Kate has gone bare legged too. Is she disrespectful to the Queen?

I don't think so.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 09/03/2020 07:40

Yes that is a very good cause. Like Help for Heroes the only charity for which I don't mind being doorstepped or accosted in the street.

Encyclo · 09/03/2020 07:40

Same Tiaras. It's a fantastic charity.

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 07:57

At the moment this charity is merely a reported intention

They haven’t reportedly lain down any roots for it

We’ll see what they actually do

yolofish · 09/03/2020 07:58

Does one say legg'd or legg-id? I've never known.

I didnt understand the white hair comment either.

There are already loads of charities working with veterans - SSAFA, RBL, forces benevolent funds etc. Clearly not enough is being done, but how/where will the new charity fit in?

MissEliza · 09/03/2020 08:16

Agreed yolofish. There are a lot of veterans charities with a lot of money in their coffers but they're clearly not doing enough. Sky had an interesting news special about it last year. I wonder where H will fit in.

SussexRoyalTies · 09/03/2020 08:19

I would question the white hair =good theory. Mary Beard has been treated appallingly.

StartupRepair · 09/03/2020 08:26

I suspect any charity set up will include generous salaries for its unqualified CEOs.

PelicanPie · 09/03/2020 08:30

Really? That's not really the purpose of a charitable foundation surely?

OP posts:
HarryDaylight · 09/03/2020 08:39

I don't understand how they can begin to set up a charity, whilst they continue to live on handouts from PC and taxpayers money.
Surely their immediate priority should be to be fully self funding so that taxpayers money can be put to good use here in the UK? Those millions could be ploughed into hospitals, policing and social care. I just don't get why they want to ask for more money for a charity when they take so much from us already . Can someone explain to me please?

eaglejulesk · 09/03/2020 08:41

Anyone who’s ever been in charge of recruitment will know that confidence and bravado is absolutely not indicative of skill, ability, attitude, fit and a myriad other things.

This is so correct!

derxa · 09/03/2020 08:43

I watched the dreaded GMB this morning and they had on the head boy who hugged Meghan at her school visit. What an articulate and impressive young man. He explained what IWD meant to him and his mother (who was on too) and how much they liked Meghan's presence in the Royal Family. Meghan was great on that school visit in the way she related to pupils. Why couldn't she have done more of that? What a difference she could have made.

LaMarschallin · 09/03/2020 08:55

Just catching up and I don't understand the white/straight hair thing.

It seems to have gone from:

Yesterday22:52 Becles

Nope. In the same way as white hair is the default for professional, the assumption is that she should dress as a load of aristocratic white women and abandon her sense of self. Why is a completely different race, in a different country the correct way of dressing?

to

Today00:12 Ritascornershop

I was confused about the white hair comment above, as my thought was grey/white hair, but now I’m realizing they meant straight hair. But Meghan does straighten her hair so that doesn’t make a ton of sense to me. And it’s only been one dress she’s worn that was a little more LA and a little bit less RF, so the tension about her “changing her whole style to match white women” (paraphrasing) seems OTT to me.

without any obvious link.

It didn't seem apparent to me that "white" meant "straight" even if autocorrect was doing it's usual unhelpful thing.

LaMarschallin · 09/03/2020 08:57

Gah!

Ignore me!

I've only just understood the link between "white" and "straight" hair.

I haven't even got the excuse of it being too early in the morning Blush

Some posters live to troll this thread they keep saying they disapprove of. They have been doing so for months now. Very strange.

Agreed @CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate. While telling other posters how over invested they are.

Rainbows8117 · 09/03/2020 09:10

While telling other posters how over invested they are.

I think we could all agree that every single one of us that reads and posts here must be quite invested in H&M, no matter which 'side' you are on. It's amusing people use it as an insult when they are reading and posting just as often!

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 09/03/2020 09:11

And while ignoring posts that correct their logic or ‘facts’

Funny how one or two disappear when held to account

I think that's a really good point.
Some do seem, to me, more invested than others but we certainly all take an interest, at the very least.

GracefulHippo · 09/03/2020 09:19

I am starting to wonder if this thread is a micro version of Britain.

The majority of the posters wish M&H well.

Some posters adore M&H. Some posters wants to discuss beautiful clothes with no underlying meaning. Quite a few posters wants to focus on the financial aspects of the RF, especially non working royals and to some extent aspects of what can be considered appropriate dress code for royals.

And there are a few horrible and racist posts (which thankfully are deleted).

And when the horrible posts appear, everyone who does not adore M&H get lumped together with the racists and told that all negative comments constitutes bullying. I think it is annoying on both a macro and a micro level.

yolofish · 09/03/2020 09:19

Hands up - I'm over-invested. Basically because I am absolutely fascinated.

I don't know how we went from beautiful bride and handsome groom to this fiasco.

PelicanPie · 09/03/2020 09:24

yolofish

Me too!

Morning! Had to do a lot of scrolling past the off topic posts, 8 pages! Must be a new record.

I’ll catch up with the news and come back with something interesting and witty, as usual. Wink

Let’s not get sucked into fucking tedious back and forths, my thumb gets tired of scrolling on by. Grin

Delurking but have been reading these threads since thread #1 - can't believe we're on thread 23 now is it?

I was a MM fan when she was first introduced as PH's girlfriend as they seemed so happy together. I didn't know who she was prior to that, had never heard of Suits. However then the rumours started coming out about the way she treated staff although I thought they couldn't be true. Then what happened at Wimbledon, etc. Suddenly it looks like not everything is as perfect as it seems. Then they dropped the atomic bomb in January and ever since, I have viewed everything she does with a side eye.

I think she has hugely disrespected HM and the RF, as has PH too as he's just as guilty as she is. I couldn't believe that they attended the Lion King premiere instead of the military event. They showed their true colours there. The shameless plugging for voiceovers. Cringe. The organised pap shots in the woods. Expecting the UK taxpayer to fund security for their new lifestyle is such a gross sense of over entitlement. That money could be spent in so many more worthy ways. Was she thinking that when she went to that school at the weekend? That the money could be used towards providing better education towards young people? Or the health system? Etc.

Releasing those photos then to clash with Camila's speech was a real low point after BP asked the photos not be released. Roll on this evening when their last royal engagement is done and they can head back to Vancouver Island.
