I find some of the criticism so baffling. Because she is not an A list, Oscar-winning actress she is nothing. Suits is glossy TV, it’s probably not award-winning but it has its place and people liked it. There are hundreds of actresses who would be jealous of MM being a lead in a TV show. How many pilots don’t get off the ground?

That’s the thing isn’t it?

They stereotype her as a Hollywood actress making her out to be fake and demanding, but also say she’s a gold digger when she’s made most of her money for being on a tv show for seven years and easily supported herself. Called attention-seeking despite same people not even knowing the show she was on and ignoring the charity work she has done before she even met Harry. Nothing says attention-seeking like going to Afghanistan to show support to the armed forces and their families.

If you actually look into her background and ignored the tabloids, it’s not surprising that Harry chose her.

Suits was popular, but the haters like to pretend it wasn't.

He is aid to be worth £40 million at the moment. He simply doesn’t have the funds of Bill Gates. He won’t get to that level of philanthropy. It’s virtually impossible with the high cost of living he has. So where is the money coming from to do anything meaningful? Other people one assumes.

Do you not donate to charities? Do you not do sponsorships? How do you think non-profits get money?

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 18:58

The rags do not know how much Harry is worth. That is his private money that he does not have to give full public access to.

The Obamas were not billionaires just a few ago. But they have done a lot. H&M are still young and enthusiastic, they will cover a lot of ground in a short time. They do not have to be BG level right from the get go.

MM was one of the main characters, coming in 4th or something in the credits. She was in over 100 episodes. Can't really be bothered with splitting hairs on the matter.

BubblesBuddy · 10/04/2020 18:59

They don’t get as much as they would like and there is huge competition for money. In the USA there is a culture of philanthropy but most uber wealthy people do their own thing with their own money. Anyway, we will see what happens but I think it will be promoting worthy causes rather than actually doing anything.

Samcro · 10/04/2020 19:06

Thanks mummy195 wasn't sure as ages since I watched it. I had such a girl crush in donna that other female characters never seemed as good.

How on earth does anyone profess to know how much money the futures King's and Queen's grandson has, the redtop rags can only make extremely wild guesses on what is essentially a private matter.

phoenixrosehere · 10/04/2020 19:08

And promoting worthy causes is doing nothing? Promoting causes that people may not have heard of or would ever come across is doing nothing? Looking/visiting into the work said causes are doing, how they work, what inspired them, etc.. is nothing?

Ok. Obviously, people have their own definition of doing nothing.

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 19:12

Phoenix

I think that is the problem. A lot of people have no idea of the charity work she has done (or choose to ignore it).

She was associating with high profile people, who normally will have people that talk to them vetted. Pumzile Mlambo Ngcuka was the Vice President of South Africa - arguably one of the highest ranking countries in Africa. MM was allowed to sit next to her in one summit.

@Mummy

I know and it’s not even difficult to find this info yet they’ll happily believe the tabloids due to their own laziness.

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 19:28

As you said, they had a few causes aligned before they met. Like supporting troops etc.

Funny enough, the way people bash her I can’t help but think they are calling the RF dim.

I highly doubt Meghan wasn’t looked into when they started dating. This is the RF, one of the most well-know royal families in the world. Do we really think the Queen wouldn’t have had her completely checked out and vetted before they became serious? Not look into her background, schooling, friends, family, any information they could get their hands on especially with her being a foreigner and an American one at that with their history?

Mummy195 · 10/04/2020 19:34

It's not like she was totally unknown before Harry.

Yes. Between the both of them, they have the connections people wish they had.

The street artist who drew a welcome to LA graffiti of Harry has put up the video of himself doing the drawings.
I can't find a youtube video link, but someone on twitter linked the video.

After a charity delivering food to vulnerable people suffering with serious illnesses like HIV, Kidney failure etc. said they were having problems with delivering food parcels, they went and helped them deliver.

Cerseirys · 16/04/2020 11:37

No doubt that'll soon be decryed as "attention-seeking" by naysayers!

Mummy195 · 16/04/2020 12:03

Haha, Cerseirys

Yet they've been going on about what are they doing for the pandemic (a young family who just made a move with a small child).

My links were all over the place. Hope this works.

ButteryPuffin · 16/04/2020 14:27

Pleased that they are joining in with practical efforts to help others. I hope we'll see this become a regular thing they do - since they are having plenty of family time at the moment, to the point of feeling 'almost guilty' about it, as Harry is reported as saying in the story about his video calls to families in need. They also presumably have no problem paying for childcare so that they can regularly volunteer. It doesn't have to be a one-off to get positive press attention, it can be a real commitment to folk in need in their new home.

Suits was popular, but the haters like to pretend it wasn't.

In terms of ratings, no, Suits wasn't popular.

The most popular broadcast in the US is the Superbowl, with over 114 million viewers.

The most popular television show is NFL Football, and then, The Masked Singer, with over 12 million viewers weekly, and a 3.99 saturation in the coveted 18-49 demographic. This Is Us is the most popular drama, with just under 7 million viewers.

Suits was not on network television, it was on cable, and its ratings were always around 1 million viewers. It doesn't even crack the top 100 in terms of viewership.

DaveCoaches · 17/04/2020 00:17

The Superbowl happens once a year ffs.

Winterlife · 17/04/2020 00:26

Sure. But NFL Football doesn't happen once a year. Nor does The Masked Singer, which has over 12 million viewers week in, week out.

As I posted, Suits didn't crack the Top 100 watched television shows in the US. To suggest it was popular is flat out wrong.
