Harry and Megan are the best. Love all the charity work they do

DaveCoaches · 17/04/2020 01:37

Can you find me a quote where MM has said she was in one of the top 100 shows in the US?

Winterlife · 17/04/2020 01:41

I wasn't responding to anything MM said, so why is it relevant?

DaveCoaches · 17/04/2020 01:54

Well why is it relevant that Suits wasn’t in the top 100 shows? Seeing as no-one has claimed it was.

Winterlife · 17/04/2020 02:01

Had you read my original post, you would have noted I was responding to something someone else posted, i.e. Suits was popular, but the haters like to pretend it wasn't.

A television show that doesn't even crack the Top 100 is not "popular". It's neither good nor bad. It just is a fact.

DaveCoaches · 17/04/2020 02:08

Yes... a show which made Netflix’s top 20 of the first most-binged shows in the UK (for the period between October 2012 and December 2017) is “not popular”. Again made the top 10 for a week in 2019. But nobody has ever watched it... (Obviously these are UK numbers, not US or global).

Suits was fairly popular on Netflix wrt binge watching at least
www.usanetwork.com/suits/blog/netflix-showed-how-fast-suits-fans-got-hooked-on-the-show
and Rachel was a popular character
www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a863800/suits-season-8-ratings-lose-viewers-without-meghan-markle/
Looking at raw audience data across networks when USA network is a non-network show ie you have to pay for it, won't necessarily help gauge its popularity.
Looking at the channel itself according to Sidereel the show was their third most popular hit after White Collar and Psych. Mr Robot, which had critical success came fourth in terms of viewing figures.

AllTheseThingsThatIHaveNotDone · 17/04/2020 02:13

non-network channel

Winterlife · 17/04/2020 02:29

For US ratings, Dave, the UK is irrelevant. Furthermore, Netflix doesn't release ratings.

Other than Rick Hoffman, who was known from a number of previous network programs, any of the Suits stars could have walked the streets of any American city pretty much incognito. That includes MM, until she started dating Harry.

@AllThesethingsThatIHaveNotDone, Game of Thrones is on cable as well. But yes, the fact that Suits was on the US cable network was a negative, as it is not a broadly watched cable network. Had it been on another cable station (such as HBO or AMC), or on network television, it (a) would not have filmed in Toronto; (b) likely would have been more popular; and (c) would have made everyone involved a lot more money.

DaveCoaches · 17/04/2020 02:51

Furthermore, Netflix doesn't release ratings.

It does release some ratings.

Tezza1 · 17/04/2020 04:17

@Winterlife C'mon. Gina Torres was Zoe Washburn in "Firefly." Nathan Fillion as Mal Reynolds. Sigh.
I'm pathetic.

Winterlife · 17/04/2020 04:54

I have no idea who Gina Torres is.

Incidentally, we are a “Nielsen” family. At the time we started, we had three children in the coveted demographic living at home.

Each family member is given a sort of small transmitter to carry. It transmits signals from the television, computer, and radio which tells them what you’re watching or listening to. Netflix, I believe, is included but I don’t think they pay Nielsen.

Tezza1 · 17/04/2020 05:13

Female lead in "Suits." For me, she and Gabriel Macht were the only things that made the two series of "Suits" that I viewed actually watchable.

However, I mentioned her, as "Firefly" only ran to one series and a single big screen movie but still has a small, but incredibly devoted, following and she would probably be recognisable as Rick Hoffman in the street by fans, at a SF convention or something to do with steampunk, etc. Plus she was married to Laurence Fishburne - so another person who could be said to belong to a "power couple."

Roussette · 17/04/2020 07:27

Gosh. I assume some posters have to scratch around now to prove what MM did in a series wasn't popular. You couldn't make it up Grin

I see the ghastly Daily Fail are still scratching around too writing articles comparing them to Princess Anne, hilarious. Only looked at the headline, haven't read it, don't want to, but I presume it will feed those that hate.

I love that they are working delivering food at the Charity in LA. Good on them. And no, it wasn't a one off photo op. They went over Easter, and asked to return the following Wednesday.

Also this..
'Meghan and Harry announced they were delighted the BBC's profits from their wedding broadcast were going to a UK charity aimed at feeding families.

The BBC has pledged to donate £90,000 of the profits made from the broadcast to Feeding Britain, a charity that helps feed hungry families in the UK.

The Archbishop of Canterbury is the president of the charity and also presided over the royal couple's wedding.'

I hope they are finding their niche over in the US.

Tezza1 · 17/04/2020 07:37

@Roussette I assume some posters have to scratch around now to prove what MM did in a series wasn't popular

Are you referring to my statement?

Tezza1 · 17/04/2020 07:38

That is, about Gina Torres?

Roussette · 17/04/2020 07:51

I'm not referring to any statement in particular so no. Just in general posters linking ratings or whatever to prove that Suits wasn't popular, which to me is rather scraping the barrel to have a dig at MM.

Samcro · 17/04/2020 08:04

suits was good.
as with all tv shows some people love them, others hate.
I love peaky blinders.....not every one does.
can't believe people are so keen to knock her that they go to the trouble of finding a list.

OP posts:
Roussette · 17/04/2020 08:24

Agree samcro. Suits would never be my thing particularly anyway, so never saw it, but I'm sure it had its fans. As MM left it a few years ago, not sure what is relevant about it now to be honest.

Tezza1 · 17/04/2020 08:27

Roussette Just in general posters linking ratings or whatever to prove that Suits wasn't popular
Let's be honest: it wasn't enormously popular, certainly not within spitting distance of shows like NCIS.

It would've been interesting to have seen what her career would've held when Suits finished. The problem with that is, except for her marriage, the odds are that very few people would would ever had heard of her.

Oh, for a sliding door moment.

Tezza1 · 17/04/2020 08:36

@Samcro suits was good

I'm glad you added the rider. as with all tv shows some people love them, others hate. I thought the relationship between MM and the Mike(?) character could've been written by a 12-year-old - or me, and I can barely string a few sentences together.

Anyway, to each their own.

Roussette · 17/04/2020 08:37

I know nothing about Suits, to be frank. I'm sure it had its fans. It was a part of her life that's pretty irrelevant now I think. Smile

Samcro · 17/04/2020 08:39

who cares? she married Harry so we have heard of her.
trying to work out how bad her career would have been is just silly. no one knows.
what we do know is that she was in a popular tv show, it ran for about 8 seasons so must have been deemed popular by some one.
it really is nit picking time now isn't it.
W&K were on tv earlier, there they were sitting in luxury banging on about something.....yet they are fawned over.
disclaimer i like W& k But hate how they are fawned over whllst H&M are slated.

OP posts:
Roussette · 17/04/2020 08:44

It was an interesting interview with W&K. I waited with baited breath on the bit where they talked about zoom converstions with their family. I was hoping they would say H&M, but no. It veered off to the Middletons. A shame.

Let's hope they do talk online, but mentioning it was opening a can of worms we don't need at this difficult time.

Samcro · 17/04/2020 09:05

i see H&M Are getting slated over some video.
people are digging deep now
and getting slated for delivering food parcels.
but W&K nothing. what are they doing?
