Makes me laugh when people refer to posts like coffee's as 'unfortunate'

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/03/2020 22:18

Hopefully this this thread will be gone ...

No need - HQ have (rightly, IMO) removed the problematic post, so it seems safe to move on

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/03/2020 22:19

I've reported the monkey photo and post btw.

Me too, but I've also given as my reason the interpretation certain posters are deliberately placing on it to cause trouble.

Sunshineand · 08/03/2020 22:23

Me too, but I've also given as my reason the interpretation certain posters are deliberately placing on it to cause trouble.

I think the poster who posted the racist picture and caption is the one deliberately causing trouble. But let's not let facts get in the way of your dogwhistling, eh?

Absolutepowercorrupts · 08/03/2020 22:26

@Sunshineand
I saw the picture and didn't even bother to read the post.
Do NOT ever make any assumptions about my intentions.
Anybody with any sense knows the phrase about the organ grinder and the monkey.
The fucking organ grinder is in charge.

yolofish · 08/03/2020 22:29

No, it was completely inapproriate and has now been deleted. So can we move on pretty please?

I think tomorrow is going to be pretty cringey in terms of RF relationships. Megz must have absolute balls of steels to pitch up with the rest of them for the Commonwealth service, I'd be shitting myself. so kudos to her for pitching up.

For Hazza, I think it will be a completely different kind of day, a sad good bye.

Becles · 08/03/2020 22:31

@PelicanPie

I think the feeling about her appearance is that it seems to be aiming for a certain standard or look that is favoured by celebrities in America. It isn’t something that is usual in the RF or even the aristocracy. The references to KK illustrate this. It’s what LA actresses might aspire to but it doesn’t go down particularly well over here

Hmm So a mature black woman doesn't change her way of dressing to mirror the way favoured by an almost homogenous group of white women...
SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 08/03/2020 22:35

I feel for them all for tomorrow

They’re all going to be scrutinised

Are George and Charlotte likely to be there? I don’t know if they get let off school for certain important events

I hope they get to say a proper goodbye to their Uncle Harry

And Aunty Meghan but they haven’t known her as long so unlikely to be as close

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/03/2020 22:37

I think tomorrow is going to be pretty cringey in terms of RF relationships

Only if they allow it to be, yolo - and as said earlier, I'm pretty sure the RF are capable of putting a good face on things no matter what their own views are

Not that it'll be easy with the media salivating for a stink-eye shot

yolofish · 08/03/2020 22:37

who is this almost homogenous group of white women... becles?

do you mean those on this thread? or some other group, eg the women in the RF?

I just think you dress the part - and as an actress, you most certainly understand that. So, do you do the whole OTT hollywood thing to suit your potential new environment, or do you not scare the horses and dress to suit the family you married into? Neither is wrong...

But what M wears tomorrow is going to send out some massive messages as to their future direction.

Sunshineand · 08/03/2020 22:42

Absolutepowercorrupts
I'll assume what I want, thanks. The same way you guys assume stuff about Meghan. Not very nice, is it?

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 22:44

becles
I think we all understand the need to dress appropriately for the situation you find yourself in. Whatever colour you are. If you’re joining a very ancient institution with a certain code of conduct, you respect it. Otherwise it causes upset and frightens the horses. I think you’re saying the horses should be frightened regardless. That could be construed as arrogance not bravery.
I think a lot of people were hoping M would be someone who would do great things from within the institution. Maybe change it for the better. There are ways to change an organisation without being disrespectful and undermining it. Staying within it for a start.

I’m not sure Meghan would want to described as a ‘mature’ women. Isn’t that word used to flog anti wrinkle cream to the over 50s. I could so see her doing a L’Oréal advert though in months to come.

yolofish · 08/03/2020 22:51

yy pelican. Poor horses, no one should ever frighten any animal. (not said factiously).

Becles · 08/03/2020 22:52

Nope. In the same way as white hair is the default for professional, the assumption is that she should dress as a load of aristocratic white women and abandon her sense of self. Why is a completely different race, in a different country the correct way of dressing?

yolofish · 08/03/2020 22:55

factiously??? FACETIOUSLY obvs..

becles see pp about dressing for work? Otherwise it's kind of racist in itself to suggest that someone cannot fit their particular work optic...

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 23:00

Then she shouldn’t have joined the RF.
If you become First Lady, you show respect for the institution you are part of.
You have a rather strange view of the world. If you go into a profession you respect its institutions and codes of conduct.

OP posts:
PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 23:01

What is this about white hair by the way?

OP posts:
onlinelinda · 08/03/2020 23:03

I'm not a great fan of the RF as an institution, but the racism against MM disgusts me.

SaidTheActressToTheBishop · 08/03/2020 23:03

My hair isn’t white

So THAT’S where I’ve been going wrong

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 23:06

It’s not about how she’s dressing anyway. It’s about how she’s behaving.

OP posts:
yolofish · 08/03/2020 23:21

I'm coming back to the military connections. They were clearly very important to Harry - his upbringing, his service history, his commitment to veterans via Invictus etc.

Meghan appears to pay lip service, attending events etc, but she just doesnt 'get it' in the same way that service families do, that it could be your husband/wife/child.

How could she? she's never felt that dread of that knock on the door with the worst news.

Absolutepowercorrupts · 08/03/2020 23:21

@Sunshineand
ODFOD
I'm not a guy and I've assumed nothing about the Duchess of Sussex.

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 23:24

yolofish
Yes, her upbringing and frame of reference has been totally different. I’m sure she finds Beitish culture bewildering in many ways. Harry’s whole family have such a connection to the Forces. She just wouldn’t understand.
