

Toxic

TOXIC!
TOXIC!!
TOXIC!!!
TOXIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Puberty?

Sorry, may be projecting there as the mother of someone in their prime teen years who is certainly not relishing lockdown with their family, but who certainly is relishing telling us how much they’re not relishing it.

SussexRoyalPenguin · 30/03/2020 14:13

Oh dear - sonare you saying that Harry is having his teenage rebellion years in his mid-30s? What happens when he finally matured and sees the shitstorm he’s delivered?

7Penguins · 30/03/2020 14:15

Maybe his balls will drop and he’ll do the right thing Grin

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 14:34

I've never bought into the Saint Diana nonsense, and I've often wondered recently whether he's got more than a touch of her rebellious streak in him.
She definitely thought the RF owed her, "after all I've done for this fucking family," and maybe he feels the same way (although not until he met Meghan).

Quite.
Forgetting that if it hadn't been for that fucking family, no-one would have ever heard of her in the first place.

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 14:41

Done what exactly? I must have missed that.

7Penguins · 30/03/2020 14:59

HAM made Piers Morgan’s Top 20 Cov-idiots list.
I chuckled at Covidiots, has a ring to it.

OVienna · 30/03/2020 15:09

@ YgritteSnow

All that was predicted has happened, down to the last detail.

I wonder now if the MM cheerleaders who shamed all those who said this would happen, can now admit that they didn't leave to have a simple life together raising a family?

Exactly. I have thought much the same.

Rather unedifying to be squabbling with Donald Trump about security too.

To be fair to H&M, the Donald's habit is to start squabbling with with people of his own accord and on the basis of some random thought that's popped into his head for 30 secs, usually...I doubt very much they knew they were squabbling with him...there would be no basis for the US to pay for any security (I am not sure why people keep mooting that tbh) and I very much doubt asked for any US gov support. This is not a thing.

What is a thing, though, is any UK tax payer support for this venture.

Anyone see Clare Foges in the Times today? Good piece.

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 15:13

The Sussexes' team have responded to Trump's tweet by saying that they had no intention of asking the US govt to pay, but that “Privately funded security arrangements have been made.”
Carefully worded - who does that mean is paying? Sure as hell won't be them.

CallmeAngelina · 30/03/2020 15:14

Think someone linked to it earlier on.

TheTiaraManager · 30/03/2020 15:19

How can they retain President and Vice-President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust?

FinallyHere · 30/03/2020 15:57

For men in Kakuma, their positions as household breadwinners were undermined by the independence given to women as part of the program. For example, by providing women with their own ration cards, men were no longer relied upon to access food resources (Grabska, 2011, p.89). Emasculation as a result of disrupted gender norms led to increasing cases of domestic abuse in the camp, exacerbating women’s vulnerability to violence (Grabska, 2011, p.87).

I understand that you are proof reading, but I am v v surprised at these conclusions. Does it really suggest that the men would not have been violent if they had retained sole access to resources?

This surprises me mightily. I would have thought that abusers abuse, not just take it up when their power base is undermined. Likewise, I would have hoped that women having direct access to resources would have been less at risk of domestic abuse.

Shall try a google of the references and see how it goes. Apologies for interrupting the thread. A quick google found the original. Thank you very much

As you were.
