the queen was the head of an empire and she sacrificed her family for that empire, and now, those sacrifices were (in the poster's opinion), all for naught
HM did not sacrifice her family for the Empire. The 'Empire' didnt want her there and didn't benefit from her being there, which is why she now doesn't have one. She sacrificed her personal family life for the House of Windsor and the institution of the Monarchy.

Butterymuffin · 09/03/2020 21:24

No, the security costs question has currently been buried under the photo blizzard of the triumphal last tour.

PelicanPie · 09/03/2020 21:26

I can never understand why we don’t hear from lip readers about what was said.

Rainbows

Kensington Royal have got it right in the order if their Instagram photos

  1. Them
  2. Queen
  3. Charles and Cam
  4. Megs
  1. Harry

The Sussex Royal Instagram also gets it right with their two photos

  1. Both of them
  2. Face on photo of Megs with Harry in profile so you can’t see his mug properly

The Sussex Royal account says the Sussexes have been passionate advocates of the Commonwealth

Says they’ve spent many years working closely with the next generation of Commonwealth leaders

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/03/2020 21:33

And it they had posted pictures of the others, they likely would have been slammed for that.

Did KensingtonRoyal forget Edward and Sophie?

Grin I love your posts Bishop! They make me smile.

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 21:37

Maybe Kate refused to have any photo of Sophie (clearly the style winner) on their Instagram?

Rainbows8117 · 09/03/2020 21:37

Seneca i think you're clutching now. I can't imagine anyone 'slamming' them for showing a range of photos that don't only centre on themselves.

I believe KR did include Edward and Sophie yes. All the Royals.

Rainbows8117 · 09/03/2020 21:38

Edward and Sophie.

Harry and Meghan fly off into the sunset (soon)
SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 21:39

Why would they have been slammed for that Seneca?

The Commonwealth is about collaboration

No Kensington Royal didn’t forget Edward and Sophie

even if you’re joking they did so you can criticise them for it

Once more with Wessexes:

  1. Them
  2. Queen
  3. Charles and Cam
  4. Megs
5. Edward and Sophie
  1. Drumming band
  2. William and boxer (I think)
  3. Harry
  4. Flag procession
10. Kate being given flowers by little girl
SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 21:41

For accuracy and in case Craig David gets upset:

  1. Harry and Craig David
Rainbows8117 · 09/03/2020 21:44

Interesting Harry is being applauded for ignoring Boris yet he's in the background on one of the two photos they have posted from today Grin

SussexRoyalTies · 09/03/2020 21:45

Also, it’s a geographical thing. The Queen was head of many states in 1952. Now she is head of considerably fewer states with the prospect of Scotland leaving the United Kingdom. She could possibly be handing over England and Wales to Charles (maybe NI?) and that’s it. And tonight the news is that Prince Andrew has “closed the door” on helping the FBI investigation.

yolofish · 09/03/2020 21:49

god I wish I understood insta so I could compare and contrast. but I cannot fathom it out at all, can barely see my own children's posts let alone anyone elses.

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 21:52

Thank you Rainbows!

Right back atcha

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/03/2020 21:58

Kensington Royal Insta have put up ten photos from today including all Royals
Sussex Royal have put up two photos of today. Of themselves only

Says it all really ...

Lynda07 · 09/03/2020 22:01

It was nice to see them here again, albeit it briefly. They looked great!
I hate the Daily Mail with a vengeance, all their lies are shameful.
I hope H & M are happy with their new life.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 09/03/2020 22:07

Well as they won’t be paying for their new life I’m sure they’ll be very happy. I’d have loved for my ex employer (who was actually my uncle) to carry on paying for me not to work!

Roussette · 09/03/2020 22:11

Who is paying them not to work? As ministers and ex PMs and minor Royals get security, I can't see why there shouldn't be a contribution for H&M's security, with a contribution from them too. Sounds fair to me.

TheMustressMhor · 09/03/2020 22:11

I hope H & M are happy with their new life

I'm sure MM will thoroughly enjoy doing voiceovers.

Not quite sure what PH will be doing, though.

Whatever they do, it will be costing us a great deal of money.

TheTiaraManager · 09/03/2020 22:15

I find it so strange that on the SussexRoyal Instagram they remind everyone they are President & VP of the Commonwealth and that they have worked for years with them. I would have thought they would acknowledge that this is their farewell to the Commonwealth? It's strange as it reads as though the relationship is continuing

I thought only Working royals get security not minor royals - I’m happy to be corrected though Rousette But I object to the Sussexes getting security when they no longer live in the UK. Why on earth should the tax payer be paying for their life style choices?

Also current ministers get security as they are ministers.

Ex PMs - I’ve no objection to that.

Winterlife · 09/03/2020 22:20

@Noodlenosefraggle. It wasn’t my opinion. Nevertheless, I dispute your assertion the “empire” didn’t want HM. I think the attitude differs on across the Commonwealth.

Butterymuffin · 09/03/2020 22:21

I can't see why there shouldn't be a contribution for H&M's security, with a contribution from them too.

This is close to what a number of posters have suggested. The most popular suggestion was that the UK carries on paying its current amount for their security (i.e. what we've paid while they have been based here) and they pay the top up amount that living in north America and travelling around separately costs. I'd support that.
